Other side of the Atlantic. Though it's decided to revert to “normal” today for a change (so some snow on the way home, though mixed with lots of rain).

Here. It's supposed to be around 90F today.

We (much further South) had a few minutes of really heavy rain combined with what looked like snow but sounded like hail. With lovely warm sunshine either side.
So yeah, normal British weather.

It's enabled us to light a fire under our IT people so we can finally get upgraded to Windows 10.
Even if I never end up using the Bash feature, I consider that a positive move.

Bashir was also injured (but not badly) by a random mortar shell in "...Nor the Battle to the Strong". SO THERE STACK OVERFLOW NOBODY CAN DEFEAT MY ENCYCLOPEDIC KNOWLEDGE OF STAR TREK!
There used to be a lot of talk of autopilot systems where the plane could fly its entire trip without a pilot touching the controls-- such an arrangement would obviously require automatically deploying the landing gear, too, but nobody mentions it in the answer to the question.
Which means:
- Either those planes never existed, or
- Those planes are rare enough that nobody answering the question is considering them
Your programming language/framework has a function that returns you a temporarily file. You should use the path/filename you've been given by that function. Never any other way.
Is watching porn during a lecture a crime?
Uh. No. But that doesn't mean you do it, weirdo.

I have no idea what you are talking about...

@Polygeekery That makes two of you.

@blakeyrat I was going through some "identify this movie" and found this one:
One of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MOVIES Quatermass and The Pit (a.k.a. Five Million Years to Earth.)
Note that the locusts aren't locusts and they don't technically cause madness; in the film, the "locusts" are martians who, knowing their own planet was dying, took apes from Earth and genetically-programmed them with their own martian beliefs and customs as a way of extending their own influence. Also the movie's in color.
When the martian's spaceship is reactivated, it begins transmitting the hypnotic signal to activate that programming. Since the martian beliefs and customs were that they should kill anybody even slightly deviant from the norm, the end-result is that hundreds of Londoners form mobs that go around murdering people different from themselves-- primarily those immune to the martian hypnotic suggestions.
It's seriously an awesome movie and the scenes at the end with the martian-controlled mobs are genuinely frightening.
-
@blakeyrat Also note that this:
http://movies.stackexchange.com/questions/50900/thriller-horror-movie-reanimated-murderous-woman
Is definitely "Deadly Friend". (She uses three fingers because she was re-animated using a robot's controller CPU, and the robot had 3-fingered hands.)
But of course being Stack Overflow, the correct answer is voted down by jackasses.
-
@blakeyrat No symlinks, though. Not even when you start bash through an elevated cmd.
-
@Rhywden That makes sense. You're still operating on ntfs.
-
@Rhywden Well it's still running on NTFS, which doesn't have symlinks so... yes?
At the OS level, you have shortcuts, and at the filesystem level you have junctions. But neither of those is symlinks.

Probably a translation issue? No idea why it shouldn't work except that the syscall translation if broken.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Hm. New as of Vista. Well, news to me.
If an app breaks because symlinks aren't available, then it's a pretty shitty app.

(Bunker Hill Rd is a little dead end road that basically gets used as an overflow parking lot for the school because, why the fuck would a rural high school where everybody drives ever need more parking spaces than an inner city school where nobody drives? I have exactly zero doubts that some useless dirtbag student caused the accident pulling out in front of a bus, because it happened about once a year when I was there. Never ended in laying the bus over, though.)
Also: WELL THERE GOES MY PROPERTY TAXES FOR THE YEAR.

I've been sifting through all the Unread items, trying to remember which ones I'm "muting" internally before clearing unread.
My position keeps resetting because I forget between pages, so I have to start at the beginning every time.

Status: Interesting. Apparently HoloLens Emulator requires:
- Hyper-V.
- Hardware-assisted virtualization
- Second Level Address Translation (SLAT)
- Hardware-based Data Execution Prevention (DEP)
- DirectX 11.0 or later
- WDDM 1.2 driver or later
Yeah, I think I'm going to need a new PC, I doubt any of my computers has all of these (maybe a combination, but definitely not all in one)
Edit: Also, since when did Visual Studio stop supporting .Net?! I suppose this must be some hacked-together version that only lets you use C++?!?!?!?
Well, bye-bye Managed sh*t I guess...Edit: Edit: And 30 Gb (Assuming not including the downloaded interim setup files)?! They better be giving me some high quality assets to play around with when (iirc) VS 2013 was about 4 gigs with extra options....

VS2013, yes? You may want to upgrade; VS2015 Professional (there's no Premium) has CodeLens.
-
@RaceProUK There is talk of upgrading to 15, but the code has only just been updated from VS2010/.Net 3.5, which broke a few things, and the high ups are nervous about upgrading again

Only seems to be this one (and, of course, the short ones where it doesn't even try, even if the OP is three screens worth of dwarf mafia stuff).
