That's how heartbleed worked.

"Sorry for your response" is a great way to genericize a non-apology.
-
You're reading too much into this guy's copy pasted hodhe podge english.

I do kinda want to be able to read
Reading? That's different.

Status: Apparently upgrading Visual Studio from 2010 to 2013 was enough to virtually solve almost all of theh cross-thread-access issues I've been having in my Bot.
With no code changes whatsoever.
At all.

Status: 3 goddamned hours on the phone with my boss, the Director of IT, and a Data Ops guy. And it turns out the fault wasn't in my code at all. The third party vendor who sends us the data found a new and exciting way of sending gibberish. Which, after hours of investigation, turned out to sum-up to an event ending before it began. Oh well, the logging we added will help next time they try to violate all rules of space and time.
Now too tired to stream a 45+ minute game.

Status: this is so cool!

How in the fuck is that a quote-
*checks raw*
Oh.

I don't read this thread but it should be renamed "The Multithread".
-
But why paper airplanes? Is that even paper?

Status: Confused. I just got a "Nice Post" notification without a corresponding "Mediocre Post" notification. I've never seen that except in /t/1000, and of course that's been disabled.
Edit: Ah, confusion resolved. It just took like 10 minutes longer for the "Mediocre Post" notification to make its way through Discourse's entrails.

Status: waiting for doctor. Called NHS 24, explained situation, assured I'd get a call back from doctor in 24 hours.
2 hours later, call to say I can have an appointment today at the walk in centre. "For a knee injury where I can't walk? Also, I live on the third floor, there are no lifts..."
-
Protip: nobody, anywhere, ever, wearing those "insert a phone" style 3D goggles is cool.
It is possible that dedicated 3D goggles may one day be considered cool.
But the "insert a phone" ones will never be.

10 minutes
That means the badge queries probably take at least 10 minutes.
Yikes.
-
10 minutes is probably a little bit of hyperbole, but it was long enough to see the notification, go to the badge page, find the post that triggered the notification, find this topic in Latest, read a half-dozen or so recent posts while scrolling to the end of the topic, and start that post. Maybe only 5 minutes? Also, although I'm not sure it really makes Discourse any less at fault, there was a minor bout of cooties about that time.

STATUS: Hateful 8 - theater full. Star Wars a few days after opening - half empty.

Status: Just had to force reboot my PC when I clicked on a link and the entire machine froze, turning every screen completely white.
*is wondering if Discourse is infecting her PC*

Status: Retracting my earlier statement about fixing the cross-threading issues. Apparently they can still happen, but not as much?
TL;DR: Time to ensure I have only one instance of the Entity Framework, which should mean it only tries to create one connection to the database, hopefully eliminating the problem. We'll see.
-
It may still use multiple connections if the DB provider under EF uses connection pooling.
-
status just now realizing the irony that given @arantor and @justyne 's lifestyle, it's @polygeekery who has that nickname.

Watched it yesterday. Good movie.
Star Wars a few days after opening - half empty.
You're about a month late on that buddy.

I dunno, this thing is fracking my brain.
The fun thing was, this bot is supposed to be extendable, allowing the creation of plugins for more functionality. I can't even get CORE functionality working right! An unhandled exception of type 'System.AccessViolationException' occurred in System.Data.Entity.dll
Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.Half the time it happens in SQLServerCE.dll, or Entity.dll, and almost always at random places. I think it's because it's not locking the in-memory objects while saving, and since it's occurring on a separate thread, this error happens. No idea how to fix this...

Status: Watching @blakeyrat play SMITE.

Wow you posted that just as I killed the stream, awesome timing.
I'll do a Twitch stream after lunch.

But it's Smite...
It's an ok game I guess.

STATUS: Saw The Hateful Eight. Like Reservoir Dogs with better cinematography and worse script. 7.5/10

Status: Tonight my wife says,
"(4 year olds' name) is always grabbing himself and inspecting his penis in the bath tub. How long until they grow out of that?"
"Grow out of what? Being fascinated by their junk?"
"Yeah."
"He is 4...I am 36...you have at least 32 more years."
"For fuck's sake, what is wrong with men?"
"Where should I start?"
"Good call."
-
-
We waited a while for it to make sense. Next year that is all ruined.
-
How long until they grow out of that?
Response:
Until it no longer feels good/interesting/weird/whatever-euphemism-you-want.
-
-
Never.
Wasn't that implied?
Of course, tragic event may not be considered growth, so...
-
Wasn't that implied?
Of course, but the world is full of idiots so I decided to spell it out for them. What can I say? I am a compassionate person. ;)

I, personally, did it
