hmm....
evil idea? :-D
-
No, just stupid design.
-
the idea was about abusing the stupid design....
Status: in the middle of redesigning SockBot to make him more stable. I've managed to introduce some instability in my hacks to slow him down and stop putting so much load on CDCK.... I need to rewrite large chunks of him to make it better.
Good news for @loopback0, @abarker and anyone else that currently uses @SockBot, it will be simple to upgrade (i hope) I'll have docs and everything for that.

Yes mistress Accalia++, I shall appear as summoned.

What the fuck, Discourse? Click on @aliceif's avatar.

Are you talking about the new preference for User Expansion Background (or something like that)? @aliceif isn't the only one to have it set.

Ran into a java dev acquaintance. Spent an enjoyable minute talking shop over the blaring folk music. Back to boredom.

This sounds sucky.

eeh. there's construction next door and they do weekends sometimes. The office is only ~3miles away and the grocery store is on the way home.

Putting it off until later, eh?

Right, you have that pretty office with all the candy.
I'm a bit jealous.

Status:
Code review came up with "all is OK, but please refactor logging to point to our common logging library instead of log4net".
Common logging library is log4net.
Actually, no. Common logging library is log4net with every interface redefined and some code copy-pasted, so that it has two more appenders and absolutely zero fucking support for custom properties in the log.
I'm making a web app. I want to be able to filter the log entries based on a presence of a property representing a web request (to log potential malicious activity) and/or a property specifying whether the request is modifying (for kinda-sorta audit trails). Also, include/exclude request body in some logs.
Apparently, fuck me, nobody needs that. Oh well.

Status: I should really be writing code but I simply haven't been able to work up the energy for that today.
So instead I'm writing the outline of the novel I've had in my head. Sod my demons that are convinced I have no skill.

Status: Performing work upgrading a specific system in UAT. Get a call saying there's a Priority-2 incident raised for its production counterpart being "slow".
Thankfully, not accidently upgrading prod and the two things not linked.

I need log4net in my project. I have a dependency on another project, which also needs log4net. I don't know where the fuck they got their version, but the public key tokens don't match and shit blows up.
One of these Mondays, I guess...

Status: I was never aware how *bad* some of the code I'm working with is. And how some really obvious bugs just crawled by unnoticed. Bugs that would have been found immediately if the place I'm working at actually did testing.
Whoops.
-
I see so many cases of "Works on my machine, time to deploy" here. Things like relying on tables that were added in the current version for a new feature in an external tool that can be used back to version 2.x. Luckily I picked up on that one because I have a test environment based on an older version
-
Well ...
We're talking about things like "If you open a Window, choose some things and click save, it saves the default values and not the ones you've chosen". With the relevant controls not being read from, ever, in the code.In other words, we're talking about "It compiles on my machine, time to deploy". Without even checking if it works.

Status: Tempted to finally give up on the Likes thread since there are now 1000+ posts for me to go through and the Like system is broken and seems to need triple-clicks to register, not to mention @ChaosTheEternal's script is unhappy with the situation.

How do I start it? Just run SockBot.js in the Windows Script Host or whatever?
EDIT: Apparently not
-
she's a node.js project.
you'll need node.js installed. then run
npm install
in the same folder as SockBot.js to get dependencies. then runnode SockbBot.js CONF_FILE.json
and away she'll go.
