If any of the climate trolls here wants to ask some questions to the NASA team, now you have a chance!

Apple rules their platform with an iron hand. No third party code interpreters allowed, meaning no HTML engines.
Frankly I think it's surprising they allow third party browsers in the first place, given that they ban pretty much everything that could compete with them. They probably do it just to keep appearances, so users won't realize how restrictive their platform really is.

On phones and tablets I have heard that Chrome is just reskinned Safari as they did not allow other browsers. Not entirely sure how true that is.

Status: Emailed my professor about a bug in the reference implementation of the thing we're supposed to implement for the current homework assignment.

current homework assignment.
Is it a calculator? Because I didn't want to tell my prof. that attempting to invert zero is supposed to flag an Error condition...
-
Let's just say it takes a call to this method:
and assumes it will never return null.
-
and assumes it will never return null.
If I'm interpreting that right, this could happen if the user hits Enter twice in a row?
-
No, that would return empty string on the second one. But if there's no input stream or the input stream gets closed, then the function returns null.
-
no input stream or the input stream gets closed
Ah. Not enough defensive code then?
Clearly the prof hasn't experienced real-world users....
-
Well, we're writing an optimizer for the Cool compiler that sits between the semantic analyzer and the code generator.
Fun fact: If your optimizer only needs to work some of the time, you can just replace the entire program with a NOP instruction.

Do you think Hank Hill will ever finally form a connection to his son?

Yeah, he will, whenever Stan, Kyle, and Kenny stop hanging out with Cartman.

It seems as if my implementation assumes in() never returns null.
I'll take a look.

Wait, you're serious?
Well, yes, actually. If you had somehow managed to get to me at least (on the same night).
Unfortunately, even if I had your BAN right now, I'm no longer able to access those systems (been a while since I worked there), so....But if I WAS, I would be able to check your RG's connectivity history and see that indeed you were down for services (or not) during the time you specified, and justify a quick credit for that.

apt-get purge

Wow you Lunix people need to catch up to journaling filesystems.

The weird thing is that AUFS is implemented on top of a journaling filesystem.

Maybe short circuit and a blown fuse?

Status: What is it with C# programmers and their inability to include the namespaces in their code examples?
Am I supposed to guess what plugin/extension/project/whatever I'm supposed to include, just so that I can use something like
ServiceUser
?Plus, if you're showing how to login using a C# client and a node.js backend, then don't link to an article using Javascript on the client when it comes to getting more information about the user you just logged in.
Okay, I could use the Http API to get info but for that I'd need an access token. I get a UserId and an AuthenticationToken as a string. Not the same (I tried). Gah.

I was thinking this very thing earlier today, except I wanted to loop two UPSs into each other...
-
And how much is credited for less than an hour of downtime?
Depends on how much you whine. I usually prorate a day, which is usually less than the cost of waiving the Event's costs.

That pisses me off, too.

I am pretty sure that is how they make flux capacitors.

IME not much. I just ignores the "input" power and stays on battery.except I wanted to loop two UPSs into each other...
Same thing, nothing happens.

Did you try it on purpose, or on accident?
I thought to increase the expected runtime of a series of APC units. I had them all side-by-side with the cords all coming from one end (looked like a start pattern, but all the cords were in the center).
Took me a minute to figure out why two units went on battery and never came back.

If you had done it on purpose, you would be a nerd hero.

Status: I've lived in this house 2.5 years, and I just noticed there's a second bus route that runs past it. (No, I'm not a complete idiot. It appears to be an express bus that makes no stops along this part of its route, so there aren't any bus stops for it, and it only makes two runs in the afternoon, so it's fairly easy to not notice. It also looks like it may have only started using this street as part of its route fairly recently, maybe??? At least the online schedule is recent, and I don't know if there's an easy way find an older version.)

Defensive much?

much?
Apparently living in a house for more than 2.5 years is a little frowned upon in today's world.

Status: Searching for @Sockbot, apparently @Loose is looking for him.
In the event I don't return, give @accalia my love. My only regret is that I could not serve her better.

No, I'm not looking, I just thought of the fun I could have if I was to go looking. BTW what relationship is there between sockbot and @shadowmod? Just asking, don't need a life history :)
-
Just asking, don't need a life history
I think they're alts for each other, performing certain functions each? I think @shadowmod is trusted more as well because of this...
edit: Oy, @Sockbot, where are you?
-
Yes mistress Anthony Tsaukpaetra of Unimatrix 08, I shall appear as summoned.
-
BTW what relationship is there between sockbot and @shadowmod?
@shadowmod runs an older version of the SockBot code.
I think they're alts for each other, performing certain functions each?
SockBot is owned by @accalia, @shadowmod is owned by @PJH.

mistress
I forgot you can't tell my gender. Thankfully, neither can I, but the typical default is male, no?
owned
I forgot that bots are mere things to be owned...
Well, at least one of my statements was true!
-
Thankfully, neither can I, but the typical default is male, no?
There's an equal likelihood of mistress/master by default with SockBot.
