Bet they've never even seen yogurt guy (censored version, nsfw comic version).
I have seen the face, but not the whole thing. Now all of those memes that include that face make soooo much more sense...
-
Guy has a website: string-emil.de (not linkified for obvious reasons)
Lots of weird pictures of himself in a g-string... most not as explicit, but still bad.
-
*would put
string-emil.de 127.0.0.1
in her hosts file, but she's on her office PC right now, and doesn't have write access*

Status: Belgium hell, why does that rate limiting option on the NAS unit have such limited filtering options such that it's catching iSCSI reads as well as outbound rsync traffic to the offsite NAS...
And why did I not stick to my Occam's Troubleshooting Razor guns two weeks ago and insist we try undoing the rate limit first

Status: I am become desensitised, the master of "meh".
Just saw all those "appalling" images.
Meh.

I hazarded a venture, just for shits and giggles. The guy sells t-shirts, coffee mugs an g-strings of him...in a g-string.
Please god, there has to be an English language interview with this guy.

**Status: *strong text just left this description on a PR:
bla bla bla... so we just saved 150KB from the min.js file :car:

Oh, and to make life better, the "dedicated iSCSI connector" for the backup server has, in fact, not been in use (rather than just the monitoring fscking up) because whoever set up the original iSCSI connection set up two different targets, one using the main LAN IPs, and one using the iSCSI network IPs (not MPIO, two separate targets to the same extent). So, server reboots, race condition, Q.E.D...

Status: Okay, i need to store about 140 pieces of reporting data per contact. no problem! i'll just toss that up into.... wait. 140 records per contact.... and we have about 500k contacts.... and we get charged by the cloud 2KB per record..... and we get charged 250$ per month per GB.....
/me does the math.
nope! that's not going to fly!

So, a couple of weeks ago we had a management reorg.
Earlier this week the new guy says "Why are we doing feature development 6 weeks before release? NObody else is."
I like him already.

Huh. We do new feature development after the beta goes out - and expect the feature to be in the RC. But then 6wks would be 3 releases out the door.

Status: The wife only has two weeks left in her maternity leave, so today she went out to lunch with her department to start to get back up to speed. While she has been out, their Associate General Counsel took another job, and they just hired the replacement.
Wife: "Yeah, her name is $NAME, blah blah blah"
Me: "They hired a woman as a replacement?"
Wife: "Yeah..."
Me: "Good move on their part, they can get the same work for 20% less pay."
Wife: -continues with her story-
Me: "I love how you gloss over my sarcastically misogynist comments."
Wife: "It is the secret of our marriage."

Why are we doing feature development 6 weeks before release?
Yeah! We have at least 5 weeks left before we have to start that shit. Now, if you'll all turn to your color wheels, you'll see that THIS shade of blue...

any suggestion?
PHP + JS

@accalia said:

Is that for data on the move or data at rest?
yes.
-
PHP + JS
With NetBeans? You know, the mediocre Java IDE?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p0OadRapq4
My random guess it that you should use phpStorm if possible but that's a paid product. Eclipse would also work.
-
why would you do that?
because work won't pay a license for phpStorm and Eclipse + PHP => pain
Netbeans support for PHP it's actually not that bad.
-
and we get charged 250$ per month per GB.....
You know you could literally fly to ~10 countries around the world, rent a small building in each with a fast internet connection, legally register as a company, buy a handful of high-end servers, hire a few people to do the manual work when necessary (replace hardware, etc), a security company to protect it, a suitable license for whichever database and OS you could possibly need, and a handful senior sysadmins to manage the whole thing remotely, and it would probably cost half of that.
Or a handful of those

Yeah, they shipped Windows 10 two months ago and they're still finishing it.
-
Well, yeah, but that's developing after release, not six weeks before.

until the powers that be understand that, we use netbeans. and I nag to them about proper tools and so...

Status: Dealing with Apple reviewer stupidity again. They're stating we didn't provide the full login credentials for the demo account for one of our ap updates, and my response was "we did" and a screenshot of the notes area on the app submission where we say "the secondary password you use to log in is: hunter2".
I'd rank this as the #2 dumbest thing I've gotten from them, edging out automatically refusing the developer account because of my boss's first name, but not quite reaching the level of "genius" that was "swapped the username and password" when trying to log in, and sent us the screenshot of it refusing the login.

Also, my post is a Discotime traveller:
(yes, I know it won't survive a real refresh, but still)

They know that as long as they control a large portion of the phone market they can do whatever they want to you.

-
oh we can afford it..... what the business won't swallow is that it's 20x what we currently pay for ALL OUR OTHER CRM DATA COMBINED

Heck, if $management is from the Left Coast, they'd realize that's barely enough money to buy a timeshare in a coat closet.

cut off 100% of his body
Where there's a will, there's a way!
Simply trace this Sharp Implement (carefully) around your personage, making sure to keep as close as possible (but not quite touching) said personage, and enjoy the benefits of being 100% cut off from your own body!

OR pirate a copy of a proper IDE, skin it to look like Netbeans, get your work done 10x faster and just goof off the other 90% of the time.
And then on your way out of the company, drop a dime to the Business Software Assholes...

Discourse: it's draining more effectively than most of my games on this unit!
Only most of them? On my S5, it was ~1% per minute. That was even with the screen off. If I locked my phone without minimizing Chrome, it would kill my phone in ~90 minutes from a full charge.

Yeah, I glanced at the window shade and wondered how I managed to drain 30% in the time it took to drive to church. Then I realized my mistake.

Status bored but I'm holding in a bathroom break so if someone frightens me we're all in for a nasty surprise.
Adding logging to pass the time. Fuck me this is boring but I've been bailed out by it before so maybe one day it will help someone somewhere. Anyone know a good book or resource for logging?
