At that time they weren't as huge as they are now, but they were still doing ok. They were at least doing, "hey if this shipment of laptops are all guaranteed to fail within 6 months maybe we should, you know, reclaim the working parts and stop shipping them to customers?" ok.

My company would. They question every expense that comes out of IT.
My company would, because it's run by cheapskates.

That is the story of how I got a free laptop upgrade from Apple. Although I deserved it for them selling me a lemon they knew was a lemon, fucking Apple.
That's what killed Gateway 2000.

- laws are made by people who have no specialized knowledge of the things they are making laws about
- the elected officials that make laws don't read laws or decide whether they should vote for them - an "advisor" tells them what to do
- everyone seems to be okay with this

3. everyone seems to be okay with this
Many people probably don't realize that this is the way things are. Many of those who are aware feel impotent in regards to fixing it. And the rest just don't care.

There's a . I have always subscribed to the philosophy of: This guy's costs me a shitload, if a few bucks worth of stuff will make him happier/more productive, he can have it.

Or someone who's computer is named 'Y', since that's how far up the alphabet they've come, and they are years away from naming their next computer 'Z'.
Edit: 'd by about 12 hours. Sorry about that.

Black sofas. Red floor. Giant white circular rug. It's almost as if they were trying.

The Brisbane winters are just about the perfect weather. Low to mid 20s C during the daytime and maybe hight single digits at night.
I think I will need to put on a jumper to go outside though.

Just because everyone does it, doesn't make it any less stupid.

I agree, but it's how it is.
Back to the specific problem, I'll probably just buy a USB SS extension cable.

Hedge your bets and set the alarm 5-10 minutes later than it currently is.

For two weeks now, my girlfriend's cat has been waking me up 10-20 minutes before my alarm goes off.
When my wife and I first started dating, she had two cats. One of them was a very small cat, she almost looked like a kitten. I spent the night at her house once and I woke up when it was just starting to be light outside. I open my eyes and there the cat was, laying on my chest, just staring at me. It startled the shit out of me, to put it mildly.

Cats do that.

Yeah well a lot of people used to think they were witches.

Status: now that I'm settled in this job I'm thinking about bringing in Godzilla or Gamera to decorate my desk... but I don't really want to give them up. Hm. I still have my plastic MST3K bots...

Her roommate at the time had a cat that I could have sworn actually was a witch. Or maybe a ninja. We always had "there's a glitch in the Matrix" moments with it.
In that house, there was only one path between the upstairs and the ground floor. That path was through the living room, right in front of the couch. My future wife and I would watch a movie and multiple times throughout the evening that cat would leave the upstairs, but we would never see it go back up. Kinda creepy really.

Can't you find another Godzilla or Gamera somewhere?
Oh, you could get pictures of it and get a 3d-printed copy made.

Yeah but then I think to myself: am I the kind of person who wants to own TWO plastic Godzillas?

Don't you think that ship sailed when you bought your first one?

How big was the space between the back of the couch and the wall?
Failing that, would there have been an open window upstairs?
-

Obviously not. Don't ask questions I've already answered.
Forum's broken again, this probably won't save...

Where did you post that you'd already answered that?
You could consider getting a different plastic figurine, something like this:

If you don't think that rifle-scythe was cool, well, I'm afraid we can't be friends any longer.
-

Well, that is inconsequential. The cat would have had to cross our field of vision to even get to the back of the couch.
Failing that, would there have been an open window upstairs?
Negative. I never did figure out how the hell she did that.

Good character design. Bad everything else.

I dunno. I think the world was interesting, although not really internally consistent. The story itself was, as well, although the dialog was mostly goofy.
-
I gave up very quickly. Soul Eater does their job better. If you watch it dubbed, it even sounds as bad.

I assumed that the dialog for RWBY was written by the same kind of people who write regular anime dubs. Also, something something @blakeyrat 's shoulder aliens.

The I guess she slunk through while you were looking at the TV screen. Cats, they move pretty quietly, you know.

THERE WAS A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX!! I told you that already.

The problem is, down there, jumper only ever means jacket, which it never means elsewhere.

Well I've never heard of it meaning jacket anywhere, but it means something other than dress in most places outside America.

That's the problem; you're not thinking in terms of proper English words.

If the "ship had sailed" why would I be debating it now?
You could consider getting a different plastic figurine, something like this:
I don't know what that is. I certainly have no idea what it is she's supposed to be holding-- is that a combination M4 machine gun and scythe? How is she even lifting it up? I guess carbon fiber?
If you don't think that rifle-scythe was cool

Is jumper short for jumpsuit? Because that would make some sort of sense

NFC, but that seems as plausible an explanation as I can come up with.
They always seem silly on adult women though. They are basically kids clothing.

From the Wikipedia article, they're 'jumpers' because you can 'jump in' to them.
Apparently.

I prefer @Jaloopa's explanation better. It is less retarded.
Let's go edit a Wikipedia article...
