How hard is it to get their/there/they're right?
Fixed. I'm a spellar/gramming pendant; I know the proper usage. However, I failed (again) to follow the advice in my avatar.

It's OK. You are with friends. We still like you even though you are mostly illiterate.

The GAU-8 weighs about 620 pounds, unloaded,
but
the complete weapon, with feed system and drum, weighs 4,029 pounds (1,828 kg) with a maximum ammunition load.
They have to take special precautions when removing the gun for maintenance so that the plane doesn't fall over backwards.
Also, the recoil is more than the maximum thrust of one engine, or more than 50% of the thrust of the pair; the pilot has to have the throttle sufficiently open when firing. And they had to modify the engines:When the GAU-8 is being fired, the smoke from the gun can make the engines stop, and this did occur during initial flight testing.... The A-10 engines now have a self-sustaining combustion section. When the gun is fired the igniters come on to reduce the possibility of a flame-out.

Your average minivan weighs close to 5000 pounds, probably.
-
WAT. Your average minivan weighs close to 5000 pounds, probably. I'm sure you could weld together a mount out of roll cage pipe that would support it.
It's not the weight you have to worry about. It's the recoil.

Status: wondering if I should release an update to a game that has these changes:
- a bunch of refactoring that won't make a difference to anyone but me.
- prevented a door from getting stuck on a ceiling.
- make ceiling fade time configurable.
- fixed elevators. (again)
- marine bots with flamethrowers stop firing their weapon instead of just not starting to fire their weapon when their enemy is on fire.
Apart from the elevator fix, they're all really minor things, especially the ceiling entity which nobody uses yet.
Should I upload the DLLs and just give people the option to upgrade? I've verified that stable version clients can connect to the new version servers and vice versa.

Nice. I was originally going to mention the weight of a door instead, but couldn't find an actual figure. I know that the Bricklin's doors weigh ~250lb, because they have a slab of aluminum in them. Then I was going to point out it's probably a little small to put a minigun on--but that car has a full roll cage like a race car.
My sedona's curb weight is apparently 5898lb, which seems suspicious in the light of your link, almost like it was rigged not to hit the 3 ton capacity.
-
It's not the weight you have to worry about. It's the recoil.
Well no kidding. If you were going to make a mount, wouldn't you build it sturdy enough? Besides, someone already linked a picture or video above, and I recall seeing an episode of Mythbusters with a minigun on an SUV.
-
won't make a difference to anyone but me.
Has that ever stopped you before?
I say, pedal to the metal, baby!
-
an accident that completely blocked a major freeway.
Damn. If that had happened here, oh, wait, it wouldn't affect me because I don't have a freeway between me and work. I could actually just leave my car at the office and walk home.
Although it rained this afternoon, so that would have sucked.

Why does anyone even bother with FILE_NOT_FOUND in the poll? It always[1] winds up being 100% of the vote.

I was wrong. I may think I am still in my 20's, but my stomach never fails to remind me that I am closing in on 40.

Also status: fuck tablet makers in their little tablet-making holes.
I bought a Win8 tablet for Mom lately, because she was complaining about the old one. Compared to my personal one, the hardware is nice - it has 3G and a full HD screen, same processor and RAM. But while they got the flashy stuff right, they made up for it in the essentials:
- No keyboard case attached.
- No docking port for keyboard.
- One, single, poor USB micro port
- Which also doubles as a charging port
- And to top all that, 16GB of storage.
Now for you Android lovers, 16GB for Windows is very tight, but somewhat manageable. That is, unless the OEM decides to fuck you by creating a 5GB recovery partition, so it leaves you pretty much a gig or two of space, tops. Obviously, you want to clear up the disk - and then you find out you're totally locked out of some folders - they require a smart card, which you neither have nor have anywhere to stick it in.
Then you decide to nuke the recovery partition. You copy it to the USB drive, and the wizard should theoretically let you remove it from disk after that, right? Wrong, no such option.
But hey, there's Diskpart, just nuke it from orbit! Great, but now your tablet refuses to boot.
And when you try to boot it from said USB drive, you slap your face and remind yourself that you have a single fucking USB port, and you need a keyboard to even get to UEFI, much less do the installation.

Hey how is Nuclear Dawn? I actually own that game and have never played it.

Status: Some dick stole my jerrycan from my shed, so I went to the hardware store to buy a new jerrycan and a lock for my shed. Turns out, the shed's door is so busted, it needs to be repaired before it can even close tightly enough to install the lock.
Even worse, finding this out required tearing down ivy and now my allergies have basically killed me. I'm dead.
-
That's a screenshot of Reactive Drop. Nuclear Dawn is a lot like Natural Selection. If you're going to play it, make sure you're on a server with a lot of real people.
-
I've never played natural selection, so that means nothing to me.
-
Basically you have one player playing an RTS on each team and the rest of the team are foot soldiers. You're trying to destroy the enemy team's base.
-
I've done it.
Now, I could close the poll, but I'd probably need to have another poll.

Eh, you can move most of the stuff to an SD card, or even mount it as an NTFS junction point or whatever it's called, so it's not that big of a deal. You just need some breathing space because AFAIR a mounted card doesn't increase free storage as seen by Windows, so the apps will refuse to install.
