Reset everything on fail seems like a very stupid thing regardless. I understand resetting CPU and memory settings, but not everything. What dumb brand does that?

@izzion I'm not surprised. I've already found it's definitely important to keep your hand in the right position, since that affects where your fingers want to go a lot.
So I've been tuning all evening yesterday and off and on today during gaps in work (blessing/curse of working at home) and I'm still not happy. Homing in though.
Well what do you know, right the evening I decided to get my azeron set up my G13's thumbstick gave up the ghost.
Getting it set up in wow was a bit of a hassle because of course it was. In part because I had to redo my entire hotbar setup, I'm using stock bartender now instead of a custom modded version, but also because I'm using gamepad mode now (actual analog movement controls!).
It'll be a bit of getting used to a different button layout and I'm sure I'll be moving action buttons around but so far it's working great.

As soon as we finish our reclears and I can afford to unlearn muscle memory I'll start swapping mine in. Though if the swap in goes well, I'll probably ask Santa for a second one this winter... I've kept a spare Tartarus on hand at all times since I had one fail on me in the middle of a three raids in four days schedule.

Not anymore!
Actually DnD only ever implied "Don't send notifications sounds/popups/vibrates". It never affected media playback, including webpages that play sound to emulate a notification.
Sleeping no longer actually "sleeps" the CPU in most devices, so it's easy to forget media playback can continue while "asleep".

The warehouse deliberately packs a damaged product, twice, and then offers a mere $10 off the $72 one (the other was $62) as compensation because they blame the shipper for the damage. Their packing, even on already damaged items, is so good (except when one dipshit does it inside out) that I haven't yet had damage that I'd blame on shipping. When I go to respond that their lie is insulting and their offer is not good enough, I find out they're closed next week for yet another "all of China shuts down" festival.
I'll have to file a chargeback, won't I? Should I wait the week or just get it out of the way tomorrow?

My gpd4 failed so hard the other day that it reset the time to January first 2022 0:00.
Between that and having to work I’ll never get to romance Judy.
Speaking of work... I’m having a @jinpa issue. I’m telling them whats wrong but I’m been ignored in favour of a long timer who can’t navigate to the page of the application he’s meant to be maintaining.

Yup - lower bills! (It was "only" about $250 - tho that also includes sewer and garbage service. Numbers rounded: water: $48, sewer: $125, garbage: $77)
-
@dcon You need 11 cubic meters of water per month? I need 3.5.
And you pay moon prices... Fresh water here is at 2.50€ per cubic meter (plus base charge of ~10€ per month), sewer about 2.20€ per cubic meter. Garbage is about 150€ per year.

The conversion from CCF to m3 is 1 CCF = 2.832 m3, so that's basically an average of 5.663 m3 per month of water. But the rate paid is $4.24 per m3 for water and $11.04 per m3 for sewer services, so that is higher than what you're paying.

Status: Worried about the DDF. I'm within a 2-hour drive of the path of the solar eclipse next month. I just ordered a telescope with which to view it. (Yes, a suitable solar filter is part of the kit. I'm neither stupid nor looking forward to blindness.) I also ordered a couple accessories — specifically, a camera/phone adapter. Said adapter is back-ordered until the end of this month. The eclipse will happen on 14 October, and it's a mite difficult to reschedule. I'm more than a little worried that the DDF will push the delivery beyond 13 October.
Status: Adapter has shipped and is in the local UPS facility in the adjacent suburb. It's supposed to be delivered Monday, almost 2 weeks before the eclipse. (I'm not sure why it wouldn't be delivered tomorrow; UPS delivers on Saturdays.) It's not too late for the DDF to work its magic, but it would have to work pretty hard to screw it up that much.
Edit: And I just got an email from UPS telling me my package will be delivered tomorrow. But it's a different package (printer ink).

@Zenith These motherfuckers are something else.
They did respond and now they're blaming customs for the damage. Talk about absurd. First off, the US is about the only country in the world that doesn't have legions of customs agents sniffing for VAT revenue. They're more concerned about drugs and the dogs can smell that stuff through a ridiculous amount of packaging. Secondly, you've got to see how this store packs stuff.
Core: window-boxed product
Layer1: form fitting bubble wrap (small air gap outside)
Layer2: double wall corrugated cardboard with clear packing tape
Layer3: eight corner guards held in place by store-branded packing tape
Layer4: store-branded plastic "bag" secured with more store-branded packing tapeThere's no way in hell that customs tore through, and subsequently neatly replaced, all of this, so they could look at a window box and tear open the side but not enough to see or remove anything they couldn't see through the window, not just once but twice inside of six months.
Now, when you have a customer that's spent thousands at your store this year, has thousands in preorders pending, and has only ever filed one lost mail complaint three years ago, do you risk that by telling lies to save $50 or do you do the smart thing and replace the damaged order?
-
@Zenith said in The Official Status Thread:

Customs would never neatly replace anything. They don't care. They don't need to care: they're the government.
-
@Zenith said in The Official Status Thread:

Look at that article in Wikipedia:
Especially the line:
In incidents in 2001 and 2006, one of his Steinway pianos was completely destroyed and another one damaged by security staff at New York JFK airport
-
@BernieTheBernie It's not that I believe customs wouldn't damage stuff. It's that I don't believe customs checks more than the most microscopic fraction of inbound shipments. We don't have a VAT, so there's no money to be found. If they're looking for anything, it's drugs, and dogs can smell an ounce of coke buried in 50lbs of Limburger wrapped in boiled football leather from three blocks away.
