Status: So since this drive is toast anyways, I decided to start H2testw on it (after using
blkdiscard
to trim the entirety of it).Initial performance looks great! 300 Mbps. Then it dropped. And dropped. And dropped. It seems the allocated pretend-SLC area is only 100Gb, and now the drive is writing at 20Mbps on average with long stutters.
I don't expect this test to finish.

When Windows 9x was a thing, this glitch happened when GDI resources were very low, which wasn't that hard to trigger accidentally.
But doing so on a Windows NT-based OS requires @Tsaukpaetra‐level abilities.
I can make Chrome disappear random letters on pages.

Status: I think I just about completely missed Blu-Ray.
Lately, I've been seeing more movies just not released on DVD. So I decided to take a look at Blu-Ray player options. Not much out there. Basically Sony, Panasonic, and random Chinesium brands. I guess Pioneer and Philips are shambling corpses at best.

I think you are confused with the UV index. The Irish aren't alowed out if there is too much sun. The country basically grinds to a halt for one day a year.

dont hold it like that. You're not a yank.
You can't drive unless you learn to breath at the same time.
you know the way you turned a joypad the first time you played a racing game. You're doing that.
why are you turning the wheel like that? You're not James bond.
don't gas it going over a speed bump. You're not the dukes of hazard.how can be supporting the french. Remember how Henry fucked us over!

That doubt is correct. For our current product I wrote a basic integration with an external tool that I personally have no idea how to use.

Status: Can we please stop forcing computer names to be legacy-dos compatible?
Especially when you decide to force the name to be based on the reported serial number, wherein the auto-generated name for
SystemSerialNumber
might be rendered assoc-ERIALNUMBER
and necessarily endanger naming conflicts!

Just because internally I'm mapped that it is reasonably named, doesn't mean I can't complain when others aren't.
For instance, because of this issue, it is literally impossible to build any Asus Motherboard based PC, because off the shelf they have that we the serial number string, which, natch, makes them indistinguishable when using this modality.
Typically we'd manually register them with (for example) a work order identifier, and the new tool makes the "serial number" field editable.
But you'll never guess what said tool does with manually-typed into input....
It ignores it.

Status: Stuck in traffic.
For the last few months, there’s been a construction site on this part of the highway leaving just one lane (per direction) open, for a stretch of I think 6+ km. Well, construction in scare quotes, because as usual I never see anyone working, and it’s probably going to last at least until summer.
Now apparently there’s been a traffic accident in the one lane that was left open and everything’s completely stuck. Asking the phone’s navigation it wants me to go the completely opposite direction (it apparently can’t tell which lane I’m in), which of course I can’t do. However, it shows a good 15km (!) of the upcoming road in red.
Ambulance has passed through, but I haven’t moved one bit in 30 minutes now.
