Well it was working fine until I change the primary key and forgot to update the code that generates new IDs (apparently if you switch from the default Identity from String to your own type you're expected to create your own? Perhaps I should read the docs).

Status: Too dark to install a mailbox. I had to buy a new one because the little clip that provides friction to keep the door shut broke off. Gorilla Glue didn't work because fuck Gorilla Glue. It says it works on metal but all it did was foam up and peel off. No wonder some moron thought they could use it as shampoo. Wen to Lowes and Home Depot and of course you can't just buy that part. Fortunately they had what looks like the exact same mailbox for $20. I thought about buying an $80-$90 one with a magnet but I decided to be a cheapskate.
I'm also trying to figure out how to set up shelves around these stupid baseboard heaters. I can only seem to find covers for the heaters, like if you turned them off but didn't want to rip them out and redo the trim. What I need is something like a platform that I'll probably have to build myself:

Yeah, unfortunately when they thought out how those would work they assumed you would never need to put something along the wall where they were installed.

This house has surprisingly few usable walls. Most of the doors, including closet doors, are placed in corners. Then it seems like any given section of wall has a heater or a window (but rarely both). In the one room, they put these corner cupboard things, about seven feet high with surface area being a triangle shape that basically waste two wall sections for half the shelf space of a normal bookcase. I don't want to pull those out yet until I have the budget to A) repair God knows what damages are behind them and B) replace the flooring. Plus it's sort of an open cathedral roof situation between the living room and the dining room so no wall in between to put anything.
It looked nice until I filled the place up with all of my junk.

How's that workin' out for ya?
Apparently enough for someone to ask on the Discord if the servers were up because they were having issues (which I fixed and thence they posted that message).
Sadly, some of the people before I fixed it might not try again later, but it seems there's still a trickle of interest...

If you watch house flipping shows or whatever the modern equivalent of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" is, the trend seems to be for people with money to have these wide open houses with practically nothing in them.

There's a decent 2-part epoxy sold in putty form, works okay on aluminum and stainless.

You needed the UPS driver - since they carry doggy treats.

I figured that with all the old garbage hardware you have laying around you'd start a computer museum at some point.

Hey this is new garbage hardware! Unfortunately the actuation switch for the primary mouse button has worn out, and attempts to swap it with the secondary switch... failed. So I got a new one (with an extra button!)!
Unfortunately, the roller nubs on this one are not nearly as smooth and so the ball is a bit more difficult to control than I'd like, so looking for solutions...

New mailbox looked like it was the same as the old mailbox. It's actually an inch narrower. So now it doesn't fit on the post without a mounting block (Sold Separately ). Thinking now that, since I wasted time and money anyway, I might as well buy a fancier mailbox on the next trip to Home Depot.

If the only thing wrong with your old one is that some clip broke, couldn't you fabricobble something together?

I regularly get these fake phishing emails. If I use the report button in my email client, I get a "you passed" message, or if I click the link/download the attachment I get "you failed."
This time I just got "thank you for reporting this incident," so I think it was a real one.

Or they want you to think it wasn't a test.

Yay, logging issues. I can't check the logs for errors because logging doesn't work. I can't run locally to see what the problem is because... Logging works fine locally. I can't look on the server it's deployed to because it's Azure. Not really sure what else I can do

Not using app insights, it's logging to Kibana

You might have good results with a selectively-self-adhesive surface on the ball and rollers. The axles need lubricant. The balls themselves require consistent friction to maintain registration.

Status: Checked tracking info. Optical fiber I bought is literally on a slow boat from China (except it isn't actually on the boat, yet). It's in transit, in Jiaxing (which is a seaport city, so I suppose it could possibly be on a boat since the last posted update), but it isn't expected to be delivered for over a month.

Actually false, since the mouse uses an optical sensor the friction coefficient has nothing to do with movement detection.

The balls of mice, still require consistent friction. Optical mice tend not to have balls. And the shaft encoder can't encode a correct signal if the ball movement doesn't transmit isotonically to the shaft.

Can you not return it?
I hate returning stuff like this because it makes me look stupid. Stupider than trying to follow these dopey instructions on the mounting block. I'm pretty sure the mailbox has the wrong holes drilled out or I used the wrong screws. But it's not wobbling anymore and I'll have plenty of time to figure out a better solution when I'm unemployed.
