Sure sure, but you should still be able to determine the end file size (if it exists), right?
Fuck it. Since all I want is a progress bar, I made a wrapper-stream object that just proxies away all the stream methods to a base stream and keeps track of Read and Write requests.
It works fine, so long as you don't try to seek, but since this is a straight-up download this should Never Happen.Making the downloader side worked fine.
Now trying to make the uploader side and... all is not fine.
For some reason the HttpRequest is cancelling itself before it starts, and it's also reading the entire fucking file into RAM before attempting to start sending it. How can I limit a MemoryStream so it doesn't auto-increase capacity and instead block the
asyncWrite
call until something has been read?

The other option is to take 4 days of 7-8 hours per day.
That's how I'd do it. I get too sleepy on long drives to drive safely for more than a few hours at a time.
It took us roughly 12 hours to go from Vegas to NM, with some Grand Canyon sight-seeing in between. I did only 3 hours of that driving, and unlike driving here you really had nothing to do except lock the wheel straight (guess that’s where the movies come from where they go in the back of their camper and make coffee), yet I was completely exhausted.
Speaking of.

Yes and yes.
Although at some point I asked for something different (don't remember) than cetirizin that they claimed wouldn't make you so sleepy and it was exactly as bad.
But no worries, after one or two weeks it changes from "so tired I could sleep all day" to "so tired, yet I can't sleep at all anymore".

But no worries, after one or two weeks it changes from "so tired I could sleep all day" to "so tired, yet I can't sleep at all anymore".I'm using a spray and eyedrops based on Azelastinehydrochloride (in Germany the trademark would be Vividrin). There's also stuff based on Cortisone.
But yes, Cetirizin is something I only consider when I don't need to get things done anyway. Back during my civil service I was part of a meals-on-wheels service for the elderly, which entailed driving around with a car quite a bit. Some asshat substitute doctor gave me that stuff and told me: "Yeah, the reports about making you sleep are overblown!"
Next day I nearly planted the car in a ditch because of microsleep. My regular doctor exclaimed: "What moron gave you a prescription for that?"

Status: AC is on the fritz, so with an outside temp of 77°F (25°C) and an inside temp of 80°F (thanks to a window that needs to be replaced not being open to help with airflow), I decided it's as good a time as any to clean out my PC.
Now, 100% CPU has the temp at 58°C instead of 68°C as it was a few days ago, and "idle" is bouncing around 39-40°C. It should be lower, but with the inside temp so high, I'll have to take what I can get.

So far this year, I've been lucky and not really needed to take anything. All I'm really getting is an occasional sneeze and a little itching, rather than the kind of feeling where taking wire wool to my eyeballs would be a blessed relief. But there's still time yet! June's one of the peak months round here… and is next month.
-
@dkf In that case I recommend the spray & eye drops - those don't seem to have those nasty side effects and work well if it's not way too much. It's over the counter in Germany and a set cost me ~15€. It's also nice that you can use it when you need it - I had something else previously which you had to use four times a day as a preventative. Forgot to use it once? Have fun for the next hours. But Azelastinehydrochloride works rather well and quick. That's my subjective experience, of course!

And it saves me from learning Papyrus (), but I think I will be able to code some stuff I had in mind way back when. Not that I'll be playing it again. Maybe I'll just upload it to Nexus for a few internetpointzz...

I didn't put any expired food in my computer, if that's what you mean. But my setup is still a bunch of second-hand crap held together with chewing gum and fake Scotch tape, so who knows what further adventures I'll have with it

I'm now wondering WTF a pex file generated from a library of functions would actually do to permanently fuck up the game installation so badly a nuke and pave is necessary....

@Tsaukpaetra modders usually make for awful programmers, for all the same reasons why open-source sucks but more so.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Eh, I don't worry about that. usvfs (https://github.com/ModOrganizer2/usvfs) is the greatest thing that has happened to modding since loose files. And if your engine or game doesn't support loose files (or at least an override folder), it's and it sucks. Yes, UE, I'm looking at you.

It's a fucking battery that needs to supply (apparently) less than 40 Watts of power for more than three seconds. This piece of shit seems to assume that if it's not drawing at least 100 Watts everything must be turned off and so it shuts itself off.
I think i wrote about this previously...
