A few months ago I had fun writing my own duck fart encoder. Let me know if you want some messages.

Apparently free-forever email stops working if for some reason you fill up your Google Drive storage?!
Google Account storage is all the same - so your emails and your files use the same quota.
Yeah. It wasn't when I signed up.
When and with what variant did you sign up? General free GMail has always had a limit; it started at 1 GB and went up over time to 15 GB (and stopped there) many years ago.
It was unlimited messages. Attachments counted against your limit, but emails themselves (so long as they didn't have attachments) basically didn't (since, you know, how many millions of 2kb messages can you fit in a gig?) it was effectively unlimited.
If only we still got email with 2 KB of actual text; those days are gone thanks to HTML mail and security headers. Looking at my own GMail, I'm using ≈ 1.5 GB for ≈ 26,000 messages. That's ≈ 57.7 KB per message. 1 GB / 57.7 KB ≈ 17,300 messages. Today's 15 GB would be ≈ 260,000 messages, though I'm using a bit of that for Photos and Drive. (Not very much, though; most of my pictures in Google Photos are free compressed ones and I use Dropbox instead of Drive for quick file sharing.)
So, technicalities. 15 GB is enough for my lifetime (if nothing changes), but wouldn't be for others.
I kinda miss the little counter for how much space you had available, though. (Over 1385.27429 megabytes and growing! :)

I've had email chains at work that contained no attachments but were still too big for Outlook to send. This tends to happen when you have to play 100 rounds of hot potato before someone on the appropriate team decides to actually take a look at the problem.

Counters like that always amused me. Like, you know it's not actually increasing the size, but...

status I was feeling really tired this morning (darn it old dog, 5a is TOO early!). So I took a nap at 9a. And woke up at 10:30. Luckily I have zero meetings today. And I do feel a lot better now!

Status: Replacement parts arrived, computer chair repaired, butt and back no longer in pain. Reseller never bothered replying, so fuck MyOfficeInnovations/HiTouch Business Services.
Though every guide I found about removing the chair base made it seem like you only needed a few firm taps on the legs (switching from one to the next) with a rubber mallet or towel-wrapped hammer to get the base and pneumatic lift separated. For my chair, it took nearly 20 minutes of larger force swings, uncovered hammer straight onto the metal base, and some added lubricant to get the damn things separated.
Next time, I'm probably just buying a new chair outright.

duck fart
TIL (after seeing a bunch of results about mixed drinks, baseball, and farting)
weekly and monthly broadcast tests, as well as weather alert messages. During the said events, viewers and/or listeners will hear these digital codes in the form of buzzes, chirps, and clicking sounds (or what broadcast engineers affectionately call "duck farts")[5] just before the attention signal is sent out and at the conclusion of the voice message.

You could spend $2K on a nice MSI gaming laptop and send it to me, and you'll save $2K in the process!

Yeah, it'll break in about 35 seconds if my experience is any indication. And be sub-par while operational, except in quantity of GAMER BLING.

Status: Today's my last day before I'm on holiday tomorrow. Yesterday I managed to get some actual automatic builds and tests done for this current project, today I'm just wrapping up some things to have it at least in a somewhat stable state.
Aside from the occasional hiccup, working over remote connection has been going pretty well the last weeks. Now for the last two hours the connection keeps dropping immediately. Like, NX tells me it timed out, I reconnect, and it times out again somewhere between "30 seconds later" and "before I can transmit one single mouse click".Well, well, look at the clock... Fuck this shit, I'm out!

Not just Windows. Happens every time clang gets updated via Xcode, until I type in some magic incantation that fixes whatever toolkit path bullshit is going on.

Something very weird happened to your computer.
ctype.h
is part of the standard library and should be available whether you have SDK or not - in particular, it should be visible to SDK as external file it can include.

I'm not trying to, it's set to that by default despite me doing my best to have deleted it (I guess I failed) and not having the desire to put effort into eradicating it from the registry.
Oh, and it's also not in Add and Remove Programs either:
It's just a ghost I have to deal with.

Status: Poor mom.
So, someone (apparently) cut the coax cable on the outside of mom's house, so her Internet isn't working. Apparently such damage is not covered under Cox's ToS, and she (rightfully, IMO) didn't want to pay, since I told her fitting a new connector to the cut end would be significantly cheaper than $150 for the tech guy to do it.
So I send her two links for what she needs to get the cable back in working order (Lowes links because that's where she said she was going):
Conversation just now:
Totes loves ya mom, but did you not show him what I sent? It's hard to imagine even Lowes associates taking a look at the product page and deliberately directing you differently.
I just have to wonder how the conversation went.
Hi how can I help you?
I need connectors to fix my internet... I don't have any tools to make the wires.
Oh, here's these BNC connectors, they don't need crimper tool! They're not for Internet, but maybe you simply don't know enough!
Oh thanks! I'll try it!

Continued.
So, she found the one I said to get, and still wants to get the wrong one.
I'm frankly disappointed how little faith she has in me.
Oh well. Hopefully she checks back in before doing anything and wasting the connectors that won't work for her.
