I'd except v2.0 to be less buggy.

it's been 6 hours and @PleegWat 's post to ht eNSFW thread is still tempting me. Alas I am still at work at the event i'm working on so can't open that thread.....
Distressingly it's now the only unread thread in this forum........
WHY MUST YOU TORTURE ME?!

Naturally. And different GUIDs, but nobody pays attention to those....

@Tsaukpaetra You only got it once on SO. The weirdness is on Meta.SO, which is a complete waste of time anyway so who cares?

Nobody, and the only reason I noticed is because someone linked me to a SE site and I happened to click the notifications.

On MathOverflow?!?
You’ll be kicked off there and told to post somewhere else first, then wherever they kick you to those people will tell youCLOSED_TOO_BROAD

Or maybe not, the MathOverflow people seem to be somewhat nice.

@Tsaukpaetra in fact, the instruction literally says "EXACTLY 20 minutes!" (sic)

I'm not proud of the third one, but at least I delivered what I wanted to without anything embarrassing happening. Should have prepared them well in advance. It didn't help that the home server died in the middle of the week. The Allwinner H3-based single-board computer was great while it lasted (almost 3 years, according to U-Boot compilation date), but now I have to shop for a replacement.

i solved that by writing a 30 minute presentation and just..... stopping at 20 minutes on the dot.
i actually had a countdown timer the whole time along with a percent complete indicator in the top left of the presentation so the whole class could see how much longer i was going to be talking for. When the time expired the laptop running the presentation shut down (planned) and the presentation was over.
I got a C, which I though was rather unfair. so for the next presentation for the same criteria i recorded a 20 minute video (well 60 but i edited out all the rambly bits to get it down to a concise 20 minutes) and played that as my presentation while i lipsynched to words (badly)
I thought that was a clever approach to the requirement.... but noooooooooooooo that wasn't in the spirit of the rules. so I got a D. If it's not in the spirit of the rules stop penalizing me for not have a 00:20:00.000 on the nose presentation. if i lose points for going over, and for going under then my motivation to end on time is stronger than my motivation to have a good presentation!
I complained to the head of the department after that and..... well my grades weren't changed, but then i hadn't asked for them to be, in fact i stated i didn't want them to be. i wanted the grading criteria adjusted so that getting a good grade did not require being omnicient (or at least be a seer what could accurately to the millisecond predict the future)
I won i think? the penalties for off timedness went up by 20x, but now there was a 60 second window before they kicked in. you had to be between 00:19:30.000 and 00:20:30.000
so... yay winning?
i flunked the course, but was allowed to audit it the following year and they would adjust the prior semester grade.... so that was okay.

@Vixen oh man, i forgot about that presentation.
I'm bored waiting for the show to open so i looked up my notes from that class....... my final presentation was..... wow....
at that point it was impossible for me to pass the class, so i decided to satirize the final presentation. which because it was the finals was a 40 minute presentation.
I did 'The sound of silence."
i didn't talk at all. instead i stood next to the screen and had cartoon voice box things appear on screen containing the text of what i was going to say, and the content was a rather in depth, technical discussion of how the human ear hears, and what exactly silence sounds like, because the physiological processes that produce the sense of hearing don't have an "off" state, so as the level of true input goes down the spurious inputs caused by squishy bags of flesh trying to be computers become more and more relevant and eventually take over as the primary source of excitation, and at that point you hear.... well you hear what silence sounds like..... which is mostly what you sound like....
According to my notes i actually got a B+ on that one and i'm not sure if that was a pity B+ so would get a D- instead of an F or if it was because the professor thought that an interesting and engaging way to present the information....

To be fair, it is off topic for a site about research level maths. Maybe should’ve gone to the MathExchange sister site1. Or something else, like cstheory. I don’t actually know where it fits well, that’s a bit of a problem, but I see it not fitting there.
1 I tried that once myself and failed, too. They seem to be mostly focused on generic, simple as fuck undergrad maths.
The question I had was more complex than that, it was for my research but certainly not research level maths. Any decent math grad student could probably answer it, but I didn’t know where to look these things up (or have time to study a few semesters worth of math, obviously) and didn’t get a decent answer even with a 200 internetpointzzzz bounty on it.

My solver works!
I used a hybrid approach, using the sets to reduce the unknown values as far as possible, and produce a list of rules.
If it can get it down to 13 squares or fewer unknown, it switches to brute force, then it tries every permutation and sees if it can find exactly 1 that satisfies all the rules collected.

You should write a cron job.
That would require both a (reasonably) accurate timer source, and adequate trigger response habituation as a background daemon.
Things don't come free!

Cooked it. Since the reason the original cook was cancelled was overboil, I replaced liquid lost with standard water. It showed, because it was definitely less flavorful.
I added some extra cheese and a chicken patty.
Now to fold all my clothes...
