Are they still a thing? I haven't used eBay proper in at least a decade, seems like Amazon listing 3rd party vendors swallowed most of their market.
certainly noticed that if it ain't prime shipping your user experience is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse.......

Surprisingly. I don't want to make a suicide joke...but their failure isn't for lack of trying. They have so many self-inflicted problems and pile on more at every opportunity. I expect Mangled Payments to be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
Mangled Payments is where they won't let you use PayPal anymore and do a bi-weekly bank payout like Amazon. It's so broken that the support forum is actually hidden from people that haven't been lured into it yet. There's serious fear that, aside from the bugs and breaches, eBay is going to use it as another club to beat sellers with. Eventually, everybody will be forced into it, whether it works or not, and that's where I think casual users are going to drop out. Casual users, who buy a little and sell a little, have historically been their base and I don't see them jumping through these hoops for a trickle of sales. I've been on eBay almost as long as there's been an eBay, the last seven years as a "business" seller, and I won't do it. As those smaller operators drop out, and take their less-commoditized inventory with them, the reasons to shop there instead of, say, Amazon or other real stores basically evaporate. The push for more advertisements everywhere seems to acknowledge that few sales are happening so they're shifting the focus to monetizing views and that's a model that falls apart when listings dry up.
Of course, people have been predicting the end of eBay for a decade now so who knows how much longer they'll limp along.

I'm so glad that there's 2 shops within easy driving distance that carry the larger sizes (M4 and up), and you can buy by weight. I only need to stock the normal, small, easy ones.

Depends what you're buying. Car parts vendors, for example, don't generally tend to sell through Amazon. Especially used car parts. That's most of what I get on eBay.

Am I reading this right, that their normal subscription is $16/mo? And all I get is 140 whatever music channels? (apparently only 100+ of those are ad-free )
YouTube-Fucking-Premium is only $12/mo, and apparently I can download all the music I want offline (and it will be music I choose, not whatever the station decides
Itheir listeners might want to hear). Not to mention, you know, fucking YouTube. Can anyone tell me a real benefit to this shit?

@Tsaukpaetra The benefit is that Sirius XM is satellite. You get reception absolutely fucking anywhere and with the same stations the whole way. And you can't quite get the radio experience with downloaded music - the point is to listen to lots of songs in one category music, not the five specific songs you like enough to waste space on your phone with.
-

I have a 256 GB SD-card that has weeks worth of continuous music that requires no reception.
And even if I didn't, phone connects to the radio too and offers a much wider variety of access options (many even available offline), so "the whole way" is covered for cheaper.
@pie_flavor said in The Official Status Thread:

I beg to differ: Set the Genre and enable shuffle, don't hit Next Track ever and you've got the experience IMO.

If your phone can hold a mere five songs you've got my phone from 2005 or you're doing something wrong.
And back then I fit 50+ songs on my 64 Mb SD card, so....
-
@Tsaukpaetra Your SD card requires you to first find good enough music to fill it with. Your phone radio does not have the consistency; if you go long trips or remote locations you will not always be able to find 'your' music.
Also, re: price, that's the price they open with. Every time you ask to cancel they'll offer you a lower price. 50% off is common.

TIL going on trips magically alters music stored on your phone. Somehow.

I hate the back-and-forth of haggling, and only barely tolerate the need to "window shoppe" for the best price (notice I didn't say "lowest").
Fuck that noise.

Ah, you're misinterpreting. Phones do not typically have an AM/FM radio for receiving broadcast radio (unless it's an older China phone, sometimes).
When @Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

I meant "I pair my phone via Bluetooth and play songs stored on said device through the (vehicle) radio's speakers".

Listening to radio more or less guarantees a 20-80 good-shit ratio, even on stations that play genres I actually like so I fail to see how radio actually provides good enough music to listen to.

Sirius XM is a paid service, so they provide music that paying customers would want to listen to. Plus there's 50% more channels than the FM band, and so probably 150% more channels than you'll actually find on the radio.
