😈 The Evil Ideas thread

Yes, religion is a handy way of drawing the "Us" and "Not Us" line.
Some of the most heinous things humans have ever done to each other have been sold via the method of "Your Deity Commands It".It's just not the only one, and a lot of atrocities have happened based on a multitude of other lines - skin colour, economic theories, wealth, country of origin to name but a few.
Humans like to pigeonhole, and then leaders can...
You know, perhaps I'm wrong and the problem is actually charismatic leaders.
We could try removing/killing them for a few years, see what happens.-Though that would mean Ed Miliband would become the next UK Prime Minister. Perhaps not.

Yeah, or the bible
Find a place in the New Testament advocating the kind of things the Koran is full of. You'll have to work harder. Jesus and Mohammed could not have been more different.
-
I am not doubting you, but could you link to a source so I can bask in the WTFery?

Jesus said very explicitly that his coming changed nothing and all of the old laws were still in effect, so your point is moo. I believe it was Matthew 5:18?
And let us not forget that Christians and Muslims pray to the same god, in different ways...
-
The original blog appears to have been taken down, but if what they quote is accurate...holy shit... SJWs and their bullshit...
-
all of the old laws were still in effect
Among other things, the several hundred Levitical laws do not apply to Christians. For another, Jesus healed the ear of the soldier who came to take him away, whereas Mohammed was all about killing infidels.
-
In reality, I think there was disagreement between the followers of Peter (who taught every christian should be a jew first) and Paul (who thought anyone could be a christian). Modern christianity primarily follows Paul, which is the reason so many of his letters are included in the bible.
-

So did Jesus lie? Is the bible lying? Or, are just interpreting it how you wish?
-
Is the bible lying?
It's certainly been heavily edited, despite that bit in Revelations.
Huge tracts of possible scripture were added, removed and rewritten over the first few hundred years.
The Roman Catholic and Protestant Bibles are different. Unsurprisingly, the Catholic one is longer.

When is the last time you heard of "atheist fundamentalists" forming a terrorist cell? Or enslaving a group of people? Or committing genocide?
It's been answered already, but this was a pretty major thing in the 20th Century.
-
Que?
-
In the 20th century, people have done terrible things in the name of atheism. And in the name of religion. And in the name of all sorts of other things.
People are sometimes terrible, OK? We've got to watch out for it, whatever our creeds (or lack of).

Citation needed.THE ATHEIST ATROCITIES FALLACY
The atheist atrocities fallacy is a multifaceted
and multidimensional monster, comprised of a cocktail of illogically
contrived arguments. It is, at its core, a tu quoque fallacy,
employed to deflect justified charges of religious violence, by
erroneously charging atheism with similar, if not worse, conduct. But
it is much more than this, for within its tangled and mangled edifice
can be found the false analogy fallacy, the poisoning of the well fallacy, the false cause fallacy, and even an implied slippery slope fallacy.

Ok,
I guess I have to be more clear.
While discussing with someone else, they spoke the comment you just quoted. And the rest of the discussion followed.
I'm not on the opposite end. I agree with you. I just don't understand how someone could be so vehemently against self-defense, to the point of handing over the entire innocent population on a platter to anyone who feels like slitting a few throats.
Fuck that!
-
You'd like to think that, but then there was that woman who was raped in Haiti, while helping rebuild after the earthquake or whichever disaster it was a few years ago, and blamed herself because of privilege or something stupid.
Premeditated Stockholm?
Look, those types of people are complete irrational. They've lied to themselves enough to believe their lie.

Well, you had me at:

Also, I seem to have stumbled into the What the hell am I even reading? thread.
If they had been as badass as the real Khan, we'd still be in the dark ages.

Here's a thought: can we move all this religious/history wank to the other thread that's become about religion/history and keep this one for actual evil ideas?
-
i'll second that motion.
could one of our resident TL4 people get on that? please?
-
It was all me, and wasn't worth keeping.
-
well if you think that's a better solution.
still, to avoid any possiblity of anyone else misunderstanding: for the record i didn't ask for them to be deleted, just categorized better
-
I didn't like my posts after a second thought.
They weren't constructive, and didn't actually answer any of the questions here.
-
So is that a "never mind" on the move then?
-
given that @xaade deleted his posts.... -shrug- i guess so?
-
Seems all I did was just abstract the conversation one level...
Well as long as that satisfies @Yamikuronue.
-
They weren't constructive, and didn't actually answer any of the questions here.
When did that ever stop anyone?

When did that ever stop anyone?
It certainly doesn't stop me! (I leave that to having to do other things too… )

Evil idea: fucking with a pervert
When I got home last night, my fiancée told me she'd just got a string of explicit twitter messages from someone she used to do that sort of thing with years ago. He knows she's engaged, and he's married. He was talking about reading some of their old messages and having a wank, asking if that was a complement, finishing with "I wonder what your pussy tastes like".
She left it a few minutes, then replied as if she was me finding her phone, shocked at finding out I'm being cheated on in this way. The guy got very apologetic and promised to stop.
After she told me this, we decided to have a bit more fun. She messaged back with "WTF did you just send me?" "J just smashed the kitchen up and left. OMG, this is bad", while he was apologising profusely and telling her she hadn't done anything wrong and that I should believe her. (no shit, sherlock!)
In the end, she told him that I believed her but was still pissed off, and he deleted his twitter account. I feel slightly guilty about it, but he started it
-
I feel slightly guilty about it, but he started it
Well, that's probably for the best. I would actually be surprised if he hadn't been hoping (whether he'd admit it or not) for a different response. It seems like the sort of thing which, even if his intentions really were "innocent," leads to a bad place.
Maybe this will scare him straight.
-
That's some pretty masterful trolling. Bravo!

Edit: Hatted.

He should be hatted

He should be hatted
You hat a few dozen avatars, and everyone expects all your images to be hatted ...

If I make a custom Discourse client one of these days, how much would you willing to pay for a hatting plugin?

Let's me do some calculations ...
add that there ...
carry the two ...
multiply by four and ...
Total: $0.00

you did the math wrong.
the correct total is $-1,999.99
plus tax of course.

Oh, right. I added instead of subtracting early on. My bad!

Fine, I'll just sell it directly to Jeff then. Sheesh.

Idea for an Eclipse plugin:
Replace every occurrence of "Bean" with "BadgerBadgerBadger"
Replace every occurrence of "Factory" with "MushroomMushroom"
Replace every occurrence of "Singleton" with "AaaaaahItsASnake"How about incorporating it as a mandatory feature? Then when users complained, they'd be told that it wouldn't be an issue if their code weren't so enterprisey and close their bugs WONTFIX_DOING_IT_WRONG.
