🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD
-
I'm going to go ahead and say the name of this Ruby gem is a bad idea:
https://github.com/radamant/analdiffist
...and now I see it juxtaposed with the guys avatar.
The inspiration for the name:

No. Just...no.

A man in Norway faces up to six years in jail after he sawed his neighbour's outhouse in two on the grounds that part of it jutted over onto his land.
-
-
This... is a thing, and apparently has been a thing my entire life...
-
This is also a thing...

That's horrifying. Surely it doesn't actually taste of clams?
Tomato juice and beer doesn't sound that great even without adding seafood.
-
Yup. I like it. (but then I grew on in New Jersey and ate clams by the bucket)
-
nothing can make Bud better.

first of all, whatever they are referring to as an outhouse is not a house, as the title claims. second, outhouse means something entirely different than whatever they are actually referring to in the article. I imagined some poor guy pants around his ankles tumbling ass backwards down that hill as his dipshit neighbor pulls away the half with the toilet seat.
-
There's apparently "female viagra" now. They decided to call it Flibanserin because lojban was too simple to pronounce. It's apparently made by Sprout. Also, you can't drink alcohol if you use it. Ever. Or you will die.
-
Apparently this product (which is basically just fat and salt) is better than other products in the same family because its ingredients are untouched by evolution.
I would like to introduce a new brand of non-GMO table salt. Also, non-GMO granite countertops.

According to Wikipedia, "Outside North America, the term "outhouse" refers not to a toilet but to outbuildings in a general sense."

Clamato's good stuff. I prefer V8 though. Buy the low-sodium, it tastes the same and V8 has an insane amount of sodium normally.

If low-sodium V8 tastes the same to you as regular V8, you're a space alien.
-
If low-sodium V8 tastes the same
I will be just as unlikely to buy it as regular V8.
-
It is different, but the reduction is worth it. I just wish that they did the spicy one in low salt (or if they do that I could find it).

It's made by @mott555's?
-
Yes. I operate a well-known fruit-juice factory from my 600-square-foot apartment.

V8 is okay. I think it's the clam broth that throws me. It's just... subtly horrible.

D00d, they're fucking Scani's, gimme a break.
Outbuilding would have been reasonable American English.

That's actually not bad cosplay of the younger sisters of the main character of a sort of alright anime.

Bad Idea: Donald Trump thinking that #AskTrump was a good idea to do on Twitter.
I think this girl sums it up best:
High points:

Unless you have kidney dysfunction or high blood pressure, why do you give a shit about how much sodium is in something?
-
I care because low sodium stuff usually tastes bad because it needs more salt to taste good.
-
I have tried to tell my in-laws that on more than one occasion. The food they make would be better if they used enough salt. Not good, but less rubbish.
-
I am beginning to think that people are not taking #AskTrump seriously....

What? On twitter? I looked at Trump's timeline, and it looks like they just ignored the obvious junk, which seems fine to me. I'm not sure what the big deal is.

Fair enough!
-
I care because low sodium stuff usually tastes bad because it needs more salt to taste good.
OTOH, I find some non-low-sodium stuff to have so much salt (because salt is cheaper than real flavor ingredients) that it is unpalatable.
Unless you have kidney dysfunction or high blood pressure
Maybe because you want to reduce the risk of those?

Unless you ingest stupid amounts of sodium, there is no risk of getting to disorders. That was debunked a long time ago.

The problem with twitter Q&As is that "Ask me anything #hashtag" actually means "Here's how to post things all my followers are going to read (or at least have to scroll past)".
-
Let's put it this way: It's a bad idea to take a naked picture of yourself in the US.
-
I am curious, given the boys age, why he wasn't charged with molesting himself, since that is obviously what happened.
-

Quite right. Ignoring Trump is definitely the way to go here.
In fact, I'd say ignoring all of the candidates is the real solution. If we don't bother holding elections, maybe they will just go away and the rest of us can just get on with things.
-
Given that it's South Carolina, I wouldn't put it past them...
-
>I am curious, given the boys age, why he wasn't charged with molesting himself, since that is obviously what happened.
Did you read the whole thing? modulo the article getting it wrong, he was: "prosecuted as an adult [...] for sexually exploiting a minor."
Ok, "molesting" isn't strictly speaking "exploiting" but depending what was on the pictures "molesting" might not have been relevant.
Also, anything else would probably have been seen as piling on, if I had to guess. Perhaps that was the limit of their sense of the absurd.
-
Let's put it this way: It's a bad idea to take a naked picture of yourself in the US.
While the pictures were technically illegal, actual sex would not be – the age of consent for sexual intercourse in North Carolina is 16.
So, he could legally have sex with his girlfriend, but not possess pictures of himself? Boy, I sure am glad they have solved every other crime in America so they can waste time on this shit.
-
Jesus dude, it's SC, give the rest of us a little bit of a chance :P

BAD IDEA?

I have tried to tell my in-laws that on more than one occasion. The food they make would be better if they used enough salt. Not good, but less rubbish.
I always thought this was the purpose of salt shakers. You prepare the food with a minimal amount of salt, and then the recipients can salt it to taste.
