It's screwed up, period, not just pagination. I use infiniscroll (), and links are just wrong. I clicked on an upvote notification, and instead of taking me to my post, it went to somebody else's post just above mine.
Edit: This time it took me to my own post, but the one two posts above the one the notification was actually for (based on who upvoted it).
-
@HardwareGeek the notification does go to the correct post, but NodeBB is refusing to acknowledge that the last two posts exist, so it won't highlight the post and scroll to it if it's one of the last two posts. Instead it just highlights and scrolls to the last post that it thinks exists.

Somebody please go hit in the with a clue .
What changed? It didn't used to do that.
-
@HardwareGeek somehow its post count is off by 2 in this thread. And whatever threw off the post count, happened fairly recently, because this thread didn't used to be glitched.
IIRC the bones thread is also glitched, but it's only off by 1.

The oil industry is not... exactly... known for its value judgement on human life.
Indeed. I was working on this site on the afternoon/evening while this gas leak was happening and first I knew of it was when I was unable to go back on site the next morning.
An explosion has killed three and injured 49 at Kuwait's largest oil refinery.
An oil official said the explosion happened at 0424 (0124 GMT) during attempts to try and control a gas leak in one of the pipelines.
Workers were evacuated soon after the explosion, but the evacuation siren continued to wail hours later.

Do we have a known good thread I can check on the staging forum?

@ben_lubar I'm pretty sure Pavlok's thread is good.
In the JSON for the request, when fetching the last page:
lastposttime
should be exactly the same asposts[].timestamp
of the last post (to verify that it really is the last post -- if these don't match, the thread's definitely broken)- if the post times match up,
postcount
should be 1 more than theposts[].index
of the last post
In the Pavlok thread,
postcount
is 17, andposts[].index
of the last post is 16, which is what it should be.In bad ideas,
postcount
is 11663, and theposts[].index
of the last post should be 11662, but actually it's 11664.

That looks similar to something we use at work, only ours holds SIM cards, not Micro SD cards. And the 20, not 10, slots are somewhat more sanely arranged.
-
@r10pez10 what's the bad idea here supposed to be? Are you about to put all the SD cards back in, in the wrong order, or something?
-
@anotherusername said in βπ THE BAD IDEAS THREAD:

Well, first off, the slots are uncomfortably tightly packed if you need to insert or remove one from the middle row. Second, the card attachment positioning seems to indicate that it would be possible to hot swap them, but doing that (especially for the middle or lower row) would probably mean touching the circuit board, which is bad idea if you dislike shocks or like working hardware.
-
@ScholRLEA given the SATA looking connector, I'd guess the idea is to use SD cards in place of an actual hard drive.

Ah, that makes... no, wait, that just makes it stupider. I was assuming that the idea was to make it possible to read the MicroSDs for mass copying, but having them permanently installed in lieu of a HDD or SSD? Why would that ever make sense? Even with several of them, the capacity would be much smaller than a laptop SSD, while the space and power usage would be about the same. I can only assume that there is an application for this (were the layout not so awful) but I am at a loss as to what it would be.

Someone got a boatload of MicroSDs really cheap? So designing this board was a "cost savings" measure...

@ScholRLEA @Arantor oh hey, I just noticed that @r10pez10 linked the picture to the actual product description page.
Hmm, I initially thought those slots could eject out, but it looks like they're soldered down flat. Yeah, I guess inserting the cards might be a bit tight, especially those two slots on the 3rd row.
It's a Micro SD to SATA adapter. It'll work with 1, 2, 4, 8, or 10 cards. The SATA interface is hot-swappable; the SD cards are not hot-swappable, and yes, it does warn against moving the cards around.

He got out of the truck and walked to the middle of the (100+ foot long) bridge. Then he jumped up and down on the bridge 3 or 4 times, then went back, climbed in the truck and drove across.
We always thought that was a phenomenally bad idea. But, hey, if it was good for a bridge, why not for glass bridge panes?time!
Flashback: Toronto, 1993. A lawyer is giving a tour to some law students, showing them around the swanky 24-th story office his firm occupies. As he often did, he joked about the indestructible windows-- going on about the tensile strength of the window. To demonstrate, as he often did, he threw himself against the window full force.
Now, I know what you're thinking. The window breaks, and he plunges to his death. Nope. The window didn't break.
The entire pane of glass popped out of the frame, and he fell 24 stories to his death.
