We call that "if you weren't upside down and thus had all your blood rushing to your head you'd know".

Bad idea: Stealing a fire truck
Worse idea: Engaging the siren and blue lights
Worst idea: Doing the whole thing on a small island.

Agreed. Never understood the biologically driven mentality that mandates a bigger=bigger/stronger/faster/better/harder desire...

It's a good thing we measure things in man-power, amirite?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Yeah. That's actually part of why I wouldn't want to be overly-endowed - it just has such a strong impact and (pardon the pun) overinflated significance.
TBH, part of it also that, well, most of the well-hung guys I've known were, appropriately enough, total pricks. Not all of them, but enough for it to be a pattern. They often seem to measure their self-worth in inches, and think exclusively with the small head instead of the larger one. I've mostly seen it in gay and bi men, mainly because that's where I've seen it myself (straight men get all guy code about that, unless they are outright bragging), but enough women have said the same thing that I doubt it is any less common for straight men, just less overt. There are many things like that, so no surprises there.
Also, size tends to be inversely proportional to sensation; roughly the same number of nerve endings are covering a larger area, after all. Worse, a really big member often has problems getting enough blood flow, so they often can't get it up all the way, which must be a really disappointing to a size queen who picks up some dude who's hung like a horse only to find that they can't get past half-mast.
Just to clarify, my fucked-up gender identity isn't a major factor in this; if I decide I want the Filet of Cod after all, the size isn't terribly relevant - yes, if it were really small, it could make it harder to craft a neo-vagina from it, but that's almost never a factor so I am not too concerned about that.
(Though Kate Borenstein does have a story in one of her books about that: in the time leading up to her operation, the doctor got concerned that she was shrinking too much due to the female hormones, and that it could affect the surgery. She replied that she had a female partner and wasn't looking to take any dicks, so it didn't have to be as deep as he was saying it should be.)

TBH I can't say I have the slightest idea how well hung the vast majority of the guys I know might be. Maybe the correlation you noticed was that the total pricks were more likely to brag about it.

Teacher sex scandal: California teacher’s aide accused of sex with 16-year-old boy - TomoNews – 01:02
Dammit. Those things never happened when I was a 16-year-old.
Filed under: neither did attractive teachers, though
-
I'm guessing that it was more that it was harder to catch back when a) school systems covered things like that up rather than going to the police (the, y often still do, but it has gotten more difficult) and b) you didn't have both teachers and students leaving piles of evidence on things like Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, and phone text mailboxes.
If you watch enough of these, you'll see that in the majority of cases, they got caught because they did something stupid on social media. However, the stories often give me the impression that it still would have happened without the web, but it might not have been discovered without it. If it is happening so often that they make wry jokes on Tomo about it becoming a daily feature, I doubt it suddenly sprang from Mark Zuckerberg's navel one day in 2008.
Also, the school admins are a lot more likely to report abuse these days, if only to CYA. With principals and superintendents getting fired or even jailed for failing to report this sort of thing to the police and CPS, coverups are looking a lot less appealing, though the scandal last year at the same high school I graduated from shows they still aren't uncommon.

@ScholRLEA I've seen people complaining the same about pretty girls.

Bad idea: pointing a shotgun at a cop serving a warrant.
http://hotair.com/archives/2016/08/02/korryn-gaines-shooting-outrage-or-stupidity/
The 23-year-old Korryn Gaines allegedly pointed a shotgun at officers and said: “If you don’t leave, I’m going to kill you.”
Dumber idea: trying to make someone this dumb out to be a martyr. From the same article:
" Another video of the encounter from Gaines, posted by Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King, also tends to show that the police wanted a peaceful outcome. Note that the muzzle of the weapon is pointed away from Gaines, and the officer is not making any aggressive movements"

@FrostCat Your mother getting shot to death while you're in her arms isn't the kind of trauma that a few sessions of therapy is going to fix.
-
@FrostCat said in 🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD:
Bad idea: pointing a shotgun at a cop serving a warrant.
Very bad, and this is a very likely outcome of such action.
The article doesn't make everything clear because how can it really but did the police not try non-lethal force first? Tear gas or taser? Still sucks to be the kid because on top of witnessing his mother's trauma he gets gassed as well, but maybe he'd still have a living mother. It also isn't clear if a flashbang was used, might have saved a life. The police certainly had plenty of time to think about all these things so maybe they did what they could.

It said nobody answered the door, so they got the landlord to open it, and found her sitting on the floor with a shotgun in her hands waiting for them.
Also, there was a 5yo so it was probably good they didn't try stuff like teargas.
Also also, there's no such thing as nonlethal force. There's only "more likely to be lethal" and "less likely to be lethal" force.
More seriously, generally you only would see them prepared with those kinds of things if they were expecting resistance. One officer got a key from the landlord and opened the apartment after no one responded to repeated knocks. The officer saw Gaines sitting on the floor, pointing the gun at him, police said. The officers retreated to the hallway, and a man ran from the apartment with a one-year-old boy

Is it bad for five year olds? I mean it's bad for anyone, is it likely to be damaging to the kid? I don't know any more about tear gas than that I don't want to ever encounter it, especially since I have asthma.
@FrostCat said in 🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD:

While what you say is true (and most people forget that things like tasers, rubber bullets and beanbags are often lethal), "non-lethal" is often used by laymen like me for short because it's usually contrasted with shooting metal projectiles at high speed at the torso which is nearly always lethal.
@FrostCat said in 🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD:

They had six hours to go rustle some up if they wanted to use them, so that's not really a factor.

So they're clearly not just going in with guns blazing, which I'm sure we can agree is a good thing.

So they went in, saw her with a shotgun pointing at the door, for some unfathomable reason didn't blast her to paste outright, negotiated for six hours, and then... what? Figured "hey, it's almost dinnertime, let's shoot the bitch", or did she decide she's had enough waiting?

@Tsaukpaetra Let's consider the possibilities:
a) It was a joke.
b) Tsaukpaetra meant centimeters, not millimeters.
c) Tsaukpaetra isa womanphysically female and was measuring hir clitoris.I'm going with a, though come to think of it, I don't recall if Tsaukpaetra's sex and gender ever came up before. The subject of it, I mean. No giggity.

@Boner They actually BUILT that boondoggle!? Idiots.
I remember seeing concept images of it like 5-6 years ago, when everybody said, "that's a stupid idea." A normal elevated light rail system would have been like a third the price.
EDIT: the article says it's 2m high? How is that even close to possibly true? God damned journalists are awful. Maybe they mean it has 2m of clearance.
"I saw images of this not long ago and now it's actually happening?" asked one user. "This is truly build at 'Chinese speed'".
Great. Now watch as a lightning strike takes out the computerized switching box and derails the thing at high speed killing dozens of passengers, like happened with China's bullet train. Which was also built at "Chinese speed".
-
2m-high
72ft (21m) long and 25ft wide body
trial run was conducted on a 300m-long controlled track
expected to reach speeds of up to 60km per hour
Ah, I see they use the Mostly Metric Occasionally US Customary with Optional Conversion with Dubious Rounding to Metric Measurement System.
Btw, 2m is the clearance below it (@blakeyrat); or it wouldn't be that elevated. Its height is 4.8m according to another web site; although this video mentions both 4.8m and 4.5m.

Given how long these standoffs have been happening they had a lot longer than that.
Maybe the zoo darts aren't FDA-approved for human use.

Tranquilizers don't work like they do on TV. While they're kicking in, they can cause excitability and irritability, sometimes even hysteria. The effect, required dosage, and time to effect can vary quite a bit too. That's a terrible combination if someone's pointing a gun at you.
(Fun anecdote: I am fairly resistant to Propofol and metabolize it very quickly. Many people are an incoherent slobbering messes while coming out and take hours to fully recover. I was perfectly normal before the surgery even ended, apart from my memory of the procedure being a bit murky.)

The vehicle is expected to reach speeds of up to 60km per hour, running on rails laid along ordinary roads. Up to four TEBs can be linked together.
Hmm. Sounds more like a train to me...
