No, they're awesome. If you don't want any, though, I'll have yours. I'll eat olive them!
I think I'm going to make a pineapple, olive, and mushroom pizza, and I'll even use a mayo-based sauce with cilantro in it, just for @Karla.
what kind of olive?
Pimento? Kalamata? black?
What about those giant green olives with whole cloves of garlic stuffed inside?
......... MAKE THAT PIZZA!
SHARE SOME WITH ME!

@Vixen I was going to say that I'd call it the worst pizza, but then I realized that I was forgetting liverwurst.
(If I'm being honest, now, I don't really think it would go with the flavor profile. Maybe it'd work with sauerkraut and anchovies...)

Ok, so I've got two basic ideas going.
pizza 1:
- pineapple
- mushrooms
- garlic-stuffed green olives
- mayo based sauce with cilantro
- drizzle of yellow mustard
pizza 2:
- anchovies
- liverwurst
- sauerkraut
- tomato based sauce with italian herbs
- raw onion pickled in red wine vinegar
I might have to do another post in the cooking thread soon.

Are you going to lay out the ingredients to depict a judo chop?

Judo chop was left as an exercise for the reader.

@boomzilla The internet tells me that, as of yesterday, regular gas could be bought in Austin for as little as $1.99/gallon. I don't know what the going rate is for professionals who provide the sort of service he's looking for, but $30 seems awfully cheap.

shit...... that's way cheaper than you can get here......
but that's way too far to drive for the discount.

Sigh. I just filled up at USD3.45/gal (the closest cheap place). Thx, CA!
edit: Because of @TimeBandit's post. Stupid country codes!

It's the same price here ($1.20 CAD / liter)
CA is the country abbreviation for Canada, so that works out

Yeah, the price drops remarkably just by crossing the river into AZ. It's even lower in TX.
When I left, friends gave me some prepaid gas cards as a going away gift. They were enough to fill my gas tank. If I'd saved them until I got here, I'd have gotten 1.5 tanks of gas from them.

...It depends on whether you use the "alpha-2" or "alpha-3" notation defined in ISO 3166-1:
California on the other hand is written as US-CA under ISO 3166-2.

bit of fabricobbling too.... but yeah that looks like the sort of project they might have found fun.... :-)
-
As shown in the photos the Ontario police posted to Facebook, the driver had attached the trailer via a pin to the hitch, leading one Facebook commenter to lament, "As danger as that is. [sic] I'm partially impressed with the fact that pin was able to handle the stress of accelerating and braking."
Having grown up on a farm, towing trains of several fully loaded trailers behind tractors a d pickups, the pin handling the stress isn't terribly surprising. Those things can take a fair bit of punishment, and if you don't drive like an idjit, the stress on the pin isn't that great. I'd be more worried about stopping or turning at speed tbh.
The fabricobbling looks a bit rough, but it's workable I guess. Could have been a lot nicer with a welder and minor effort... But when all you have is an angle grinder I guess.

Which one. there's..... eleven.... eleven of them (i think) some of them are good, others are bad, and a few are horrifying abominations.... so you're going to have to specify which movie or group of movies you mean.....

Will have to disagree. It's remarkably true to the musical, is delightfully well done, and very self aware of what it is. It's not your traditional movie, but then neither was the musical it's based on nor the poems the musical is based on, so that's not surprising. Neither is it surprising that it's reviewing poorly from movie critics that do not know the source material and assume the movie is trying to be something other than it is.

The latest one (in other words, the one that was actually playing concurrently with Cats). It's barely edging out Episodes I & II in the IMDB ratings.

Yeah sure, but you're, like, a furry. I think that makes you a little biased.

I had heard that furries found the CGI cats just as off-putting as everyone else did
-
@hungrier What, like some weird furry version of the Uncanny Valley? I could see that possibly happening.
-
But also, based on what I've heard about Cats the musical, the movie being a faithful reproduction of a truckload of crap still makes it a truckload of crap
-
@brie said in THE BAD IDEAS THREAD:
The latest one. I
I thought Episoide I was actually pretty good if you ignore the bit about the midichlorians and subscribe to the Darth Jar Jar theory. The movie sets things up great for a good Darth Jar Jar villian. There's little details all over that movie that support the theory in tiny ways.
I almost feel bad that they abandoned that plan and created Count Dooku to fill the role instead due to the fan hate of JarJar.... Episoides 2 and 3 could have been so much better with a Darth JarJar.
and even if they didn't have the backbone to stick to the plan for episodes 2 and 3, they could have at least brought the theory into cannon and made Snoke if not Jar Jar himself then at least a gungan. That would have redeemed the franchise a lot....

One major difference between physical keyboards and touchscreen virtual ones is that the latter doesn't have tactile feedback. For the most part, this is regarded as a negative, and hardware and software makers have tried various methods to make up for this deficiency.
Samsung has taken a bold, unprecedented new stance: What if
instead ofin addition to having no tactile feedback, you could also remove the visual component of typing on a keyboard?

Nah, the (live) musical is campy but it it doesn't aspire to anything more than what it is. I mean, Cirque de Soleil performances also don't have much of a story usually - yeah, there might be one but it's usually not why you go there.
