Yeah, like a meaningless .
at this point it's not the badge i'm upset about, and you know it.

Don't start that shit again; remember you admitted to me you shirk your responsibilities as a moderator and grant badges whether they're appropriate or not
-
Oh yes the badge argument is back. I LOVE IT.

And you can fuck off too.

I'm glad someone likes the "bade argument" because i fucking don't.

OFF T... Eh, it's just @blakeyrat

Only because you can't be fucking arsed to do your job. Another fact you've admitted to me.

Oh, you mean when I explained that the staff can't be in on or aware of every joke so sometimes we rely on the flags to determine when to award badges? That's perfectly cromulent, so calm your tits.
I'm not doing this again, so don't expect further explaination.
BAD @ABARKER! BAD!
Follow your own damn rules. And do you honestly expect blakeyrat to follow your arbitrary rules?

Of course I'm not talking about that you fuckwit. I'm talking about the fact that you admitted to me directly that you are fed up with dealing with the shit that certain members spread around everywhere they can lay their filthy paws, so you ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist. Then you get all pissy when other people who are fed up of it want something done about it.
Basically, the entire moderation team are fucking cowards.
Want to prove me wrong? Go ahead. But be advised: I'm not holding my breath.
-
I'd forget about that for a while, at least until @abarker has stopped shitting all over the thread
-
humourless morons
I resend that! I' m a moron with humor. Are you moronophobic or something?
-
I' m a moron with humor.
Y'know, normally I'd correct you. But not this time, otherwise @abarker will give me another fucking whoosh badge.
-
Of course I'm not talking about that
Well, I'm not psychic.
I'm talking about the fact that you admitted to me directly that you are fed up with dealing with the shit that certain members spread around everywhere they can lay their filthy paws, so you ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist
No, I never said I ignore it. Most recently I said that you have no idea what the staff deal with and you said you know what you think should be done. Never mind that if I were the type of mod to follow your advice, I'd at least suspend you for all the verbal abuse you're throwing my way now.
Want to prove me wrong?
Moderating by challenge ain't my style, so "maybe" is the best you're getting.
Obligatory picture:
-
I'd at least suspend you for all the verbal abuse you're throwing my way now.
Like you'd suspend Blakey for all the verbal abuse he hurls at me and Cali?Face it: if you suspend me, you prove me right that there's double-standards.
Don't suspend me, and you prove me right the mods have no teeth.Catch-22.
-
Face it: if you suspend me, you prove me right that there's double-standards.Don't suspend me, and you prove me right the mods have no teeth.
No, if I don't suspend you, it just proves we don't moderate the way you want.
-
Could you all just please GROW THE FUCK UP?
-
Missed the above post initially, sorry!
-
The so-called 'abuse' I've given you is nothing compared to the shit I've had to put up with for over a year now, yet you're threatening to suspend me over it. Yet when Blakey shows up and lays down callous, baseless, and extremely offensive insults, the response from the staff is
@abarker said:Eh, it's just @blakeyrat
So yes, if you suspend me, it will prove my fucking point that there is a fucking horrific double fucking standard.Don't like it? Shove it up your arse.
-
Like you'd suspend Blakey for all the verbal abuse he hurls at me and Cali?
Yeah because that's all one way.
What I wanted to say has been covered, so:
@aliceif said:Could you all just please GROW THE FUCK UP

Dear @RaceProUK,
Please- Grow up and stop being immature
- Stop acting like an abusive asshole when angered
- At least stop antagonizing blakeyrat
- And maybe leave this community if you can't do the above
-
And you can fuck off too.

what's a whoosh?

what's a whoosh?
Serious or trolling?
If serious, it's not getting a joke. As in it went over your head so fast it made a whooshing noise. And/or refering to the badge you get for that.

mods have no teeth
This means that they suck more
especially if they want to get anywhere with ingestion and mastication
'Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.' Daphne du Maurier's famous opening line of Rebecca - one of the most memorable first sentences ever published - appears to beckon the reader through a padlocked iron gate and down a long, serpentine drive to a hidden mansion, a house of secrets and dreams...
Picardie, Justine ,"The real ghost of Manderley", The Telegraph, Monday 12 October 2015, Web, 12/10/2015, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/donotmigrate/3671423/The-real-ghost-of-Manderley.html
It's a small stretch; but replace "Manderlay" with Discourse....

Am I only one who's annoyed by all the unfunny flaming on this forum lately? I mean, I love to watch a flamewar, but having to watch people attack each other on a personal level (and being serious about it) makes me angry as well. The line between trolling and targeted abuse has been crossed a long time ago and I really don't like that.
-
As far as I can see, it breaks one of the cardinal rules of the forum.
-
Is there a version with 'Murican subtitles? I don't care what anyone says, that gibberish is not english.
-
I agree. I can't believe I'm actually suggesting that, but maybe just starting to delete shit-flinging posts of the relevant parties might be the best course of action for the mods at this point.
-
I would like to say: For a super duper, ultramodern (?), do
fuck
all forum; there would seem to be some features lacking. But if I did, somebody will only ask me to list them. Truth is, I couldn't. There I times I wish I could do X or Y but CBA to do anything about it at the time. Not because of my expectations of what forum software should be, but because Discourse offers so much (ignoring the issues and s) but does not go anywhere near far enough in limiting or censoring the unrestricted aspects of it.
The only recourse you have, as the ultimate defence strategy, is to mute a Member or Flag a post. All muting a Member does is prevent "you" receiving Notifications directed at "you" that are generated by that Member. It does not stop them continuing to post "about you". If anything it makes it worse because you are no longer aware of what is being posted by them.
I have no idea what happens when you Flag a post (INB4: Yes, I know. So many flags and an Admin is notified), because I have yet to do that. Besides it would seem to be as pointless as muting.
However, a much vaunted idea is that of dislikes: Which seems to always cause "bike shedding" about trying to get the "like" functionality to do more than it should.
The solution is simple: Have a dislike button. If a post gets so many from the community, or specific ones from any @mentions then the Poster gets a warning. After X warnings they get a Temporary Ban of increasing length up to a Perm Ban, for which they have to appeal to an Admin. Or they can get Privileges / Badge removal - whatever motivates Members to be Members.

Not necessarily (making it worse, that is.)
Phase I is muting one or a few personal attackers.
Phase II is leaving the community completely.
Enough positive contributors leave the community, it falls apart.
The other side of the coin is if you're being too sensitive and leave the community way before it's warranted(1). People don't get the chance to know you well, never mind miss you and ask what happened(2). We're going to see some of that regardless.
(1) This point is difficult to define. I have determined it to be a personal threshold one recognizes as being crossed after a certain point, and act accordingly. It may not be "the right point" with regard to the community in that no one else agrees, but it's right for you.
(2) That reminds me: anyone ever find out what happened to @faoileag?

At surface glance, pedantry would probably be the cause of 1. I mean there are pedantic dick-hawks waiting for any and all chances to correct some minor error. But that's just a part of this community. So one can either play it up or just ignore it. I find ignoring it to be effective personally, even in cases where I am clearly wrong but don't want to admit it. (Fuck file systems. You are all the worst. Not the worst of the worst, that's reserved for MikeTheLiar).

Curious about this one also. If anyone answers, can I get an @-mention please?

This is a bad idea.
Many people will get auto-banned just for disagreeing then.
-
I forgot to mention in my initial Post that this is likely to be as abused as any other feature.
Your bike shedding :) If somebody makes a post and 50 Members dislike it, then the Poster should be censored. If somebody was so stupid as to require only a couple of "dislikes" before any warning is issued, then that's just being fucking moronic.
No auto ban is proposed, except for persistent offenders.
-
Enough positive contributors leave the community, it falls apart.
We hate each others guts and have no intention of trying to reconcile our differences, so we will just keep slagging each other off etc. We won't divorce for the sake of the children.
:)
-
It is a good idea, only if dislikes from blakey count as likes

also, any sufficient mature community it's almost auto-regulated. i mean, come on people, we're all adults fix your differences with a Quake 3 match
