The F you say? Ain't nobody on because ain't nobody can authenticate! Gazooks today is not turning out so good right now!

@Tsaukpaetra
I think it's more of a general "order in which things start up on reboot" problem. Network detection seems to fire before ADDS is fully started, and there's no mechanism for an automatic redetect short of re-initializing the network adapter. Of course, the problem is minimal in a "Microsoft recommended best practices" environment, where you have at least 2 separate, physical DCs. But ain't nobody gottimebudget for dat!

Yeah. I'm seriously considering making the Amazon EC2 instance a member controller. Something tells me this is a bad idea though.
Anyways, fixed, and now I can get into the real purpose of why I was trying to connect to the domain in the first place: FTP from home to a different website.
It turns out the password I was given was only valid for an hour and so the account is now disabled.

@Tsaukpaetra We had trouble with our local Server Essentials DC a few months ago, and I did exactly that- a VPC in Amazon with a domain controller and a VPN link to/from the office. It's worked fabulously so far.

Hmm. So a vote in favor then.
Which reminds me, I need to update the Client cert on that thing before it expires next week...

Status: So here I am, listening to HammerFall and trying to connect to my StarMade server, but StarMade freezes at the login screen and Windows Media Player completely locked up, killing my music. So I check Task Manager and see this:
Thank you, Windows 10, for scheduling an uninterruptible malware scan that consumes 100% of my disk I/O when I'm trying to kill alien pirates while listening to Swedish heavy metal! I really wanted to spend my evening listening to stuttering music while you scan.

@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:
Status: Well, I wonder what would have happened if they said we could use Base36 digits?
Would not mean remotely close to the same thing.
It says the password must contain some digits from the range
A-Z
AND from the rangea-z
AND from the range0-9
."Base-36 digits" would mean that you can use any digits from the set
0-9A-Za-z
, but it would not imply that you're required to use characters from all 3 ranges, like the screenshot did. That said, they could've just stricken out "Base 10". It supplies no extra information and will undoubtedly be confusing to idiots.

Where are you from that you have a 13 letter alphabet?

By your logic that would be a six-character alphabet.

That was my point, but here's the ever so prestigious !
-
@ben_lubar "base-36" suggests to you that you can only use lowercase?
inb4 "NO! UPPERCASE RULEZ!"
-
@anotherusername at the very least, it would mean the passwords are case insensitive.
-
@ben_lubar
So, DiscoPasswords.

You're allowed to use characters from the base-36 character set !== your password is a base-36 number. It could mean that... but it'd be .

Do you have frequently used program that uses Ctrl-W shortcut? (Say, to post messages in BBS) If so you'll hate IE too.
Hate the program that uses Ctrl+W for something other than what it should mean: close tab.
I mean, there's plenty to hate IE for, but that's not part of it.
@sloosecannon said in The Official Status Thread:
I use ctrl-f4 normally for everything (it makes sense to me, since Alt-f4 is close application)
Ctrl+W is easier to reach than Ctrl+F4.
FYI, BBS exist like 10 years before IE even exist, let alone tabs.
These authors really need a time machine to go back and change that, as users generally don't like the key combinations they're using be changed.

Well I have no problems navigating the VM, but I can't find where the site files are.
Unless I've been given access to an empty VM? Dunno, my contact is semi-hostile toward me for raisins.
And all I need to do is add a few

Actually, there should be a mangement panel page that allow you to configure where the files are placed.

That's problematic, as I don't own the account and my user directory looks like this:

So it sounds like a user login issue, probably.
Thing is, since this is a personal DreamHost account, for obvious reasons she doesn't want to share her password with me, and it looks like that's probably the only way to get in to the right place to do things.

Maybe you can tell her to login the web panel and open a TeamViewer session for you to set things up, or maybe you can just
throwemail the zipped web content to her and let her fix this thing herself at time of her convenience.

STATUS: Well that's a new and unique hardware bug.
Fact 1: 2010 honda oddesseys detect open doors va a button that gets pressed in when the door is shut.
Fact 2: The car alarm goes off if state changes from "Closed" to "Opened" while the vehicle is locked.
Fact 3: In normal operation, seatbelts may get jammed in the door. In extreme cases, this may lead to minor damage, such as dents on the inside of the doorframe.
So guess what happens when one of those dents just happens to be strategically placed right where the pushbutton thing rests.
If you guessed "Car alarm triggers randomly", you win!
-
@sloosecannon this bug was fixed with a strategic placement of tape (mounting, not duct, unfortunately, since thickness matters here) right over the dent.

Candidate: I can have the CV ready after the weekend. It's Tuesday morning.

-
@sloosecannon I had the opposite problem on my first car. There was so much grime that the button never popped out so the car never thought the door was open. This had the result of the interior lights never coming on when I opened the door, and no alarm when I got out with the lights left on. I had to jump start it a couple of times when it started happening

Status: Just about every gas station around me is completely out of gas. Yesterday afternoon, the gas station near my work was out of everything but premium (and diesel). Instead of gouging the customers who were lining up to buy what they could, they lowered the price of premium down to the price of regular, which I thought was a nice gesture.
