Politics category

It seems that we have a 'few' politics threads going on right now.
Might I suggest a politics category where we can Jeff the threads to and then be able to ignore the entire category for those of us who don't habitually wear flame retardant chemicals?
-
By politics you mean massive flamewars because people are incapable of seeing anyone else's point of view, yes?
-
@Jaloopa not entirely.
There is a huge overlap between politics and irreconcilable viewpoints but there are politics threads lately that aren't entirely flaming (I assume, haven't looked beyond title) and, frankly, I just don't care. If they were all in the one place I could ignore them all at once...
I suppose it could have a fire icon...
-
@Jaloopa I see everyone's point of view.
It's just that their point of view is immutably attached to a non-sequitur solution.

:fa_Drumpf: fan?! You should be ashamed and are literally responsible for the inevitable nuclear war if his tiny hands get on the launch code.
-
@dse How would I be responsible? I'm British and therefore not eligible to vote between the criminal or the buffoon.
And thank you fir demonstrating why I feel this category is necessary
-
@Arantor said in Politics category:

Because you voted for the latest "not them" successor.
Never mind that every President since Carter has been involved in these "wars".

Like, literally immutable or just immutable immutable? Asking for a friend.
-
@boomzilla Seemingly liberally immutable.

Can we have a thread reserved for how stupid Northern Irish politicians are?
Hey, you guys have some UK threads. There's nothing for Polish politics, though that might be for the better.

There was definitely one thread.
-
Would be interesting informational.
I can never predict what your opinion will be...
I am curious if I were to say the same thing in two different threads, if you'd upvote in one and refute in the other.
-
Someone mentioned politics, time for @xaade to spout unintelligible gibberish!

@Maciejasjmj said in Politics category:
Polish politics
Can't you lump it in the Brexit thread while you do the plumbing?
-
Or just have a general section, since it's not only politics that gets heated
-
@xaade please explain to me how I could be responsible for the results of a vote I am not, and have never been, eligible to vote in.
I'm not American. I don't live in America. How the fuck could I vote for the American president?
-
I most always understand and agree when people point out something is wrong.
I do not agree that they have the right solution given the problem.
I'm not sure why that is so hard to understand.

It's all because your ancestors lost a war against our ancestors.

Does "seeing" someone's point of view automatically lead to agreement?

Of course it does. We both see that there is a problem with racism so lets euthanize the poor.

Mickey Mouse voted for Obama.
So... I'm sure there's a way we can make that happen.

No but it's less likely to lead to ad hominem attacks going in circles, and people arguing with what they think people said rather than what they did say
-
@Jaloopa Doubtful. But you can do a better job of making fun of something if you understand it.
-
Ok so as this thread demonstrates, a section of the forum where stuff can be quarantined would be great. Like SA's D&D.
-
@bb36e OK, but it needs a good name. "Politics" is both too small and it's boring. Swamp? Dumpster Fire? Nickelback?
-
-
@boomzilla What about Dumpster Fire in a Swamp with Nickelback?

- You are not eligible to vote; therefore, you did not vote.
- You did not vote; therefore, you did not vote for the "right" candidate.
- You did not vote for the "right" candidate; therefore you are responsible for the "wrong" candidate being elected.

I'd watch an episode of that.

Next time, on DUMPSTERFIREINASWAMPWITHNICKELBACK, Anna and James will face their greatest challenge yet — 5 Glad Drawstring Stronger with Less Plastic trash bags filled with "Rockstar" single cuts; two soggy matches; and a LIFE OR DEATH trek across 500 kilometers of Amazon jungle swamp.
Will they survive?
Will they return?
But more importantly, will we have a dumpster fire, in a swamp, with some bad to honest Nickelback.

I considered mentioning that ineligibility does not necessarily preclude one from actually doing so. After all, dead people are generally ineligible to vote, but dead Chicagoans have continued doing their civic duty for decades. :)

Very easily! Immigrate here (illegally of course) and vote for the criminal, that would be business as usual! Buffoons are elected only once in a blue moon, but soon leave with cloudy mushroom that reaches to the moon.
And thank you fir demonstrating why I feel this category is necessary
You are welcome

This gets the Arantor Seal of Approval for naming. It's a highly coveted, rarely issued honour!
-
I'd be ok if we could just have one for USAliens TBQH, because no one but them can understand he shut they are spouting. Europeans at least have some sense, resident Asians are all commies so they're not allowed to discuss it, and Southern America folks are too hot to flame anyway.
Hey, this post gave me an idea for the name - how about "trolleybus garage"?

I initially read that as "where staff can be quarantined" which immediately struck me as an excellent idea.

That depends. Is Nickelback in the fire or just playing background music?

But also in the background.
