Jason Bourne
The CIA can detect someone is hacking them. But they have to manually type all counter-measures. IDS, wats that?
fake edit nevermind, the HACKER has an IDS, which detects a trace and disconnects.
If that's the case, CIA, guys-- I think I know why you're getting bested on the cyberhacking thing.
The hackers have all the best tools dontcha know.
I just saw the movie last night. The hacker only had an IDS and in fact didn't even disconnect after the trace was detected. Meanwhile the CIA's hacking powers are such that bypassing multiple firewalls is as easy as watching 3 consecutive progress bars and remotely deleting files from a hacker's computer (while those files are open and in use, even) can be done in 3 minutes by pivoting through the hacker's phone.

Yeah, that. Because hackers totally don't lock down their phones AT ALL.
Also, apparently when you spend years trying to find proof of your past an incriminating documents-- and finally come across them-- apparently in the Bourne universe, the first thing you do ISN'T make dozens of copies on different USB drives. Or print them.
It's not like they were important anyways.
Also, this always gets me.
Bourne: "I don't like being a killer"
{proceeds to have a high-speed chase through downtown Las Vegas, smashing through traffic left, right and center, where surely HUNDREDS of people got maimed and/or killed}

When your dependencies have dependencies...
Also, if you don't have a symbol server, it tends to get them from MS, which isn't fast at all...

@Tsaukpaetra Yeah, that was a result of my RFC thread where I pointed out the network issues and how they can be difficult to diagnose for end users.

Low budget effects, so-so acting and annoying main character aside, it's a great mind-bending suspense/thriller. Don't read anything else about it, especially don't watch the trailer. Just watch the movie. Recommended.

I see it every time my I unlock my phone or my desktop wakes up from not being used for a few minutes. I really don't need to see that when there isn't really a problem.

Well avoiding being redantic, maybe a short "grace timeout" should be employed for the first re-connection attempt that doesn't show the bubble?

Power saving features don't really apply to a VM. It's not like turning off the virtual Ethernet adapter and keyboard will really improve power savings...

I don't think I've ever obtained a hard drive (or CDROM drive for that matter) that identifies as "VBOX HARDDISK"
Edit: And I doubt Windows can't detect it's virtualized, if this program can:

@Weng I once presided over a handfasting with the following ceremony, which was performed in the grove behind the Campanile on the UC Berkeley campus:
Tanya and Peter's Wedding Vows
Speaker Schol-R-LEA: My fellow lunatics, we are gathered here tonight for the handfasting of Tanya T--- and Peter W---. Traditionally this would mean that they would spent the next year and a day handcuffed to each other and eating no solid food, but the two have wisely chosen to simply use it to make their relationship unofficially official. This is the untraditional Discordian ceremony. The chaos of the ceremony reflects the chaos of married life to come.
Let us begin by introducing the victims. Let the groom step forward. [cue groom's march - The Imperial March was Peter's choice, but the stereo was on the fritz]
Well, quite a piece of work, isn't he? OK, Let the Bride step forward. [cue bride's march]
Very lovely young woman, yes indeed. [pause]
Wait a minute! Your a woman?
Tanya : Yes.
Schol-R: And your a man?
Peter : Of course.
Schol-R : That's simply...I'm appalled, folks. This is clearly a symptom of the decay of our society. Oh, well, I suppose we have to be progressive about these things.
At this point, it is traditional to include a sermon on the subject of love, and caring, and how they make us do stupid things like this. However, because I was too lazy to write one, I shall instead play this inspirational substitute sermon :
[cue substitute sermon - offhand, I don't remember what we sang, but oh well. I think it was "Sit on My Face and Tell Me That You Love Me", but I'm not sure.]
Well, that certainly summed up what we're here for.
I can see that the lovely couple is for some reason rather impatient to get on with things, so I'll skip straight to the section know, appropriately enough, as the commitment.
Brethren and cistern [pause for everyone to get joke], is there anyone prepared to stop these two from making a terrible mistake?
[if anyone raises their hand, say] Well, no one does, so lets continue.
[if no one does] No one? Well, its seems the two of you are outta luck.
Tanya, do you swear that you are a human being, and not a cabbage or something?
T: I'm afraid so.
S:Too bad. Peter, are you a human being, and not a cabbage?
P: Sadly, I am.
S: My condolences.
[lift wine bottle] In this world where anything that can go wrong, will, only in sharing can we bear the Pain of the World. [opens bottle and passes to T]
T: [accepts bottle] Pain shared is pain lessened. We will share the pain to come [drinks, passes bottle to P]
S: In this world where all hands are raised against each other, only togetherness can bring joy.
P: [accepts bottle] Joy shared is joy increased. We shall share the joy to come. [drinks]
S: [accepts bottle, drains it] Peter, do you promise to love Tanya for the rest of your life?
P: I do.
S: Tanya, do you promise to love Peter for the rest of his life?
T: I do.
S: In the name of Eris and the Prophet Murphy, by the power invested in by the state of intoxication, I pronounce you mistress and slave. You may kiss each other in some place which won't lead to you being arrested for public licentiousness.
[cue exit march]

STATUS My boss from a previous life reached out over the weekend for a job they're offering soon. Basically my old job but with an official title and more money so I passed my current cv on for shits and giggles. They arranged a phone interview for tomorrow evening.
I put a body of water between us for a reason!
In other news my current html/node abomination was haunting me over the weekend. I'm actually happy to be back in office working on it. I think I've developed a defect last week.

I see it flickering all the time on mobile. The browser probably drops the connection while in the background due to Android's generally aggressive preempting, and when it's brought back, NodeBB wakes up and goes "OMG NO CONNE-oh wait there it is".

Contrary to popular belief, having a neckbeard is not required to do FOSS development. Those of us who know what a razor is and why it should be used can do so too. ;)
