My Canadian contacts have gone silent. Does Canada still exist?
-
Waiting for stand up meeting that has happened every day at the same time since forever.
All of us remote guys are holding onto whatever people hold onto when waiting.
-
I saw @Lorne_Kates earlier so all might not be lost.
-
According to this map, Canada still existed at least to such an extent that there was recorded weather there as of 6 AM UTC.
-
I have it on authoritah that Canada isn't a real country anyway.
-
It exists to provide a between the north of the USA and all the ice and snow
-
I'm afraid that most of Canada spent the weekend trying to figure out how "30 cm of snow" translates into "Snowmegerddon" or whatever it is that the USA has been wetting itself over.
Where I come from, we call that kind of weather "Autumn".
-
authoritah
You still @accalia'd that. It should be authoritEH.
Also, never really existed in the first place. We're a shared delusion of the Island of Alaska.
-
so, you are an alt personality of who?
-
Boomzilla, obviously, since he's not a Blakeyalt.

Respect @RaceProUK's authoritah!

30 inches, not cm. That's 76cm or so.

Apparently a meter of snow is Autumn.
You open your car door and snow falls in....
This is a problem for areas that aren't use to that amount.
Mark up another benefit of working from home.
-
Doesn't mean we can't laugh at people who aren't used to it.
-
You open your car door and snow falls in....
If only there was a tool for shifting snow…
-
-
You might need more than that if it's a metre deep...
-
Probably a remote US weather station. The land might still exist, but the country could be gone.
-
whatever it is that the USA has been wetting itself over.
The hilarious thing is there's no reason for anyone in the Northeast US not to know how to deal with that. DC barely has an excuse.
-
That was my point, yes. It still exists at least enough to be certain that it hasn't been annihilated by some calamity. Beyond that, who knows?
-
"It" is Canada. It's a political construct. Just knowing that the land the weather station stands on hasn't disappeared doesn't mean Canada exists. For all we know, they split into 5 successor nations and are now having a very polite civil war, and the only reason we haven't heard anything about it is:
- Canadians don't have any weapons powerful enough to be heard over the border and
- It's just Canada, who cares?
-
very polite civil war
-
Or, in other words, we can be certain it hasn't been annihilated by some calamity, but, beyond that, nothing is certain.
-
If you say so, Mr Heisenfox
-
-
Or, in other words, we can be certain it hasn't been annihilated by some calamity, but, beyond that, nothing is certain.
That could not be LESS like what I typed.
-
That could not be LESS like what I typed.
You and everyone else here knows that is not true.
-
Seems to me he says that.
- Weather station still exist != Canada exist.
- Canada could no longer exist for any reason, including a civil war that we won't notice because of politeness or weak Canadian weapons.
Not sure how that says,
Canada was not destroyed by a natural disaster but who knows what has happened. It sounds more like.
A weather station exists does not say Canada exists, it could be falling apart for any reason (not excluding natural disaster).
-
Seems to me he says
I was more referring to the point that it could not be LESS like what he typed. The conclusion could be oh so much farther removed from the original position.
-
I was more referring to the point that it could not be LESS like what he typed
Seems like that will never be true.
"It" is Canada.
Or, In other words, we can be certain that ham is a predecessor to an alien species that comes from Uranus (because they think it's funny. They never mature to adulthood) and that stars blink in irregular patterns that coincide with your brain patterns on a thursday.
-
Seems like that will never be true.
Now you're getting it! Put another one in the penny jar of jokes that fell through a hole and never came out....
stars blink in irregular patterns that coincide with your brain patterns on a thursday.
Well, it's actually on Mondays before I wake up fully, but... wait, are you spying on me?!
-
-
you just post too much on Facebook.
OOC: That would be a scary statement to make if it were true. I post ~1/270 days, so if that's too much....
-

Wow, whoever made that image really hated Jon Pertwee, didn't he? I mean there's a million dignified photos of the guy. Everybody else gets a dignified photo.
EDIT: oh laziness. He picked the first photo in Google Image Search you could use the magic wand tool to get rid of the background. LAZZZZZY.
-
Wouldn't be too hard to take the tone out of that one.
But it chopped off his hair.
This one has the work done for you already.
But I'd argue the Matt Smith picture isn't the best either.
-
Where's John Hurt?
Or for that matter, Peter Cushing?
-
Peter Cushing was the BEST.
-
Forget Canada. How many countries have you been taught that existed, and how many have you actually seen or met people from?
There you have it! The majority of countries have never existed at all. Turkmenistan, Burkina Faso, Kyrgyzstan, all lies! Wake up sheeple!
-
I know for a fact that France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United States exist, as I've been to all of them
Oh, and the Isle of Man. Yes, it's an independent country.
-
Weather station still exist

Are you sure you weren't just in a really big warehouse surrounded by actors putting on various accents and mouthing gibberish when they were talking "foreign"?
Edit: I can confirm that one part of Canada still exists, since I'm in it. Unless I've been moved to the aforesaid warehouse without my knowledge...
-

Do you know that they still exist?

I'm pretty sure my sweet can confirm the US still exists…
Fucking Discourse…
-
I'm pretty sure my sweet can confirm the US still exists…
I'm not your sweet, and I can't really confirm with 100% certainty that the US, per se, as a geopolitical entity still exists (although I have no reason to believe otherwise). However, I can confirm that the land, buildings, trees and people comprising what has until recently been, and I believe continues to be, the minute portion of US that I can see from my living room window visually and aurally appears to still exist.
-
I'm pretty sure my sweet can confirm the US still exists…
I'll confirm that i am currently in a place that appears to be the northern united states.... although given the current temperature one could be forgiven for thinking Canada moved south for the winter.

To be fair, that's what "in other words" has come to mean around these parts.
-
I guess people usually assume, "in other words" to expand to, "in other words that convey the same meaning" instead of "in other words, because these different words communicate an entirely new thought."
-
guys it was bright before and now it's dark and i can barely see anything outside
i'm really scared now that canada really isn't existing anymore =(
