Hah, we've got Blakey and @Tsaukpaetra. Now I'm only waiting for @Maciejasjmj, @mott555, @ben_lubar and @Lorne_Kates to doxx themselves!
-
I would have thought you just used 'Ben', but I guess that would clash with the names of other family members?
-
Actually, the account is named Owner but it's tied to my Microsoft account so it shows up as "Ben Lubar".
-
used by three people and their moose
you left me wondering here ... is Lorne one of the three people or the moose?

Apparently, C++ closures can hold onto several pointers, but not a single mutable integer.
Read-only closures are way simpler than read-write ones. The problem is that if they're writable, you can completely break the relatively simple rules they use for making stuff like RAII work, and fixing that requires changing the memory model. Changing the memory model of a language has far-reaching consequences for code-compatibility, enough so that you might as well give the resulting language a different name.

If you mean the UK, then yes, we have the History channel
But they don't run US history shows all that much over here.

we've got

So.... An HP?

He's half a moose.
Filed under: Which half is left as an exercise for the reader.

Which half is left as an exercise for the reader.
For simplicity's sake, assume that the moose is north-bound.

Status: Winter has bothered to show up after all.

I'm not sure if you have whooshed or if I'm whooshing now…

And that's why the name of my account on my new PC is just "user".
If you didn't want us to know your name is Alice, well, you missed a very crucial step.

ssh whoami.filippo.io
Nothing else to say. Cool and creepy and informative (re: the latest openssh bug).

So, IIUC, that site's purpose is to tell people their public keys are public?

Something you don't often think about.
Also, it warns you about he latest openssh bug, if you're affected. Since you didn't see it, I guess you're in the clear.
-
More accurate to say Amazon EC2 is in the clear; that's where I SSH'd to it from

Either Discourse is much buggier than I thought, or my browser is derping.

It's only alice if(Lady Jellypotato)

It is your browser derping, but only because it's trying to render Discourse

Isn't Frasier like required watching for Seattlites? It's taken you this long?
Also Blakey's going down today.
-
Status: Last night, Blakey mentioned he was playing a game. It's one that's in my son's shared library; I'd installed but never actually played it, so I decided to give it a try. Did something else while the game was loading. Alt-tabbing out minimized the game, and I forgot about it. Went to bed. Now Steam thinks I've been playing Blade Kitten for 9 hours, but I've never even gotten past setting the game's audio to a reasonable level from the default "Tell the entire neighborhood what game you're playing."
-
I did that once. Left it running for a week (it was on the front computer) Luckily nobody picked up the wireless controller!
And it was a really short game too, can't remember which one, but definitely not one that needed almost 200 hours to complete!
-
Status: WTH? Is the domain still down?!

Isn't Frasier like required watching for Seattlites?
We usually made fun of it for getting the local geography so wrong, and the "view" out of Frasier's apartment being obviously a hastily-printed poster.
Edit: apparently it's a possible view from upper Queen Anne Hill, but the dialog in the show is impossible. There are no 20-floor apartment buildings there, more than once the location is referred to as "South Seattle" when it's quite a bit north of downtown, and it doesn't jive with the amount of time taken to get to Cafe Nervosa, which is supposed to be on 3rd and Pine.
I found a forum where people theorize the photo was taken from one of the Queen Anne radio towers with a lens designed to "squeeze" the buildings more tightly, then they placed Frasier's fictional apartment halfway up the radio tower.
Either way, even if Frasier's building existed, the view is obviously faked because the downtown buildings aren't that tightly grouped behind the Space Needle from that perspective. The number one thing that amazes Seattle tourists is how far from downtown the Space Needle and Seattle Center actually is. (The name "Seattle Center" does not imply it's in the center of Seattle. Go figure.)
-
People who collect Steam trading cards do that on purpose. Card drops are determined solely by playtime.
-
Card drops in free-to-play games also require ingame purchases.
-
I still don't know for sure that theory of yours is right. I just know it appeared to work that way with SMITE. Unless you have more evidence.
-
For Dota 2, at least, it's $9 to a card.
-
Oh. Well SHEET!

For something like a pool table, they usually take a credit card or a driver's license as the security deposit, and the focus is more on not damaging the cues or balls than the table itself. They can't actually legally take your driver's license forever, it's just incentive for you to not ditch if something happens.
That's what happens here in Belgium at bowling alleys and ice skating rinks too, at least the ones I've been to.
For an apartment, the security deposit is money and is used to pay for any cleaning service or repairs they have to hire after you move out if you left it in bad shape. If you leave it in good shape, you get your full deposit back.
Same here.

Not quite, but my complexion is almost as light as it could be without being an albino. Not quite, but almost. If I were sitting on a beach sipping that , it would turn #gg0000 very quickly.

"Identity is not fully verified" meaning rdphost doesn't have a cert that you trust/some kerberos trust relationship with your computer.
-
There is a way around it using cmdkey to store the credentials. I have done it at work to avoid having to keep looking up passwords.

Yeah. Ever since the PDC crashed weird domain-related things have been happening. For some reason, that VM went back to using a self-signed cert. ....

Well I did follow up (after an hour) with a nice smoothie made of strawberries, sugar, (oranges?), whey protein isolate, and EggNog.
