@brie Looks like it's supposed to be "green onion slices", though I just did a search for that and that's what I found two sites are saying to use.
Here was the first one I found, which references that same image for the recipe:

@ChaosTheEternal the olives sound better, tbh.

Picked up a delivery tonight at a place called Blast & Brew, during which time I took the opportunity to look over the menu. They sell something called a PB+J pizza.
Fortunately, it's not what you think. The toppings are pepperoni, bacon, and jalapeños.

That sounds tasty!

@da-Doctah
I have eaten at a pizzeria that serves the other type of PB&J pizza on their buffet. It’s the most popular dessert pizza.

@da-Doctah I thought that was fries at first... (like some weird inverted Canadian poutine) Then I saw the fake-mayo and saw the word "almonds"...
I'm imagining what it would taste like and it's probably most similar to the kitchen table

Ooh, is that going to be my next gross test pizza??
I'd need to think of some other things to put on it. Peanut butter and jelly is too plain. Cheddar cheese, obviously. Maybe pickles?
edit: maybe bacon. And banana.

On a slightly more serious note: assuming the fund is bright enough to only invest in stuff that's already collectible (as opposed to anything marketed as collectible), then it could work. Buy old Star Wars toys and comic books that are already worth $5k, that sort of thing. Stuff that is both rare and has a large market.
But it's still not likely to do as well as an index fund. About half the time I hear about collectibles, it's "this retailed for $2 30 years ago, and it's worth $10 today!" Unless you bought thousands back in the day, it's not going to move the needle on an investment fund. And if you bought thousands, then they're only worth $3 today.

@da-Doctah I agree, pineapple next to burger patties is a startling sight.

Dear lord, NO!
Part of the yearly king's day festivities is a free (no license needed) market. This does require a license if you want to sell food.
Part of the penalty when unlicensed or unhygienic food stalls are encountered is to spray all food on site blue with food colouring to make it look unappetising.

@da-Doctah said in THE BAD IDEAS THREAD:

You know... I'd eat that if it was a pork patty. Maple and pork goes well together, and I like blueberries.
And, to be honest, I'd try this once. Heck, I'd even pay money for it. Once. I'm dumb like that. (Also: a childhood where Mom's creative outlet was gourmet cooking. I've eaten quite a number of things.)

no idea if this has been done before...
So, there's a thriving scene where developers are modding or writing original ROMs for old consoles.
These developers are constrained by the same hardware limitations as the original consoles.
For cartridge-based consoles, it was common practice for games developers to pack extra hardware (memory, mappers, battery backed saves, even coprocessors!) right on the cartridge.
It's my understanding that these memory mapper chips et al require special handling by the emulation software.
So, has anyone designed a nonexistent memory mapper that could vastly expand resources for homebrew/romhacks? It seems like it would be mostly a process of writing a spec and getting it implemented by a few popular emulators.
Then we could pack a ton more content into these.
I'm assuming this idea belongs in this thread and someone will me to say why.
-
@error Or for that matter, a new Z machine version with looser constraints.

I've seen some SNES hardware vids, and I know there's quite the variety of mappers even historically. Have you investigated existing mappers?
I seem to recall cartridges in the megabytes were a thing even historically.
If this is a Z-machine related project, I'd expect the fact game consoles generally do not support keyboards to be a bigger problem.

Add curry, and I've been at a pizza dive that had just that. It was reasonably popular too.

From what I read, the SNES can handle up to 128Mbit (16MB) cartridges but the largest official games only went up to 48Mbit (6MB) so there's plenty of extra room to use already.

I've seen a consumer version of that in the freezer case at a pan-Asian supermarket I visit. Using naan for the crust.

Z7 and Z8 were inventions by Graham Norton decades after Infocom stopped producing, so yes. Most IF that needs to break out of the sandbox uses the entirely incompatible (and designed from scratch) Glulx machine though.

Keyboard support has been a part of every console since the Wii, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and Dreamcast. Admittedly, those post-date the retro scene's target consoles, but some of those too got limited keyboard support in some applications, which emulators also handle.

@anonymous234 I'm guessing it's probably based on the idea that cockroaches will survive just about anything, including humanity destroying all higher life forms in a nuclear holocaust. However, they obviously didn't have any marketing people involved in picking the name.
