@Zerosquare There should be some limitations to the distance you can put between your company and the sub-sub-sub...contractors you "employ". All too often it's done by companies who want to have both the flexibility and low prices. Should be an either-or.

Status: For some reason, Disqus still has me logged into an account I created years ago, that never got any verification emails. It's probably because of the
+something
in the email address, so that I'll theoretically know when they sell my address to scam spammers. Anyway, re-sending the email never works so I can't actually do anything with the account.

Status. I just spent 30 minutes writing a simulation of a guessing game to prove a point i'm like 75% sure didn't need to be made
I'm a hundred percent sure it didn't need to be written in JavaScript either, but i did so there.

Status: I think I've managed to convince myself to some extent that I'm now a game developer. I need to get my game actually working soon so I can start adding systems and content, but I finally feel like working on it is just part of my life now.
Not being an enthusiast is going to be a big help here, because this needs to really be work and not just some little project, or I'll never finish it. I can do this!

You know, I'm wondering what the adoption rate of a "Break everything legacy, just keep the new 'secure' APIs" edition of Windows would be.
And I'm not talking about Windows S.

So the query language I wrote for error_bot roles is proving very powerful for my RPG module.
Some examples of rules I've been able to write with it:
- clerics must be good or evil (never neutral), must have at least 12 wisdom, and can equip heavy armor but not blades (unless they are blessed)
- rogues cannot be lawful and can equip short blades, crossbows, and leather armor
- FooSword can only be wielded by barbarians or { evil fighters with at least 16 str }
All of these can be represented in a pure data format (eg YAML).
-
As for actually describing equipment types, the easiest route seems to be sort of a tag cloud.
Longsword gets tagged with
- weapon
- blade
- melee
- steel
- metal
- medium

Status: Repurposing some player inventory management code so that item sub-inventories (think "bag of holding") can be implemented.
Here's the code that determines if a given inventory type is expanded:
if (Attribute.AttributeName.StartsWith("INV.Expand")) {//If it is an inventory expanding attribute that was updated FString LastCharacter = Attribute.AttributeName.Mid(Attribute.AttributeName.Len() - 1, 1); int32 InventoryNumber = FCString::Atoi(*LastCharacter); ...
What the shit? Why did the person who wrote this assume there would never be more than 10 inventory types ever? The code to make it support arbitrary type numbers is even simpler!
if (Attribute.AttributeName.StartsWith("INV.Expand")) {//If it is an inventory expanding attribute that was updated FString LastCharacter = Attribute.AttributeName.Mid(11); //TODO: Maybe make the attribute-name-to-look-for a const and get the length from that instead? int32 InventoryNumber = FCString::Atoi(*LastCharacter);
You literally went out of your way to make this breakable. I can't harder.

Current Status: "EPSecurityService.exe" is preventing me from doing actual work. Since several minutes, it has terrible disk access (more than 10 MB/s read, sometimes beyond 50 MB/s), 30-80% CPU load, and prevents Visual Studio from compiling:
"error MSB3021: Unable to copy file "xy.dll" to "bin\Debug\xy.dll". The process cannot access the file 'bin\Debug\xy.dll' because it is being used by another process."
Well, fortunately Firefox is still usable. A good time for the daily WTF.

Yeah, Dublin was hit by a storm and a hurricane tomorrow!
There's moisture trapped under the screen protector on my phone making it more difficult to type.

While they are called earwigs, anything in that regard is a myth.
Still, I find them repulsive, probably subconsciously because of scary myths.

I find it rare to find egg on burger on the menu, but i've yet to find a place that serves burgers and has eggs on the menu (even if only for breakfast) that won't put an over medium egg on my burger if I ask nice. They usually don't charge me for it either because they don't have "add egg" as an option for burgers on the register..... not that I object to being charged when they do, i did ask for the egg after all.
Still i've never tried pineapple on a burger..... Will have to get a pineapple and experiment some time soon... It sounds like something that would work well.
