The new Firefox logo looks like a parody of flat and minimalistic logos. Thanks god they didn't go as far with the browser logo itself.
-
At least they changed Lockwise from the old name and logo
-
Didn't we already have a thread about this (firefox logos)?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Thanks for digging it up.
@obeselymorbid might just start "liking" its posts:

Mozilla needs to fire their marketing department, because they obviously got nothing better to do than redesigning the logos all the time. A sure sign of marketing desperatly trying to motivate their own existence.

Without reference to any question of the "death by marketng" aspects of the process, I note one thing in the article. There is, apparently, "burly" evidence that Safari's anti-tracking algorithms are being side-stepped by ad companies.
"Burly" doesn't seem to me to be an adjective well-suited to the word "evidence". Anyone have any ideas what it might mean there?

The first thing I thought of was "Wait a minute, didn't they just change the logo, not too long ago? And now they're changing it again? Did they hire Microsoft's Chief ADD Officer in charge of MSDN?"
So, TRWTF is that Mozilla created two sets of new logos, a year ago, and just finally got around to deciding which ones to use.
-
"And Mozilla has more logos coming. "
“We have to stretch our brand guidelines even further in the months ahead, so we’re interested in hearing your reaction to what we’ve done so far.”
You haven't been interested in what your users think for a few years now.

Another name change for the better

@El_Heffe My first quick impression was "there's an EYE LOOKING at me!!!"
-
I've never once looked at a logo and used that to decide whether I should switch products or not. (Well, except maybe the penis swastika logo, but I don't even remember what product that was.) I'm not even sure I know what the old Firefox logo looks like, and I use Firefox.

From TFA:
Funny fact: that's actually mirrored from what it is supposed to be. I don't know if it's the world's silliest direct-linking protection scheme, but they have this CSS rule:
#featured img, div.like-article-list img, div.right-top-news img, div.left div.imgholder img, #left div.cat_listing div.content div.right div.small-listing div.thumb img, .copy-url img, #out_window .ow_item img { -moz-transform:scaleX(-1); -o-transform:scaleX(-1); -webkit-transform:scaleX(-1); transform:scaleX(-1); filter:FlipH; -ms-filter:"FlipH" }

Burly means tough and rugged. "You got a problem with our evidence, there, boy?" Preferably asked while gently pounding your ample fist into the open palm of your other hand.

Ah yes, all those Firefox apps and services that everyone uses...

Lockwise
Apparently that's Firefox's password manager and they're really proud of it.
Given that there are already 48365 password managers, including many that are integrated in various OSs, why not just make a simple API to connect any of them to the browser? You know, choice and freedom and all that?

NIH.

The logo from Firefox 3.6, circa January 2010, looks perfectly fine to me.
Another example of changing something, and making it worse, "because fuck you, that's why."

Let's all just take a moment to appreciate this magnum opus of marketing drivel:
But the new brand look “is about more than logos,” the company insists. There’s a new color palette, a new shape system, and a modern typeface. The rebranding is apparently built on four pillars:
- Radical. It’s a radical act to be optimistic about the future of the internet. It’s a radical act to serve others before ourselves. We disrupt the status quo because it’s the right thing to do.
- Kind. We want what’s best for the internet and for the world. So we lead by example. Build better products. Start conversations, Partner, collaborate, educate, and inform. Our empathy extends to everybody.
- Open. Open-minded. Open-hearted. Open source. An open book. We make transparency and a global perspective integral to our brand, speaking many languages and striving to reflect all vantage points.
- Opinionated. Our products prove that we are driven by strong convictions. Now we’re giving voice to our point of view. While others can speak only to settings, we ground everything in our ethos.
-
@blek Clearly you have not seen the Pepsi logo design strategy.

One true sentence slipped in somehow.

Awesome. Does that include pedophiles and mass-murdering drug lords? (You can substitute other socially unacceptable groups here in your head if you prefer. I don't really want to know…)

the penis swastika logo,
I would probably buy that sticker and put it on my work laptop. If you remember please post.

@HardwareGeek I'm seeing penis but no swastika.

@DogsB I think that's the one that was being referred to, but
