Don't know why, perhaps related to things that happened in https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/25793/proposal-for-a-new-category/
Still, his profile says "Last online about 2 hours ago"

@kazitor Sigh. It's just not the same without him screaming at random passersby to stop screaming at him.

Why don't you @ blakey? I'm assuming that will make him scream too.

I've known of the jet, but only today applied to razor cleaning.
Oddly enough, that's not something I did much when I was younger.

Because you don't @ blakey. Such are the rules.

-
@kazitor and if Blakey wasn't refusing to post here, we'd here all about what an annoying asshole @Atazhaia is for that.
-
@kazitor I usually dip the razor in a bowl of water and vigorously shake it. Works okay. The blocking the tap with a finger is a messy trick though.

@Gąska He hasn't shouted at me for @-mentioning him yet at least.

@Atazhaia you should page him then.

@pie_flavor I missed the phase where blakey transitioned from open source rants to accusing people of calling him names.
-
@stillwater There was a phase? He was accusing people of calling him names since I joined this hell site.
-
@Jaloopa I should call Cambridge and ask them to revoke my English certificates.

When our LFS repo updates, it's time to go to lunch while
git rebase
. Thankfully I don't have to push. Our remote guy on the low(er) speed connection gets to do that!

This. Biting, piss, and shit starts happening, in addition to the frantic struggling. I don't have the patience in this, I guess.

And it failed. The remote disconnected unexpectedly after transferring all the data but before committing it on the remote side.

That's like the 650M file I tried to upload to Slack for a coworker. (Trying to get it from Jenkins always timed out on him). Fully uploaded, processing, failed.

Wow. I thought mine were bad. We just get the frantic struggling. It's so bad it's almost impossible to do the trimming and greatly increases the likelihood of trimming them too short, which of course reinforces the reason for struggling. But pissing and shitting, that's beyond my experience.

Status: Fixed an intermittent network disconnect problem at home. By just changing the cable… something which it would have been trivial to do ages ago too…
Oh well, at least it was a cheap fix.
-
@dkf: I'd love to see an estimate of the global amount of time/money/productivity lost because of bad cables. I bet it's significant.
(I once lost several days of work looking for a problem in hardware I designed, when the actual issue was a faulty cable which malfunctioned when it was flexed at a certain angle).

Status: Okay, now that the house is pretty much furnished and big maintenance items are probably 5+ years in the future, it's time to resume thinking about toys.
I had previously been giving some thought to more car mods, but have decided against it for now given the risks of adding a ton of power to a high-mileage car that's already making well above stock power, and because even if there are no problems, it still won't be up to par with what one can get from the factory today. Also, the market has been shifting.
In particular, prices on the the cheapest used 6th gen ZL1s are starting to become sane. (relatively speaking, of course. That's a $70k car brand-new if lightly optioned). And C7 vettes, even more so.
The funny thing is that the price difference between the two is roughly what the KBB thinks my aging, high-mileage car is worth.
But that's actually helpful for a reason I'm about to get to...
If I go the way of the C7, I'll probably need to keep my current car for winter weather, as while it's not an optimal winter driver, it should be slightly better and more practical and one can at least fit a spare set of winter wheels (or other cargo, in general) into the car for the trip over to the tire shop. I'm not sure it's possible to do the same in the C7. And then I'd have two cars, which is cool in some ways, but inefficient and a hassle in others.
If I go the way of the ZL1, I can sell my current car to compensate for the price difference, I'd be only maintaining and insuring one car, and I can fit a set of winter wheels into the car to swap them as the seasons pass. But, it's also a more expensive car, not only in terms of monthly payment, but in terms of MPG and tires. I am used to poor MPG and expensive tires, though, so that may be a marginal issue.
From a performance standpoint, they're both 11-second quarter-mile cars from the factory (this being a requirement for my next car), with the ZL1 being faster in theory. I say "in theory" because the ZL1 is supercharged, and my experience with supercharged cars and the dragstrip is that if it isn't relatively cold and windy outside (e.g. 45-50°F), the supercharger will induce heatsoak in the staging lanes and the car will be down 50+ horsepower for the actual run. Waiting an hour to cool down between passes also sucks. For that purpose, the naturally-aspirated and lighter C7 might be a better choice, even if it's slower in stock form.
Two cars or one? LT1 or LT4? I'm not making a move until I've saved up a shitton of money for a down payment, so there's plenty of time to think. These are Good Problems™ to have.
