Wow. The scammers aren't even trying any more
-
-
That reminds me, I need to get on to doing my tax return sometime soon.
-
@El_Heffe This is trying enough. Most of those who are likely to fall for scam will fall for this already and the rest is unlikely to fall for even a better fake anyway.
-
@Bulb Darn right
-
Seems legit
-
"Use your smartphone?"
"Fast & easy?"You're right, they aren't even trying anymore. The real IRS wouldn't ever send something like that.
-
By coincidence, I've met link to this:
-
@Bulb I bet there would be a huge demand if you google and facebook allowed to target advertising only to idiots

Why would you want to advertise only to Apple users ?

They've already demonstrated that they have more money than sense. That seems like the perfect target market for scammers.

This is what happens when you reply to spam email - James Veitch
This playlist starts with 3 TED Talks of James Veitch, where he shares his ridiculous email-sessions with scammers. Must-watch! :D
-
@sockpuppet7 Well, they don't directly do that, but I'm sure you can find plenty of "user interests" that correlate with stupidity.

Facebook already targets Facebook users.

I think the idea is that they don't want to have to deal with people like James Veitch.

James Veitch saw through their cunning plan. That's why I said "people like James Veitch".

Got this one today.
The link "See Receipt" points to a domain called labiaplasty-florida.com
-
Users don't real URLs. Why should scammers bother to register domain names, when there are plenty of vulnerable websites that can be hijacked?
-
I'm seeing things like these as "landing pages" in Google Analytics for my site. I assume hackers/scammers are trying to do something, but I can't imagine what. Doesn't seem like they've managed to break anything.

Thank goodness they weren't able to get the non-existent
boot.ini
file from the virtual root of the Windows 2016 box!Or the
passwd
file from the same! One wonders what metasploit payloads they're running, since they got automatically rate-blocked so I don't see them anymore...

Why would a hacker want to get that? Not only it doesn't exist since Vista, even then the best you get is the name of the installed OS, which you can get with good old tcp/ip fingerprinting.
