Has any of them been in a movie with Kevin Bacon?
In that particular chain, no. I'm also not sure what their Erdös Number is (but I'm pretty sure mine is lower ).
I got pretty upset when I learned that my (then) bf not only has a lower Erdös number than me (I expected that) but also, for a broad definition, a finite Bacon number.

I don't usually take those.

Now would be a good time to break that habit

Status: It is yet again time for us to get learned how to not commit plagiarism. Our librarian helper is telling us currently how PDF is a picture file of how it appears in the journal, and therefore it's consistent across laptops and desktops. Apparently PDF will contain charts, but HTML is just text, so we should always choose PDF over HTML when reading articles.

Everywhere it was shown, the library logo was horizontally compressed by a factor of about 2. It was impressive.

Gorram it Barnes and Noble, your “sales audit” department can go suck a fat one. This is the third time I’ve tried to order from your online store and your audit department cancelled the order for “not passing your order validation checks” but I can’t resolve this via email, only via your phone line which is only open from 10AM to 4PM my time, while I’m at work.
Die in a fire.

Status: Bank just randomly decided to increase my credit limit to $29k with no promoting. Ok, I say no prompting, but I did try to have it increased to $20k a year ago.
This means I can now shove 1/3rd of my outstanding student debt on the card, which has a monthly interest rate of only 2.3x that of the loans! Surely I'd be saving money at that rate, right????

Hallway thought: Given the nature of how WiFi signal strength is measured (dBm, which is decibels compared to milliwatts), the fact that a -70 signal is strong enough for one of the highest bandwidth encodings means that our laptops and routers' receivers are so sensitive that they're able to perform at full power with 0.1 nanowatts of signal received.

@blakeyrat @mott555 @HardwareGeek A few things--
in this case, just about everyone else at work has already had it. It's been a rough few weeks for absences (even among faculty). That, and it came on mid-day when it's not really feasible to go home early.
As a teacher, working from home is not an option (obviously). To be absent on short notice, I must
a) create semi-rational lesson plans (which are normally in my head)
b) figure out how to rebalance the schedule (a non-trivial task when I have to stay parallel with other teachers of the same course)
c) grade whatever work they produce while I'm gone (which is trivial if I can do it as they go, but a pain to do all at once)
d) reteach the material from before I was gone, since it normally gets reinforced day by day.I'm 80% sure it's just aggravated allergies (since I'm allergic to just about everything pollen-wise).
If it stays bad I'll call in sick tomorrow (ugh).
Had a college professor that had something like a 50% chance of showing up at any day.

Welcome to my Fortran-does-MPI hell from 3 weeks ago. I intended to write a separate rant about that once I recollect all the many different WTFs on the way.

@topspin found the overflow in a debug log message, that had a string without the null terminator

Are they expecting a dragon to be providing or drinking the beastmilk? If they're providing it, where the hell are a dragon's tits? If not, would the dragon be feeding off the poster?

@Jaloopa
Traps are people who couldn't become anyone's bf the normal way, so they decided to become trans lesbians instead.

I think in this context it's "boyfriend" which would provide a very different kind of "milk" to drink.

@Atazhaia It could also work as "best friend"!

Not a smartwatch. It has a CR2016 in it, but if you pry at the battery
just wrongat all it snaps the screw that connects the time adjustment knob thingy to the internal mechanism. So it still works, but I can never correct the date or time on it again.EDIT: Dangit. Of course it's a discontinued model despite being 2 years old so I can't even replace it.

Status: Entity Framework feature that I thought was working ( using the
.Include()
thing to pre-load data ) ended up not. Apparently, using a.SelectMany()
completely ignores that entirely, so when I switched to explicitly destroying the db context (usingusing
blocks) this visibly broke in the runtime.Of course, I wasn't actually needing the
SelectMany()
, the idea was to avoid looping loops in the event that we wanted MasterServer to handle multiple clouds at once, but since this is currently not the case I just switched to selecting theFirst()
result and bob married my uncle.Thanks, Entity Framework.
