@scholrlea Is there a text version of the story?

-
@timebandit I was about to say "I follow kickfailure!" but then I look at the date, it's so old it's before I added it to RSS. So.

So if the Unreal Engine's logo goes on something that makes them responsible for how its used?
Yup.
Why do you think people instantly associate "Unity" with "shitty unfinished games using free assets some idiot put on Steam Early Access then abandoned forever"?
Yeah, but they associate that with the developer, pre-judging them based on their decision to use Unity. Not with Unity for the system.

Dammit WTF are you doing?!!?

God damn it Samsung. This is a SCREENSHOT. How fucking hard can it be to save an image at the time it was taken?! If you just create a new file, it'll be done correctly for you. But no, let's do something fancy that fucks up.

NVidia graphics card, I presume?

WTF Bite: Apparently you can customize what your display name is from the email client's side.
Discovered this when a GApps user I manage wanted their name changed, so I changed it (easy enough), but their name remained the same when emailing from their iPhone.
I says to myself, "No fuckin' way!!!" And promptly tried it myself:
I have no words...

@tsaukpaetra How'd you know?

Trivia database recollects an incident with Windows where the Microsoft-provided versions would exhibit similar signs. But that usually only affected the spring creators update IIRC...

I just realized Boss has uploaded a screenshot of his bank report while demonstrating the doomed SAAS product we are developing. TIL office water cooler balloons are surprisingly expensive.

TIL that while Dreamweaver has built-in support for Markdown syntax highlighting, it refuses to open .md files and complains about not being able to find a suitable editor.

@tsaukpaetra same goes for the date - it's stored in the message headers controlled by the mail client - which some people exploit to submit things hours later than deadline and sometimes even get away with it. (Because who would look at the
Received:
header when there'sDate:
?) Also, that's how some mail list archives store e-mails from January 01, 1970: they were sent from clients with botched dates.

After checking and verifying that I do not have an Adblock filter preventing all of the Twitter embeds from loading (in Firefox), I discovered this...

This drive is slightly over temperature:
-
@polygeekery I've heard about heat-assisted magnetic recording but I wasn't aware it was used in consumer hard drives already!
-
@mott555 I should probably let the client know that their server room is about to burst in to flames, but I CBA. Too busy watching a livestream.
-
@polygeekery did you have the print-and-play version of Katalyka stored on that drive, by any chance?
-
@polygeekery It probably burst into flames long ago. Best to let it burn itself out at this point.
-
@polygeekery But not actually live.

An "SEO expert" sent this pitch video to superuser.com, offering advice on how to "fix" their site. She has NO idea what the site is about, it's hilarious.

@cartman82 This is so fucking hilarious in so many ways. I want to see her do stack overflow.

Why are the tracks out of order? The numbers are right there, in both the metadata and the filenames:
Fake edit: I just had another look and there's a sorting thing in the corner. Lets see what options that has
How is this even possible?

The funny thing is that all the recommendations in that video are things that make me avoid companies and websites and never return.

@hungrier Is it sorting on popularity rating? ...well, except that it says it's sorted by ascending track #. Are there two different track numbers: one for display, and one for internal use (like sorting)?

I figured it out, track 4 and 5 were tagged with disk 0 and the others with disk 1. So apparently I'm TRWTF and need to go through and retag my music.

@pie_flavor I can appreciate that ryan96t remained cordial despite nearly everyone (listed, at least) coming just shy of calling him an idiot.

@djls45 That's not the bit that pisses me off. We get enough of those. The bit that pisses me off is him essentially refusing to read the documentation and bugging us for help instead because he 'learns by doing'.

@pie_flavor I'm really sad you decided to default that open. Oh well, I'm past now and no more jellypotato.

Video encoding is weird, man. I recorded a 60 second lossless video and wanted to figure out the best way to compress it while still being lossless. Hardware encoders shaved off a meg at most, so I threw them out immediately. Then I ran some tests with software encoding and got such weird results that I decided to go all out and try every preset. is up with libx265? It's a huge improvement over libx264 but using a slower encoding speed sometimes results in worse compression??
All values are measured in bytes.

Syntax
UnpauseQueueMember([queuename,interface,[options,[reason]]])
Arguments
queuename
interface
options
reason - Is used to add extra information to the appropriate queue_log entries and manager events.
Apparently, I can just pass it
options
. Nothing specific, justoptions
. Fair 'nuff. I choosemake-coffee
.
-
UnpauseQueueMember
Since I had no idea what you were talking about, I duckduckgoed that and got this:
The option string may contain zero or more of the following characters:
- j - jump to priority n+101 if the agent is not a member of the queue
Edit: where the
n
value comes from is left as an exercise to the reader.Edit 2: I do realize the documentation on wiki.asterisk.org doesn't mention this.
Also this (http://asteriskdocs.org/en/2nd_Edition/asterisk-book-html-chunk/asterisk-APP-B-231.html):
If the options parameter is set to the letter j and the queue member can not be found, and there exists a priority n+101 (where n is the current priority), control of the call will continue at that priority
Edit 3: typo and formatting
-
GODDAMNIT, it's horrible enough that the emoji autocompletion popup takes forever to load, but does it have to block typing???
-
@zecc Yeah, it's fascinating. voip-info is actually horribly out of date, but since Asterisk doesn't like breaking changes, most of the time it's serviceable still. Apparently, they made the docs worse at some point, probably when they added the
reason
field. From another site this was, apparently, the output ofcore show application PauseQueueMember
in Asterisk 1.4:-= Info about application 'PauseQueueMember' =- [Synopsis] Pauses a queue member [Description] PauseQueueMember([queuename]|interface[|options]): Pauses (blocks calls for) a queue member. The given interface will be paused in the given queue. This prevents any calls from being sent from the queue to the interface until it is unpaused with UnpauseQueueMember or the manager interface. If no queuename is given, the interface is paused in every queue it is a member of. If the interface is not in the named queue, or if no queue is given and the interface is not in any queue, it will jump to priority n+101, if it exists and the appropriate options are set. The application will fail if the interface is not found and no extension to jump to exists. The option string may contain zero or more of the following characters: 'j' -- jump to +101 priority when appropriate. This application sets the following channel variable upon completion: PQMSTATUS The status of the attempt to pause a queue member as a text string, one of PAUSED | NOTFOUND Example: PauseQueueMember(|SIP/3000)
Currently, in Asterisk 15:
-= Info about application 'PauseQueueMember' =- [Synopsis] Pauses a queue member. [Description] Pauses (blocks calls for) a queue member. The given interface will be paused in the given queue. This prevents any calls from being sent from the queue to the interface until it is unpaused with UnpauseQueueMember or the manager interface. If no queuename is given, the interface is paused in every queue it is a member of. The application will fail if the interface is not found. This application sets the following channel variable upon completion: ${PQMSTATUS}: The status of the attempt to pause a queue member as a text string. PAUSED NOTFOUND Example: PauseQueueMember(,SIP/3000) [Syntax] PauseQueueMember([queuename],interface[,options[,reason]]) [Arguments] reason Is used to add extra information to the appropriate queue_log entries and manager events. [See Also] Queue(), QueueLog(), AddQueueMember(), RemoveQueueMember(), PauseQueueMember(), UnpauseQueueMember(), QUEUE_VARIABLES, QUEUE_MEMBER, QUEUE_MEMBER_COUNT, QUEUE_EXISTS, QUEUE_GET_CHANNEL, QUEUE_WAITING_COUNT, QUEUE_MEMBER_LIST, QUEUE_MEMBER_PENALTY
(Yes, different command, the docs have the same problem be it Pause or Unpause)
Asterisk: We almost never break backwards compatibility. Unless it's in the docs.
Filed under: OK, they also changed the argument separator from
|
to,
at some point, thank fuck
-
Oh, also, addendum.
priority n+101
pretty much means "it's agoto
, not to a label but to a line number that's 101 larger than current`.Yeah. Beautiful.
Of course, you can trick it, BASIC style:
exten => _XXX,1,NoOp("This is priority 1") exten => _XXX,2,NoOp("This is priority 2") exten => _XXX,103,NoOp("Never mind me....")
Well, you can, if you want to use this horrible syntax. If you do, however, I'm forced to question your sanity...

"I'm not asking you to do it for me, just if your answer happens to give me teh codez I would appreciate it"

Dunno what the point is. They want to lose time with "planning" meetings and "reviews" and whatnot, but the manager doesn't care about that, and there is no product-owner to priorize stuff, and the sprints would totally ignored by the rest of the company and we still have deadlines and stuff that needs done immediatly that doesn't care about these sprints.
Is it a WTF? It feels like an WTF.
