What is your dream drive?
-
My dream car is a 1967 Corvette, preferably with a souped-up LB7 Duramax stuffed under the hood if physically possible.
-
I'll take one of these, please.

Provided, of course, that driving my current set of wheels becomes too boring.
-
I've always liked the Shelbys from the late 1960s:

Ah, back when you could bang someone on the hood of your car and still have them pass the "You Must Be This Tall To Ride" signs.

I'm having trouble parsing this. At what point do you stop being able to pass the "You Must Be This Tall To Ride" signs? Does it come and go with age?
-
@Tsaukpaetra I think he meant that the cars were bigger then. If you get my meaning.

1933 Pierce Arrow "Silver Arrow"
Number produced: 5
Number remaining: 3

I'd really love a Tesla model S, I'd really love an electric car because it'd save on fuel costs, and I'd rather not pay over 50% on fuel tax any more. At the moment not many cars have enough range for me, but the Tesla does (clocking in at 300 miles ish).
Forgetting the issue of fuel, my dream car would be a Bac Mono. That's right, a road legal single seat racer.
-
@DoctorJones Why the Mono? For what they charge for one of those you could get two Ariel Atoms, either of which would out-drive it and let you terrify a passenger.
-
@flabdablet it's a dream car, I didn't consider practicalities. I'd only get one if I became unexpectedly rich. The same would go for the Atom. They'd be loads of fun to have though :-)
The Tesla is much more practical for a dream car, so that'd be what I'd get if I had a minor windfall, the BAC is reserved for when I become "Moneybags McGee". In that situation I'd probably also get a pair of Atoms and invite you round for a race ;-)

As long as I get to pick the route, I reckon my Peel P50 would win it :-)

bagger 288 is cool
-
@groo Great commuter vehicle, but the parking fees really bite.
-
@flabdablet parking fees? Wouldn't you just dig up your own new parking lot?

He means if you fuck a girl on the hood of a C-Max she's by necessity like 7 years old and you're a pedophile who deserves death.
-
After watching Black Lightning, I kind of want a 1966 Gaz-21 Volga.
EDIT: Leno has one:
-
-
@Erufael I used to have one of those, but with the 4.3L V6 instead. Being a standard-cab stick shift, it was nearly useless for passengers; and having a 150 horsepower engine meant it was nearly useless for truck stuff; and being a gasoline-powered truck meant it got 14 mpg. I don't miss it.
-
@mott555 My friend had one with a 350 boat engine in it since his dad worked at a marina. Automatic transmission. Thing was a beast. Of course the MPG is shit, but hey, thats why it's in the dream cars thread. ;) Actually in a perfect world I'd have one of these along side a sedan or something for driving more than medium distances.

Well, if we want to expand to two dream cars, then I already have one of mine. 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, with a 400-horsepower diesel V8, 4-door crew cab. Tons of power and towing capacity for truck stuff, seats 5 passengers comfortably, and still gets 20 - 25 mpg. Just needs a 1967 Corvette parked next to it.

Ooh, that do sound nice. I just love the look of the 90's ones the best.

Huh. TMYK.
-
@Jarry Anything Group B is pure beast.
I would like the pug 205 turbo of the time.
-
-
@bjolling Are you a fucking Hair-dresser cunt? :D
-
@lucas1 And there I thought my avatar was well anonymized.
-
@bjolling the Z3 is just as bad for hairdressers. I am sure the Elise is a great car but there is no way I am buying one.
Thought I am planning on getting a Merc C series .. so I can't really talk.

That's my current car -- we're not that different

There's also something to be said for these:
Pretty much automatic right of way.
-
@Rhywden I don't think that is classed as a car. Nice try though.
-
@blakeyrat My car has 90HP and will do well over 120mph.
-
@lucas1 Congratulations.
-
@blakeyrat He didn't mention it's only when he's going downhill in the Alpes, downwind.

downhill and wind not needed.
Indeed. You can also simply drive it off a cliff.
Might even improve the car.
-
@Rhywden The car works fine thanks. I've been driving if for a year now (it is over 10 years old and was low mileage and cheap) and I had very minor problems. It isn't perfect, but it gets over 40 miles per gallon and can drives very well.
-
@lucas1 That says 100 HP.
Trying to pull a fast-one, eh?!?
-
@blakeyrat It is a 100PS on another site :D.
-
On holiday. Got one of these in the garage:
Practical? Noβ¦
-
@dkf Top hat, monocle and cane included, I presume?

No, but it's great for showing up those people in Ferraris as the boring tits that they are. Turn up in a Morgan, and you've probably got the most interesting car in the whole place. (Also, got the one with modern brakes because not crazyβ¦)
-
-
@dkf Nice. Really nice.
I am of the understanding that it takes 4 years to build one.
-
@dkf You can tell it's an old car because it wears its belt so high.
... also why does it have a belt?
-
@blakeyrat Where else would it put it's ?
-
@blakeyrat said in Cars Thread.:

No idea. Not sure if the one in the garage here does.
