Status: wife is currently in frenzied cleaning mode because just over a week ago MIL stopped by for a visit and true to form we now have a fresh crop of fleas and WE CAN'T HAVE FLEAS! NOOOOO!!
Hopefully the diatomaceous earth works as well as it has in the past, but I wish she would just let it set and do its thing instead of obsessively cleaning every inch of the house when we should be sleeping.
Update: wife vacuumed up all the fucking diatomaceous earth today, "because asthma", so we can't actually let it set for a few weeks and actually do its fucking thing at killing fleas (including the ones that, you know, hatch), even though it's really only an inhalation problem when you're agitating it -- like sprinkling it all over the place, or vacuuming, or scuffing your feet along the rugs purposely trying to kick it up (I really doubt that just walking on them would cause a big problem -- it really needs to be under and immediately around furniture where the fleas are going to like to hide out when there's not a big fat juicy leg for them to much on). Also I just found a (edit: two) very much alive, not dead flea.
If you can get Indorex in your country it's a godsend. It also kills dust mites so might be an easy sell to your wife.
A friend kindly gave us some really tenacious little bastards from their cats and Indorex was the only thing that successfully murdered them.
Lasts 6 months too, only downside is the price.
Edit: my parents used to use Fullers Sand/Diatomaceous Earth for fleas, my dad was in the Military so used to have mountains of NBC decontamination kits, turns out that's what in the things.

Don't be so intolerant.
I just don't like milk very much. Make it into something else and its fine. Cheese, chocolate, custard, butter, cake. There's plenty of nice things to do with milk, but keep it out of the coffee.
I'm sort of the opposite. Don't care much for cheese, like my chocolate dark, don't care for custard, love butter, am meh on cake. I'm more likely to complain about someone getting coffee in my milk (coffee ; tea ).

She's like, 8 years old and has a gimp leg. We stopped trying to take her out for walks because neither of us can make it to the end of the block and back very well (though her untrimmed nails probably don't help).
Edit: The bed might be slightly small, but considering she doesn't really use it and prefers not laying on it anyways...
Top down, she would only occupy about 2/3 the area of it.

Status update: Perforce has the option to do a quicker "is it modified" check by just using the Modified Time timestamp on the files instead of hashing all the files (which takes forever on a project that measures in the hundred-gigabyte range.
The perforce plugin for Jenkins pretends to do this. It lies.

Unfortunately, time, effort, and money. :(
Looking back, it's been at more than a year since that accident, we didn't have the money then and don't still now. I believe her hip just got popped slightly out of alignment, but I'm no vet so I don't know. Ever since then it's been a slow slide downhill...

We need to collaborate with a team in another country, where the key thing is having a low-latency two-way video and sound feed to them. Some here think that the public video stream of the event will be good enough (Youtube/Twitch) where they don't consider the fact that those have a 30-second delay which in this case is completely unacceptable. How much extra work is it just to take one of our million spare laptops or desktops and throw Skype on it or something? Gah!

Status: An audit today of a combined self-service reset portal for staff accounts (used by management to stop them bugging us in IT) has revealed that we have more failed attempts to reset passwords (the majority due to failing complexity rules) than actual password resets.
A check of a second web application used for external clients to apply for various things online with us shows that 14% of all applications also have a reset password request.
What the hell is wrong with people? We're talking applications for courses that can cost thousands of pounds and they forget their passwords that often? And that's just unique entries, some users have password resets numbering in double figures.
Just because it's expensive doesn't make it important enough that I should have to rotate a high complexity password every 30 days. One of our software vendors gets a password reset from me literally every time I log into their documentation and support portal because they're complexity requirements are insane and they require 30 day rotation.
Someone breaking into that account to RTFM and submit support tickets is so very much not my fucking problem.

Mixer.com is good. Hitbox.TV used to be sub-5 seconds, but I'm not sure what it is now.
If you really want real-time, yeah, you might actually be better off with something like Skype running in addition to your streaming. But try to stream from the raw video source, not the Skype'd compressed version. Compression + compression = crapression.

STATUS: Some update on the $important_event mess is that the boss seems to have been convinced that having the other team also on the public stream is a bad idea, when we need them to have minimal latency. So seems he's working on convincing the rest of the team that we do need a dedicated Skype video call for communication between teams (as in the original plan). The actual public stream can have as much latency as it wants, as that's just for anyone to watch and not for interacting. Also, while Mixer does look nice, the specification from even higher is that the public streaming is to happen on Youtube so that's kinda locked in.
