No, hotel glass wrapper, this is most definitely not my water glass
In Edmonton

Dear graphic designer,
Either you truly didn't know that covering up the e like that makes it look like an o, or your inner biases are showing
-
Greetings from Edmonton. Now fuck off.
-
"Please Keep Off Stage" said the sign on the stage that someone had gone on the stage explicitly to kick over.
-
@lorne-kates stop posting here and start a using your time off properly. Spend some quality time with your family. Go find a transhooker to rape and kill. You know, the usual stuff.

(From July 5th - Northern Ontario)
Just because I'm on vacation and in the middle of Buttsnowhere, Northern Ontario doesn't mean you're off the hook @blakeyrat
-
I'M FUCKING SERIOUS @blakeyrat NOT EVEN ALBERTA WILL LET YOU ESCAPE WHERE IS THE NEXT EPISODE????
-
Regina, Saskatchewan. Not known for being the top academic town, nor province. As evident: I think this hotel misunderstood Head Office's memo about making the hotel "go green"
-
Frantz Motor Inn, Steinbach, Manitoba.
Tiny motel a bit off the Trans Canada. The roads are full of dust, dirt and bugs.
The result of all that dirt + people staying overnight in a place with free towels-- something you don't think about, until you're suddenly presented with a solution to a problem you didn't know existed.

Hey, Lorne, you should make it a family sport. Has Molly murdered her first transhooker, yet?

Not a word I would have expected to see used to describe anything by Slipknot
-
@raceprouk Come on, it's such a sweet little love song:
She is everything to me
The unrequited dream
A song that no-one sings
The unattainable

Molly's getting into trains at the moment. But, like all kids, she wants to do what daddy does, so she's all like:
"Y'know, we could just pluck a boxcar hobo off the next one that passes"
She even thought it through a bit:
"Seriously, look at it. From here to the horizon is 10km of absolutely nothing. NOTHING. You could dump a body anywhere-- literally anywhere-- in the expanse and no one would ever find it. Ever."
-
"I don't like the looks of this one. Don't trust 'um"
"Same to you, bucko"

Sorry, just for my own security and on the advice of my lawyer I never answer that question, regardless of context

Hey, @Lorne-Kates, so is that blood? Why aren't you responding?!
Lorne! Lorne! Are you held against your will? Did the bears kidnap you? Lorne?! Please, kill one transhooker for yes, two transhookers for no, three transhookers for "fuck you, give me money".

I love how someone went out and scribbled DATE above the Time / Temps column.

@jbert I mean really, who would want to date a bear?

Do NOT fuck with Captain Molly while she's on duty.

Visiting the forum causes my phone's cpu temperature too jump 20 degrees and locks up chrome for a few seconds. Brillant.

It's always interesting to read a similar-but-divergent message expressed in multiple languages, e.g. "Write your Bear Sightings HERE!" vs. "Write your Bear sightings in the area here!" Anglophones are thus free to write about sightings anywhere in the universe, while Francophones are constrained to the general area.
-
OH SHIT A PIRATE GHOST!

@lorne-kates
Are you sure it's the forum, and not just an adverse reaction between your phone and ambient temperatures that are above freezing? Has the phone been out of before?

Winter time and the temperature drops? It goes "I'm too cold" and shuts down.
I figured "oh, must be because it was developed in California and they never consider wintertime conditions in their tech".
But then summertime happened, and the phone goes "I'm too warm" and shuts down.

California (the coast) doesn't get all that warm either, up in the bay area where all the tech is.

@lorne-kates No French language? Are you on a, gasp, Washington State ferry!? (AKA the best ones.)

Vancouver-to-Vancouver Island. Not sure why that sign has no French, now that you mention it.
I'm skipping Seattle, so I won't have a chance to prepare. But the BC Ferries were quite nice. Comfy seats, quiet, fast, on time, on board cafe(s) and children's play area. Great viewing decks. Made the 2 hours go by fast.

The Washington State ones have strip clubs and casinos.
One thing I always liked/found distinctive about Vancouver is it's tons of weird cable-stayed suspension bridges. Here in the US, we build even the new ones "normal" (with two parallel main cables, like the Golden Gate).
Canadia:
The far superior area directly to the south:
Even the brand-new Narrows bridge is built in the "traditional" style.
I dunno why Canadians build those cable-stay bridges. Steel costs more in Canuck-land? But they look pretty cool I guess.
Maybe they photocopied the blueprints and got it backwards. "Ok guys, road on the OUTSIDE, tower on the INSIDE, says right here in the blueprint for this egdirb!"
-
@blakeyrat said in Lorne is on vacation:

Yes, we dig the minerals from our land, then sell it to US who makes steel out of it, then sell it back to us at a premium.
Isn't NAFTA great ?
