do you have the feature of being able to go outside, spit on the ground and have it freeze on the way down?
Yes. Sometimes it even freezes before getting out of your mouth.

Sadly there's only spit flavour.

oh yes, that makes it very hard.... to leave a cozy bed.....

Depending on what you just drank, there is beer flavor, wine flavor, and the Canadian flavor: Tim's
-
@timebandit said in Dumb things being crowdfunded.:
the Canadian flavor: Tim'sCovfefe flavour?

@jaloopa No, it's Canadian. So it's couvfefe

I recognize what the protest was about, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't a theft and destruction of crown property, and a criminal waste of tea!

Yeah...that's what happened...
The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 16, 1773. The demonstrators, some disguised as Native Americans, in defiance of the Tea Act of May 10, 1773, destroyed an entire shipment of tea sent by the East India Company. They boarded the ships and threw the chests of tea into Boston Harbor.

The bit where we realised you were beyond help?
Surely you don't still think the whole independence thing was your idea? It was a masterful piece of reverse psychology akin to making an unruly teenager move out by getting them to hate you and want to get their own place rather than forcing them out

No, no, that's not for hedgehogs, that's for Celestials.
They say that celestial beings are creatures of great beauty, hence the term, a-cute angel. Unfortunately, as they come from a rigidly moral society, they tend to be forever convinced that they are always right, a quality that many who subscribe to other belief systems find quite obtuse.

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-answer-to-ugly-bulky-unsafe-outlets-plugs-wifi-bluetooth#/
Because normal extension cords are so much worse!
-
-
@tsaukpaetra Honestly it's not that bad of an idea, assuming they don't cheap out on the components and make it a fire hazard. But then again, the biggest draw for me would be having it flat against the wall so I could actually use the outlet behind my couch, which I could also do with an extension cord with a flat plug:
And I don't know why they're including the USB charger part in the campaign; they should have focused on the outlet cover and extension cord.
-
@hungrier said in Dumb things being crowdfunded.:

I read an article recently that was so dumb that I meant to post it here. It was a listicle of things that the next generation of kids will not know what they are. On the list was conventional outlets. They presumed that everything would be powered off of USB.
Maybe these idiots read the article and rolled with it?

They obviously have a maid so they have no idea what a vacuum cleaner is... (I suppose you could have a cordless vacuum - gonna take forever to charge...)
edit: oh yeah, all the kitchen stuff too. My mind hadn't gotten there yet... on that note, I hear the refrigerator calling me...
-
@dcon yeah, even USB C is only specified to 100w. Much beyond that and you just plug it in to the mains. But they were positing that literally everything would be powered via USB. They never stopped to think about how stupid that position was.
-
This is not the one I read. The one I read was a paragraph or two, but I think #11 here was inspired by it:
-
- Self-driving cars
- Wireless charging
- No more stick shift
Would it be so hard to swap those around, so you see the stick shift one first? At least they had the USB one before wireless charging.
-

Ah, you should have bought the mobile toaster then.
With its sleek design and mere 50 pounds it will toast a slice of bread in 1 minute flat when USB charged for just a few days.
If you buy multiple, you can even toast multiple slices at once, on the go!

Volume wheels. I miss them. Buttons are too slow and coarse.
I wish TVs had a volume wheel remote. That's a crowdfund I could get behind.
-
Fuck that shit. I lost the remote to my smart TV, so have been making do with the phone app. Used to be that to turn the volume down I could grab the remote and press the volume down button. Now:
- unlock my phone
- open the remote control app
- force close and reopen the remote control app because when the screen goes off it loses the connection and isn't clever enough to reconnect so I need to start over
- go to the actual remote control part of the app rather than the "show a picture from your gallery on the TV" part that obviously everyone wants to use
- look at the phone to find the volume button because there's no haptic feedback like on a real remote to allow you to just find the button in the dark.
Yay, hackable houses! That's literally never going to go wrong, and I've never got home while my phone is dead, so there's no need for a fallback
-
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
That should be tattooed on the inside of the eyelids of everyone who comes up with such hair-brained ideas.

there’s no reason to ever buy another extension cord, USB charger or overpriced child proofing device.
Almost bankrupted me.
-
@coldandtired they sell similar things in the UK, despite the fact that the UK plug design means sticking these things in makes them much less safe.
Also, those ones look like a bad design. A cute look to make the plug more appealing to the child, and indents that move it far enough out to be easily removable by tiny fingers? Great idea
