are snack vending machines called ATMs too? or that is only for bank machines you can withdraw money?
-

Well, given they're Automatic Teller Machines, that kinda answers it.
-
@wharrgarbl said in The Official Status Thread:

No, ATMs are only for withdrawing (and occasionally depositing) money.
Machines that dispense food or drinks are generally just called vending machines.

@Choonster so it's a confirmed WTF that here people are calling everything ATMs and retconned this abbreviation into something in our local language that means something like self-service machine.

Status: May have taken me an hour, but I can now (somewhat) replicate the way Chrome Dev Tool open/close works in Windows on my Mac
(F12 is both open and close for DevTools on Windows, but for some reason Cmd + Opt + I on Mac only ever opens DevTools, never closes them if you are using an undocked window, so you have to... select the DevTool window and then Cmd + W instead of just tapping F12 from the same tab associated with the DevTool window.)
Thanks
-
@JazzyJosh That sounds exactly like the Windows behaviour, although obviously it's Ctrl+Shift+I

Status: Got the approval for a one-year subscription for DeepFreeze Cloud for my Surfaces (one year only because we don't want to commit to a longer period right off the bat).
It's actually a nice solution - I can thaw and freeze all my devices remotely, it has automatic update periods so Windows and browser updates can be installed automatically (without any need for intervention on my part) and it can also distribute .msi installers remotely. It also has a Thaw drive which is a partition living off the main partition which is not reset automatically upon reboot.
The previous solution cost quadruple of DeepFreeze's offering and required to do every little change manually - want to install an update? Disable the Guard software, reboot, install the update, enable Guard again and reboot. Repeat 24 times. Also, no thaw drive.
-
@RaceProUK The problem is I can't (or if I can it would take a lot more time to) hook in to the URL of the tab so if I have multiple dev tools open, I'll have to open them with Cmd + Opt + I and if I want to close a specific one Cmd + W or it will just close one at random.
F12 also works on Windows, at least it did for me.

Status: I just opened a laptop that I have not used for a couple of weeks and had to wait through the fucking Win10 update reboot bullshit.
I really hate that BS. I should have brought my MacBook with me. Apple hates their users also, but not that much...

To be fair they don't hate their users that much. They do hate their developers that much though.

i swear, XCode is like one misfeature away from being reclassified as felony assault and battery.
-
@accalia I'm beginning to think each version of XCode was built in the last version of XCode and this entire mess is the result of bugs in XCode 1.0.

Actually, the only reason they've gotten away without the felony charges is that they're a rich corporation. </Commie rant>
Forcing xcode on someone is banned by the 2025 addendum to the Geneva conventions. That's the one that even the worst terrorist states signed. Some things are too horrific even for ISIS.

Just spent ages tearing my hair out over why an
XmlWriter
wasn't writing to anXDocument
after making some changes, and still wasn't doing it even after I took out all the changes and went back to the original code. Then I realised I was inspecting it while paused on the
end using
line, so the writer hadn't closed, so nothing had been flushed to the document. Now I feel like an idiot

Ohai. I see you're making rice.
Add some tumeric-- 1 tsp for a small pot, 1 tablespoon for a large pot. Also, a pinch of saffron, if you have it, but not needed.
Also also, add 1 smashed clove of garlic.
You're welcome.
