@anonymous234 This is one of the most retarded things I've ever seen. Everything shown on the video could work without putting a whole phone inside a case.

Is that even a thing anymore? I actually have a Blackberry phone, and it runs Android.
-
@masonwheeler For brand new models, no.
I have a Blackberry on BBOS 10 but it's 3 years old. I think the company I work for has just stopped being able to get hold of proper Blackberry phones.

Allow me to demonstrate.
We begin with @Karla's inner monologue as she catches up on the Dumb things being crowdfunded thread.
Huh, skorts. Skorts are nice.
Wait, @abarker thinks they're only suitable for children learning to properly wear skirts. This difference of opinions cannot stand!

Wait, @abarker thinks they're only suitable for children learning to properly wear skirts. This difference of opinions cannot stand!I had an occasion to wear a skirt this weekend while riding in an SUV.
A skort would have provided a bit more decorum.

Riding in a horse sounds kinda creepy.
Riding on a horse would would have made the skirt completely useless other than (maybe) hiding the top of my pantyhose.
While important...I consider hiding my panty area more important more important than the top of my pantyhose for general decorum.

@Karla On one hand, I could say that this is how a proper lady should ride, which solves the skirt problem:
OTOH, I'm not sure there is any relevance of mentioning "proper lady behaviour" when talking about you.

Adequately demonstrated by a woman wearing jodhpurs :P
-
@RaceProUK I know, but the first few hits on Google Image with a skirt were not very clear on how the riding went.
(quotes out of context?)
-
@remi Given a sufficiently long skirt or dress the forward position seems to work.
-
@loopback0 @RaceProUK Will you guys stop ruining my joke?
-
@loopback0 Also, the first one seems to be riding without any saddle, which I can tell you is no easy thing as soon as you do more than walking, and the second one, barefoot in standard stirrups? No way she can actually ride like that.
(and both of them better have some kind of legging under their skirt or they're up for some nice burns on the legs...)

Everything about this is genius.

Buuuuuuuut, they are on IGG for only $10K to build an interstellar vehicle. Nice.
Wow, the "science" part is hilarious.
There are 2 types of gravity, Gravity A (works on a micro scale) and Gravity B (works on a macro scale). Gravity B is the big gravity wave that holds the earth and other planets in orbit around the sun and the moon and man-made satellites in orbit around the earth. Gravity A is a much more unfamiliar gravity. It is the main force that holds together the mass that makes up all protons and neutrons. This is also known as the "strong force" in mainstream physics.
The way they intend to build their spacecraft is basically "we found one crazy patent called 'Flying Saucer' and another one called 'Gravitational Force Field' so we're going to slap them together and that will solve all our problems."
I've only really skimmed those patents, but the flying saucer one seems to be "let's use appropriately angled ducted fans to provide lift, and stick solar cells on it, that will easily generate enough power right? After all we save heaps on weight by not carrying fuel or an engine." (They do have a turbine to drive the fans.)
The gravity force field one is a bit more impenetrable but seems to boil down to "if we have some material made up (almost) entirely of nuclei with half-integer spin, and we have one object rotating rapidly very close to another object, there's gravitational coupling which we can handwave into a gravitational shield." Naturally, for this we need very dense objects, so bolting it onto a light-as-possible air vehicle will cause no problems whatsoever!
Not to mention that the "flying saucer" relies on having working fluid (air or water) around it for the fans to operate on, so that will be super effective for a spacecraft.
-
At least only 5 were fooled into thinking the project was even remotely plausible.
-
Has there ever been a "flexible goal" that wasn't a scam?

@ben_lubar Yes

@hungrier Don't these people ever consider how absurd, idiotic and impractical their idea is before making a Kickstarter?
-
@magnusmaster I think that gets overridden by the promise of free money from idiots, which to their credit, they have a reasonably good expectation of getting.
-
@magnusmaster Scamers and lunatics. Not different than most startups looking for venture capital.
