In other news, :disco: :horse: still sucks

Tried to post a thread on another forum that's using and spent 5 minutes to try to create a title that it would accept. Ended up with "Have error, need help". Cuz that's a lot better than what I was trying to put in "org.apache.xerces.parsers.XIncludeAwareParserConfiguration cannot be cast to org.apache.xerces.xni.parser.XMLParserConfiguration"
Thanks
This was the error.

@dangeRuss
From a title perspective, the original option was long enough I'd call it not useful :P In fact, if I had to guess, I would assume you were over the max length configuration option.But yes, bad error message is bad.
-
Even when I changed it to things like "XIncludeAwareParserConfiguration vs XMLParserConfiguration" it still wouldn't take it. I assume I won't take anything that has words not in a dictionary.

Also Ctrl-Z doesn't work. Hit the wrong button on the toolbar, and couldn't undo it.

When did that get fixed here?

I guess it's more broken here when you use the toolbar.
-
They don't let you post words that are too long.
Full text in case of :
It is because a phrase with a lot of periods in between is considered a word, and a "too long" word. This has come up a few times @eviltrout and that regex should be changed to consider a period a "space" for the purposes of that check.
The goal is to block topics that have a title of aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa but the check needs to be a bit smarter about what it considers to be word breaks.

Maybe a pattern based one. So all titles could be of the form "My [noun] is [verb]ing and I feel [emoji]", and then you can choose any of 200 approved nouns, 200 approved verbs and 50 approved emoji, that's 2 million possible titles, which is clearly more than enough for anybody.

@anonymous234 [[topics:acceptable.title,horse,disco,eight_pointed_black_star]]
-
@anonymous234 But how would the discodevs maintain this massive list? Shirley they would need a CDN...
-
@NedFodder No, they'll make a topic in the staff forum where you have to post all the items as posts.
-
@dangeRuss said in In other news, still sucks:
Isn't it annoying when they ask you a question without giving you the chance to answer?
OK

@Maciejasjmj Obviously aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa is uncivilised.

@loopback0 But what if someone wants to scream?

Also uncivilised, presumably.
-
@loopback0 Even if it's a scream of joy?

That still sounds like it'd not be approved by King Jeff™.

Seriously, is a stretch but you get the point.

@JBert No doubt image macros are also acceptable.

That would be aaaaahhhhh, obviously.

@anonymous234 @user has a beef with @user2

@boomzilla That bug was supposedly fixed 2 years ago...

@dangeRuss What do you think the odds are that
XIncludeAwareParserConfiguration
is longer than@opts[:max_word_length]
?

From somewhere else:
Also known as: Happy Sweat Emoji, Exercise Face, "The One With The Gross-Sounding Description" (or maybe that's just me).
Great for: Exercise-related messages; also moments of tension, relief, or embarassment.

@loopback0 damn kids

The original problem is likely due to classloaders, which are the hidden part of the “name” of a class in Java, and which hardly anyone really understands.
