http://www.pfma.org.uk/pet-population-2016 has both. But they're UK numbers...
By animal number outdoor fish come first followed by indoor fish, then dogs then cats.
By household: dogs, cats, indoor fish, outdoor fish.

@PJH by animal number a single bacteria lover could beat dogs cats and fish

Not surprised. Anyone who's ever actually spent time with a cat knows they're sweet and cuddly. They're like soft, warm little Tribbles, except instead of objecting to Klingons they object to having their tails pulled or their fur stroked backwards.

!! Next time a security guard fires at your kids for pulling a prank. Who would send kids to schools like this.
We had an armed sheriff's deputy on campus most of the time at my high school (which began after there was a shooting by a non-student outside of a post football game Friday night dance). No one freaked out about it that I can recall, but after he broke up a couple of fights they stopped pretty damn quick.

The maker of Model S sedans and Model X crossovers saw its capitalization surge to about $48.2 billion, $3.1 billion more than Ford, the No. 2 automaker in the U.S. after General Motors Co.
...
Ford, which reported net income over the last five years totaling $26 billion, towers over Tesla on most metrics. Tesla lost $2.3 billion during the same five-year span. Revenue was $151.8 billion last year for Ford, compared with Tesla’s $7 billion.Hard to fault the short sellers, though their timing may be a bit off.

@Yamikuronue that response is idiotic. Disciplinary action should be taken against Jack, because his phobia -- documented or not -- does not excuse unsafe actions.
People's illnesses do not make them immune from the repercussions of idiotic, dangerous things they did as a result of those illnesses. Saying that his phobia makes him immune to discipline for his actions is about as moronic as saying that a person who got a DUI in a company car is untouchable because he's an alcoholic.
Also, employers are only required to make reasonable accommodations for employees; there is no way to reasonably accommodate an employee who is required to go outside as part of his job duties (or even just come in to work and go home afterward) but cannot go outside because he's terrified of birds.
-
@anotherusername To be fair, as many commenters pointed out, we don't know that action wasn't taken. We know he wasn't fired, and he was made to apologize. He might have been written up, or had a long stern talk about how he can minimize this impact in the future and why it's important to disclose this sort of thing.
We also don't know if he really pushed her, or just bumped into her and she tripped. Even the OP wasn't there and isn't sure. So... it's really impossible to judge what should be happening here from the outside.
But the whole situation struck me as absurd and hilarious, hence why I shared ^_^ it's like, is this real life?! wtf?!

Given that the description of the occurrence says, "he pushed her out of the way," it appears that he actively pushed her.
Further, the excuse that he ran because of his fear of birds doesn't quite make sense. "According to Liz and other witnesses, there was a bird on the sidewalk and when it flew away Jack ran." (emphasis added). Why didn't he run until after it flew away?
Of course, we only have an abbreviated third hand account, so we probably shouldn't judge the situation too harshly.

@abarker said in In other news today...:

It says he pushed her out of the way, and then "Liz fell off the curb and got hit by a car that was parking". This could mean anything from he shoved her with both hands so hard she stumbled off the curb, or he bumped her a bit with his shoulder to get her out of the way and she tripped when her foot came down on the edge of the curb.
-
@Yamikuronue Yeah, if only we had access to some first hand accounts …

Since their logic for not firing him could apply equally well to any other disciplinary action, I'm assuming that at best he received an undocumented verbal warning. Any documented action they took would be cause for him to claim that he was being punished for his mental illness.

It probably flew toward his general vicinity. Or he thought it might.

Either way, it happened as a direct result of him pushing her.
