@Tsaukpaetra multi-touch capable devices can give quite detailed information. For each touch they can provide such details as minor radius, major radius, and angle in addition to just the touch event's center coordinates.
Technology seems to have advanced, I could barely get an approximate size last time I fiddled with it.

This one was cancelled...but damn. A pure cash grab. $25K to build an interstellar vehicle.

Buuuuuuuut, they are on IGG for only $10K to build an interstellar vehicle. Nice.

$150+ 3.5mm audio cables, because fools and their money are easily parted. Especially so if they are "audiophiles".

How about a $40 phone charger that stops charging when your device is full?

Yeah yeah, your phone does that already. But this thing has an app.

even that samsung phone that would burst into flames if you charged it wrong? wouldn't this app have prevented issues?

Maybe, but they should have installed it on the factory.

@blek that is quite possibly the dumbest thing yet.

There are 2 types of gravity, Gravity A (works on a micro scale) and Gravity B (works on a macro scale). Gravity B is the big gravity wave that holds the earth and other planets in orbit around the sun and the moon and man-made satellites in orbit around the earth. Gravity A is a much more unfamiliar gravity. It is the main force that holds together the mass that makes up all protons and neutrons. This is also known as the "strong force" in mainstream physics.
There's a giant total of four different fundamental forces, and you managed to pick two different ones. Congratulations.
Also:
Relativity Research firmly believes that space and all its mysteries are to be made accessible to the public.
Pledge $99 or more
Live Stream of First MissionTo all the public, as long as it can shell out $99! Even if the damned thing worked, it's probably the most bizarre business decision to make. You're sending a vehicle into space, using as-of-yet unknown technology that shatters the foundations of modern science and enables the mankind to reach for the stars. And instead of making sure every single person in the most backwater country knows about said feat, making you a household name for generations to come, you go for an easy $99 grab.

Well, to be fair, all they had was a cash grab. This is one idea that will literally never get off the ground. At least not with these rubes.

Isn't that basically a pre-amp on a cable? That's... actually not a terrible idea.

@Maciejasjmj $25k to do what NASA spends billions doing.
Seems legit.
No, wait, the other thing: fucking insane.

I just received word that the Purple Pillow I kickstarted has a tracking number. Soon I'll be able to inform you lot if I wasted my money on something that belongs in this thread or not. :D
-
-
@RaceProUK https://onpurple.com/pillow
The company started with a mattress that's basically the same purple elasti-polymer-whatsit on top of some memory foam. They then decided "Hey, this works pretty well as a mattress, what about as a pillow?", tested it, thought it worked well enough, and kickstarted a project to make a run of the pillows. I decided my own pillows were getting old enough to start thinking about being replaced, and I've been tempted to get one of their mattresses, so I figured I'd start with the pillow, see how it is, and then use that as a potential guide to whether I buy their mattress or not.
-
@e4tmyl33t Looks interesting. And it's purple too, which is a big plus for me :D
Y'know, I might be tem-
Woah, that's not cheap⦠Think I'll sleep on it.
-
@RaceProUK Yeah, I thought about it for about a week before I decided to commit to the kickstarter, and that was with them doing it for 20% off if you kickstarted it (so I got mine for $80, plus a couple of stress-ball like squishies made of the same material they tossed into all the backer packages).
It's not cheap, and the mattress will be worse (it's about $1000 US for the mattress), but if it's good enough and will help with some of the neck or back pain I get, then it might be worth it.
Edit: Once the thing actually arrives (FedEx is saying Friday, so we'll see), I might just do a little mini-documentary thread about the first couple days with it, see how it goes.
-
@RaceProUK said in Dumb things being crowdfunded.:

For that price you probably won't
-
@RaceProUK
I mean, I would hope after spending $100 on a pillow that you would, in fact, sleep on it. And not turn it into a dog bed or something...
-
How much does the pillow weigh?
The pillow is 24" long, 16" wide, and about 3" tall without the booster. The optional air booster adds up to two extra inches of height. The pillow weighs 10 pounds thanks to the quality materials it's made from (not recommended for pillow fights). And, apparently, you shouldn't be pillow fighting with it either.
-
@izzion said in Dumb things being crowdfunded.:

I'll just consider it my nuclear option should a random pillow fight break out in my house.
That'll give me time to evaluate how the hell the random people that were pillow-fighting got into my house, since I live alone.

no pants zones are the bestest zones.

@accalia I've debated declaring my house a no-pants zone, but that would quickly get awkward without some sort of complicated time-based treaty given that I bring my daughter there occasionally.

I once spent $50 on a pillow. It was completely worth it. Memory foam pillows are great! I'd be interested in how a more expensive one differs.

I...uh...don't exactly have the build to pull that off. I wish I did...most of the time anyway.
I have been tempted to order a kilt just to have something similar.

"No Pants" doesn't mean "naked below the waist" it just means "No Pants"
Underoos, skirts, tutus, shorts, and bikini bottoms are all acceptable items that obey the letter of the "no pants" rule, if not the spirit.
