status Forgot what a pain updating MacOS is. After updating to Sierra, and then updating again because the store couldn't be bothered with installing the real current, then I have to update macports. But to do that, first xcode has to be upgraded - because 7.3 is too old when on Sierra. That's now done. Plus the extra install of command line tools because that's not part of the xcode install. Now working on macports. Think I'll walk the dog while that's chugging along...

Apparently it saves your progress in the local storage... if you reload it, it asks if you'd like to continue from where you left off the last puzzle, or start a new one.

It's the all-green regions that annoy me. Especially when you've got three or more nested levels of all-green. :(

I've seen 2 nested levels of all-green, but three?!
The really dark, almost totally black pieces bother me more, though, because it's hard to see the black borders.
I wish it'd scatter the pieces around the puzzle's perimeter when it starts instead of making a big pile of them though.

On a piece-by-piece basis, the all-black pieces are indeed trickier. However, they tend to be smaller patches overall. Green areas can get very large.
And yes, I'm marooned in a sea of green at the moment.
-
@dkf I've had whole puzzles at the smallest level that were pretty much totally black.
edit: I actually really wish it'd highlight movable pieces on mouseover -- as in, either one piece or a whole group of pieces locked together, if they aren't in the correct location in the puzzle (you can't move them after that).

That would save me so much time, as that's usually the first thing I do.

Yeah... huge posts with like a dozen oneboxes of pages that contradict his point and/or don't say what he claims they say will do that.

Well... since everything is global, it's super easy to just redefine the method that sets them up.
Execute this in the console:
function createChildren(levelData) { var isComplete = levelData.isComplete; if (levelData.path.length == maxPathLength) { isComplete = true; } var inPlace = false; var piece = new Piece(1); piece.makePiece(levelData.u0, levelData.v0, levelData.du, levelData.dv); var dre = levelData.dre / 5; var dim = levelData.dim / 5; var du = levelData.du / 5; var dv = levelData.dv / 5; for (var i=-1; i<=5; ++i) { var v = levelData.v0 + i * dv; var im = levelData.im0 + i * dim; var fy = (i - 2) * 125; for (var j=-1; j<=5; ++j) { var u = levelData.u0 + j * du; var re = levelData.re0 + j * dre; var fx = (j - 2) * 125; var cx, cy; if (levelData.isComplete) { cx = fx; cy = fy; inPlace = true; } else { var h = window.innerHeight / 2 - 90, w = window.innerWidth / 2 - 90; do { cx = Math.round((Math.random() * 2 - 1) * w); cy = Math.round((Math.random() * 2 - 1) * h); } while (Math.abs(cx) < Math.min(500, w - 50) && Math.abs(cy) < Math.min(500, h - 25)); } if (piece.get(piece.padding+j, piece.padding+i).a || levelData.isTop) { levelData.path.push(levelData.children.length); levelData.children.push(createLevelData(levelData.path, re, im, dre, dim, u, v, du, dv, cx, cy, fx, fy, levelData.rot, inPlace, isComplete, false)); levelData.path.pop(); } else { levelData.children.push(null); } } } } // this moves the pieces already in play, unless they're attached to a group or in the correct place var h = window.innerHeight / 2 - 90, w = window.innerWidth / 2 - 90; for (var p of piecesToDraw) if (!p.levelData.inPlace && p.levelData.group.length < 2) { do { cx = Math.round((Math.random() * 2 - 1) * w); cy = Math.round((Math.random() * 2 - 1) * h); } while (Math.abs(cx) < Math.min(500, w - 50) && Math.abs(cy) < Math.min(500, h - 25)); p.levelData.cx = cx; p.levelData.cy = cy; }

@izzion Dude, if anything that's the end of eastern civilization: Japan is already in the middle of huge population decline.
