Wrapping that in a details tag isn't going to hide it, or stop it showing up in your employer's logs / flashing up on your network administrator's screen.
I don't know why logs of ugly and/or nude photos should be worse than logs of browsing what.thedailywtf.com all day long.
We waste our employer's time (and thus, money) either way.
-
@kt_ said in Forum guidelines:
What do you say that?
Speaking of... proper use of rehosting of images combined with a
<details>
tag should cover both issues, no? Since it's fromthedailywtf.com
it won't raise any extra flags (other than those in a certain Korean company), and it won't show up immediately, no?
-
@tufty said in Forum guidelines:
The <details> tag stops special snowflakes like @asdf from seeing things straight off
Wait, what? I don't care whether I accidentally view porn or not, I use NodeBB on mobile when I'm in the office. My opinion is the exact opposite of what you claim it is.

This. The security lady stopped by after she saw I hit the filter (which I do routinely) on a torrenting website. I thought about it for a minute, laughed, and mentioned that "a friend" (you guys) had linked to information about a password breach that happened to be hosted on the forums for a torrenting website. When I hit the filter I just googled for a better source. She shrugged and said "okay, just checking".

In that case,

@tufty said in Forum guidelines:
That if you're posting something that's not safe for work, it remains not safe for work, and thus liable to get people in trouble, regardless of whether you put it in a
<details>
tag or not.Unless, in that particular instance, it's a oneboxable URL, with an associated image. Sticking it in a details tag stops the onebox from running (FF49.0, Chrome 52.numbers), and so doesn't load any images associated with it, whether the details are expanded or not.
-
@PJH I still do not understand why one boxing is done on the client.

Yeah. I said as much a bit later...
@tufty said in Forum guidelines:
However, this does indicate that the
<details>
tag, at least for the moment, appears to defang oneboxed porn.With, of course, the caveat that you trust nobBB's oneboxing behaviour to remain constant, and not suddenly change because . After all, not oneboxing within a details tag appears to be side-effect behaviour. Also note that it only defangs oneboxed porn, so non-oneboxed porn won't be defanged. Formatting a link as a link, however, defangs everything. Again, assuming you trust nobBB to continue treating links as links.

Since I've been a mod, only one person has actually flagged a staff member
To be fair: It's two people now. And none of you @mods have done anything about it.
Oh, yeah, it is now. You know what I'm going to do about that new one? Nothing, because flags are not for communicating privately with the staff. If you want to communicate privately with the staff, open up a chat.

oh. huh. you can write notes on flags as mods?
Hmm.... that may change the implemnetaiton of #5094 a smidge

Just to weigh in, if this forum becomes a place where NSFW content is splattered everywhere without reasonable ways to avoid seeing it, I'll stop coming here. I don't want to see it.

i'll second this.
it's not that i object to seeing the NSFW stuff so much as it's i browse this site AT WORK
-
Dammit @Kuro! That's … two … carry the six … Four now!
As for "how", unless and until @accalia's suggestion get's implemented, this is pretty much it, because putting images in a chat is a PITA. Plus having multiple chats with the same person is apparently beyond NodeBB.

Gaming sites are blocked for me at work which was why I couldn't see the Lara Croft picture someone posted for me.
I'm sure no one looks at the logs here.

I have a faint memory of flagging a stuff member with some variant of whoosh before, but that was probably on discross and so doesn't count towards the statistic?
-
@CreatedToDislikeThis My brain didn't really file badge nominations/votes in the same category as other flags. Had they been filed together, I wouldn't have bothered with my statement.
-
@abarker You got a few s, didn't you?

Me neither. But people, don't post stuff like that, please. It makes work for the staff, which makes us grumpy, so we might just get really lazy and ban your account instead of redacting your posts.

I can see tagging something clearly as NSFW, as a courtesy to people who visit here when they should be working. Other than that, your suggestion just makes me sad.
