Working from home is great; if you don't have a neighbour who's struggling to learn how to play an instrument. And no neighbour hammering and drilling.

@kazitor I don't know what kind of DST transition you have on your time zone (), but here 1:59 AM wouldn't even exist since we jump from would-be 1AM straight to 2AM.
Edit: you've edited your post while I was trying to watch the video. :|

What the hell is VSIXAutoUpdater.exe doing? Crypto mining? It's been like this for tens of minutes now. I'm not even running VS here, so there shouldn't be any interference with whatever it's trying to do.

RE: The Official Status Thread
TIL takes the (yellow) color my CSS for bold tells it to; which makes sense since it's just the character using the Font Awesome font. Also that its right side appears clipped, at least in my machine.

I couldn't take a snapshot at the time, but a while ago I saw an error'd on tv, on the daily weather prediction they show for major cities.
They show 3 cities at the time, with the city name, temperature and weather icon overlaid on a picture of a famous landmark. This background picture is itself altered, likely via a transparent filter, to depict the predicted weather.
One of the cities, instead of the regular photo, had a rainy Chrome "page failed to load" image, complete with browser UI. -

@Zecc from someone who has never done C# (), the bit that looks weird is specifying the
dynamic
part when calling the function, as opposed to when defining it.Just my way of showing it's the type of the expression at the call site that matters. You can declare the
o
argument as dynamic and then you don't have to cast it at the call site inside the firstInspect
. But that confuses matters. The 'magic' is that calling a function on adynamic
will do dynamic dispatch to the right function. Here's a better example: -

Your font is missing some letters — K, W, Y.
More like: our alphabet was missing those letters. And in fact still does except for loan words.
@HardwareGeek said in Bad choice of font:
That's a weird way of writing an X; it looks more like an H to me.
I agree. I would have written it with the two halves touching, even if I kept the horizontal stroke.
@HardwareGeek said in Bad choice of font:
And is that bizarre squiggle between P and R?
I know. I always questioned why that one looked like... that.

My A, M and N would be pointier though. And the G and J would definitely reach under the baseline, and the S shape better defined.

May I ask what is that trick?
Maybe calling a method on an expression of type
dynamic
, which dispatches at runtime according to the same rules as a static dispatch at compile time would use?Inspect(object)
compiles to this, for what it's worth.if (<> o__5.<> p__0 == null) { <> o__5.<> p__0 = CallSite< Action<CallSite, UserQuery, object> >.Create( Binder.InvokeMember( CSharpBinderFlags.InvokeSimpleName | CSharpBinderFlags.ResultDiscarded, "Inspect", null, typeof(UserQuery), new CSharpArgumentInfo[2] { CSharpArgumentInfo.Create( CSharpArgumentInfoFlags.UseCompileTimeType, null ), CSharpArgumentInfo.Create( CSharpArgumentInfoFlags.None, null ) } ) ); } <> o__5.<> p__0.Target(<> o__5.<> p__0, this, o);
PS: call
Inspect
with something which isn't astring
or anint
for a niceStackOverflowException

Of that list, the only ones I've heard of anyone ever actually writing programs in are APL (long ago; it's basically dead today,) Elixir, Prolog, and XSLT — the only non-obscure one of the bunch, but it's been slowly dying for a decade now as JSON takes over the role that XML used to play.
I hear about Clojure fairly often. Though I wouldn't call it popular, I wouldn't call it obscure either.

there are things like eval on JavaScript and c# expressions thing that should solve whatever homoiconystuff solves. c# used it to make linq translate c# to SQL
there is nothing like linq on java, so I think it is a useful featureI've been flirting with the idea of creating my own Linq provider just because I can. RE: WTF Bites
@Zecc Shouldn't they be standing on the faces? Vertices don't have normals, surfaces do.
Vertices can have normals. They are the average of the normals of the faces surrounding them if you want smooth shading. If you don't want smooth shading they can even have more than one normal!
Besides, there are micro-faces in there since the edges are beveled.
Anyway, the point was to have eight humans in there (although one is hidden behind the cube).
