@arantor So we can't make fun of stupid historical stuff just because it doesn't exist anymore? How would the Front Pageinternet even exist?

Group members' post summary too "sticky"
This is a screenshot of the Mafia Players group. It seems that the post summary on the right is still based on the previous Secret Hitler game
EDIT: screenshot has too much sensitive information, will upload a new one shortly

RE: SQL: Boolean column based on a condition
@hungrier Not that I know of. The closest is probably the IIF function, but that's just shorthand for "case when".

IIRC @blubar introduced it after someone almost uploaded a screenshot showing they had access to a Mafia Scum thread.

RE: The bad jokes topic 🐴🍹👨
There are two nuns. One of them is known as Sister Mathematical (SM) and the other one is known as Sister Logical (SL). It is getting dark and they are walking down a dark road, still far away from the convent.
SM: Have you noticed that a man has been following us for the past thirty-eight and a half minutes? I wonder what he wants.
SL: Its logical. He wants to rape us.
SM: Oh, no! At this rate he will reach us in 15 minutes at the most. What can we do?
SL: The only logical thing to do of course is to walk faster.
SM: It's not working.
SL: Of course it is not working. The man did the only logical thing. He started to walk faster too.
SM: So, what shall we do? At this rate he will reach us in one minute.
SL: The only logical thing we can do is split. You go that way and I'll go this way. He cannot follow us both.
So the man decided to follow Sister Logical.
Sister Mathematical arrives at the convent and is worried what has happened to Sister Logical. Then Sister Logical arrives.
SM: Sister Logical! Thank God you are here! Tell me what happened!
SL: The only logical thing happened. The man couldn't follow us both, so he followed me.
SM: Yes, yes! But what happened then?
SL: The only logical thing happened. I started to run as fast as I could and he started to run as fast as he could.
SM: And?
SL: The only logical thing happened. He reached me.
SM: What did you do?
SL: The only logical thing to do. I lifted my dress up.
SM: Oh, Sister! What did the man do?
SL: The only logical thing to do. He pulled down his pants.
SM: Oh, no! What happened then?
SL: Isn't it logical, Sister? A nun with her dress up can run faster than a man with his pants down....

Which seems counterproductive if you consider the point of spam. It seems posting spam is some kind of art form: you want it to be noticed by as many people as possible, as long as those people aren't mods

I think it ended up in a category that doesn't show for Google so it would fly under the radar,
Yes, it makes complete sense to put your advertisement somewhere where Google can't find it. If only more ads operated this way.

@djls45 All the numerical scales I have encountered is either 0 - 5, 0 - 10, etc. I can't recall ever coming across a negative scale when asked to rate something. The only exception is non-numerical scales, i.e "strongly disagree", "strongly agree", etc.

E_NO_REPRO. It defaults to, I assume, IP based location for me without asking for permission. Do websites need permission to use IP based locationing? Discuss.

RE: Dear web developers,
@AlexMedia So if you go to, say, Google Maps, should it just show you a generic map of nowhere in particular and only show your current location when you click a button?

What makes you think it doesn't need it now? It probably wants to show you the nearest stations to you or something similar.

RE: Who stole my RAM?
Have you tried looking at Resource Monitor (resmon.exe)? It gives you a nice split between working set, committed, shareable, etc per process. And IIRC one of the columns will sum to the total percentage shown in Task Manager, I can't remember which one though...

@Onyx said in Averaging the lag time (PostgreSQL):

Execution time: 495.325 mslooks like "mission accomplished" to me!
-
RE: Averaging the lag time (PostgreSQL)
@Onyx Interesting that it has decent peformance (I'm assuming), using subqueries within the select part of a query is usually sub-optimal. I'm assuming it's the date filter that caused the actual improvement here.
Anyway, glad I could be of help.
-
RE: Averaging the lag time (PostgreSQL)
@Onyx Oops, sorry, your LAG operator should actually look something like:
LAG("callStart") OVER (PARTITION BY "callerPhoneNumber" ORDER BY "callStart")
The partition part is important
-
RE: Averaging the lag time (PostgreSQL)
@Onyx So what prevents you from what I described, i.e.
SELECT <col_list>, "callStart" - LAG("callStart") over(ORDER BY "callStart") AS "callLag" into #callslist --This is a temp table, not sure how to do them in PostgreSQL. You can use a cte too FROM asterisk."CallsList"
and then just something like:
SELECT "callerPhoneNumber", COUNT(*) AS "totalCalls", COUNT(*) filter (WHERE "answered" = TRUE) AS "answeredCalls", COUNT(*) filter (WHERE "answered" = FALSE) AS "unansweredCalls", SUM("callTime") filter (WHERE "answered" = TRUE) AS "callTimeTotal", AVG("callTime") filter (WHERE "answered" = TRUE) AS "callTimeAverage", MAX("callTime") AS "callTimeMax", AVG("callLag") AS "callLagAvg" FROM #callslist WHERE "callStart" >= '2017-04-20' AND "callStart" < '2017-04-21' GROUP BY "callerPhoneNumber", "callStart" ORDER BY "callerPhoneNumber" ASC;
I'm not sure it will be possible without using cte's/temp tables
-
RE: Averaging the lag time (PostgreSQL)
@Onyx AIUI you want to calculate the average time between calls? It means that you want something like:
AVG("callStart" - LAG("callStart") over(ORDER BY "callStart")) AS "callLagAvg"
I'm not sure about PostgreSQL, but that is illegal in T-SQL. I would calculate the lag in a seperate cte or temp table and then do the query on that.

RE: Timesheet tracking
@djls45 I recently started using http://www.manictime.com/. I haven't been using it for long yet, but so far it is really useful. Basically, it tracks your active windows over time, so you can see which application you were using when and for how long. There are some other features as well (screenshots, etc.), but the "active window" functionality is sufficient for my purposes
