RE: Not a button
That UI element must have been designed for touch screens. Your finger would be big enough to touch the text, the button, the confirmation message above the button, and crush several small children all at the same time.

@blek I love the ambiguous checkbox those forms usually have:

Should I update my auto-like script?

RE: The Official Status Thread
Status My parents were in town this weekend. They told me that a while ago my dad had lost his wedding band.
So last week, I'm sitting in my favorite chair eating M&Ms. I dropped one and it fell into the space behind the seat cushion. I reach down into the chair and happened to find my wedding band.
That's great news! You must have been excited.
No, I never found the M&M. -

all their shitty UI into a single image.
Not all. It doesn't show you any of the dialog boxes, all of which are confusing as hell. And it doesn't show you any of the keyboard shortcuts, like Ctrl+W to save.

How the hell did a topic that started with two Holocaust puns instantly become an in-depth discussion of the concept of thought?
It's the Inverse Goodwin Law. If you start low, the only direction a discussion can take is up.
That's putting Descartes before the horse.

if she began a train of thought, she'd follow it and it was a bit difficult to get a word in to give my perspective.
My wife used to be really bad about this. I talked to her about that, and she suggested I gently interrupt her when I want to say something, because that's how she and her friends talk to each other. So the next day I try interrupting her, only for her to get pissed at me and yell "WILL YOU LET ME FINISH!"

Status Just took one of those dumb online quizzes, you know the ones that ask one question per page as an excuse to serve you 63531 ads per page. This quiz was supposed to guess where I lived based on my answers. Its guess was only off by two states. The ads, on the other hand, knew exactly where I was, including political ads for my congressional district.

@blakeyrat I hope you gave it back to him and said "there's no burger here".
I had a friend who loved cheeseburgers when she was little. Then one time at a picnic, her parents ask her if she wants a hamburger, and she enthusiastically responded with a yes. So they hand her a hamburger, she takes a look under the top bun, and starts crying. When her parents ask her what's wrong, she says "there's no ham on my burger!"

Yes, I would really like to save my work
IDA is so full of WTF, it deserves it's own category. Exhibit A is the "Save database" dialog that pops up when you want to quit (there's a post around here about that, but I can't Discofind it).
Today's episode started when I made the mistake of trying to open the Functions window. I get this message:
So you would think that clicking OK would take me back to the main window so I could save my work, right? Wrong. The error message immediately pops back up. I clicked OK about 20 times, it still keeps coming back.
I guess I won't be saving my work.

RE: The Matrix: MilwaukeePC version
It seems that you've been living two lives. One life, you're Thomas A. Anderson, program writer for a respectable software company. You have a social security number, pay your taxes, and you... help your landlady carry out her garbage. The other life is lived in computers, where you go by the hacker alias "Neo" and are a customer of the slowest internet access on Earth. One of these lives has a future, and one of them does not.
