@boomzilla That's me with the (mandatory?) work security training thingie where they send out a mail evey couple weeks with a new lesson in online safety. I've been ignoring them this far. I mean, one of my duties locally includes that (and more), and based off how corporate IT works I would do a better job managing it than them.

I am in this post and I don’t like it.

@Zerosquare what kind of moon logic is that? That because you make bugs, you won’t ever tear into someone else’s?
-
@Arantor said in Things that remind you of WDTWTF members:

Clearly didn't learn coding enough.
-
@Arantor Haha! I got it!
-
@cvi I personally prefer programming to that nasty act of staring at an editor

I don't just stare, I fuck with the editor on a daily basis.

@DogsB Nice, the tests are green...

Mark your calendar and open a betting pool, then. I'll take "manifests as bug in 7 months, found in 15, never corrected" as a trifecta, please.

I assume his logic is he "learned to code" and then realized "omg, programming is so hard, no wonder everything has a ton of bugs."
Whereas I know that programs aren't perfect and will have some bugs, but I'm still pissed if they're idiotic bugs that shouldn't exist if the authors weren't complete morons. And since the age of day one patches, video games are the worst of the worst.

@boomzilla this is the mark of a superior hittin' rock, indeed. Something about the balance, or heft, avec l'otre je ne sais quois, crying out for blood.

I find myself spotting bugs in games and thinking "you stupid lazy fucks for getting that wrong in the first place".

@dkf Hyrule Warriors is the latest game to make me go over its amazing bugitudes (although the bigger is some design decisions). I have to remember to periodically restart the game so it wont randomly crash. If lucky, there is a visible sign of "need to restart" with the game starting to render things wrong, like having background objects rendered in front of walls they should be obscured by. If not it may randomly crash, especially on the mission complete report screen. And of course, the mission status is only saved upon exiting the report screen...

That’s kind of my point… the OP was implying that if you learn to code you won’t complain about other peoples’ bugs… but I find I complain more precisely because they seem to fuck up things I wouldn’t.

It's like the font kerning joke. You start to notice even more than you might otherwise.
-
@Mason_Wheeler That's a bit like the 1.25 speedup in Python. Yes, the code in the questions might be pretty non-functional, but it's not like the answers are necessarily that much better. (And there are plenty of examples where they are that much worse.)

Could be worse. Could be corrupting saves.

Sometimes it sucks being a developer.
I reported those to the devs of a program I used. They took those reports as personal attacks. The program no longer exists.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m perfectly capable of making great steaming turds of WTF grade bugs. It’s just everyone else’s I notice……

Could be charging money for mods that used to be free but now are supposed to have been vetted and which corrupt saves.

Posting your own is a greater source of likes on this forum. Make of that what you may.
-
@DogsB what’s the exchange rates of likes to cornettos?
-
@DogsB I'd argue that the WTFs are what happens around me and y'all just amused at my frustrated wailing at trying not to lose my shit while coping with them all...

It's why I like this forum. It's so Irish. You want all the attention and love in a room full of Irish people. Have the most miserable story there.
