AMAZON PRIME DAY! is broken
-
LOOK AT ALL THESE DEALS:
(Yes that's the entire page.) (The "Shop All Deals" button just goes right back to this page.)
-
@blakeyrat Also on Twitter they linked to this amazing Nintendo Switch bundle:
Switch
64 GB memory card
$20 gift certificate on Nintendo storeFor only... exactly the same as the Switch list price, $300. So, uh... where's the sale?
-
@blakeyrat The sale is the $20 gift certificate? Maybe?
-
@topspin Actually it looks like the Switch ships with an embarrassingly tiny 32 GB of memory, you you pretty much NEED a memory card. Maybe it's not as terrible a deal as I thought.
-
I think Amazon is broken. Naturally I couldn't repro to take a screenshot, but I just searched something and got around 150 pages of results...all of which were blank with no products. The only other thing in the results was a Yes/No dialog asking if I found what I was searching for.
-
something something worker strike?
-
@lorne-kates The sale started 40 minutes ago and not only is the page still broken but I've seen zero acknowledgement on any of their twitter feeds that their page is broken. Not sure what's going on.

Maybe they're punishing people who made fun of billionaires?
-
@blakeyrat
Maybe it only works in certain versions of browsers?
-
Maybe it's only for people who have eaten a certain quantity of prime rib roast?
-
Unrelated to the brokenness but maybe related to the Switch deal:
-
Maybe butt?

Did you try clicking No?
-
Well, I just traded an old ass-Kindle with a weak battery for a new 6" Kindle for $34. Normal price: $100.

I could buy that for you for $10 with no trade in... unless you mean you also removed Special Offers.
-
@jazzyjosh Yeah, the new one isn't ad-supported. My old one was, which wasn't too bad. I have a batch file that deletes the ads--they come back whenever I turn WiFi on, which is only if I need to download something new. But for the price it made sense to get the one I didn't have to "hack".
-
@blakeyrat It looks like they've "fixed" it now. Because it did work for a moment for me, but now that I try it again, it's fucked.
-
@chaostheeternal I eventually got it to work and managed to browse enough deals that I'm saying "meh" to the whole event.
-
There's a workaround in that article
-
@blakeyrat Yeah, it's pretty much required, can confirm.
-
@magus Nintendo fans put up with a lot of shit.
-
@timebandit I guess that's why it worked for me.
-
@blakeyrat Yep. On the bright side, the game chips hold a lot: some of the largest games can't be obtained digitally because they're too large afaik. And sure, they do updates to games that are on chips by shoving them onto your main system, but I think they do a better job of not forcing you to install your games on the console than anyone else.
-
@magus They kind of have to since they ship it with an embarrassingly tiny amount of memory they should be ashamed of.
-

That is what Amazon always does when something's wrong, instead of telling you so. It's incredibly frustrating.
-

wikipedia seems to say that the chips range from 1-32GB. while downloading 32gb of game is terrible, I doubt any of the larger ps4/xone digital downloads are smaller than that...

related: amazon search gave me a web server error page (not Amazon's dog.jpeg error pages). are they really receiving that much traffic? most people that I know are poo-pooing prime day and don't seem to care about it

Maybe they ran out of AWS credits.

Just spin up the Azure fail-overs.

Not too bad with decent internet, provided the other end have the infrastructure to match.
-
Amazon Prime day is broken, turns out to be composite
-
Day two has FREE CHEERIOS!
(goes through stupid checkout process)
They only end up costing $8 bucks! What a fucking crock.
EDIT: oh if I hit the "Pantry" link instead of the Get It Now link it stops lying to me about what the deal is:
Get this item FREE with $40 purchase
Celebrate Prime Day with a FREE box of Honey Nut Cheerios Family Size (19.5 oz) with your Pantry purchase of $40 or more.
Pfft.
-
@blakeyrat Tips? For stuff ordered online from Amazon, one of the biggest retailers on the whole fucking planet?! And where you won't see anyone involved in getting the item(s) to you other than perhaps the postman?
-
@dkf And, furthermore, a recommended tip that's more than the cost of the item you're buying?
-
@scarlet_manuka That amazon dog has a family to feed.
-
@topspin That's all right, I'm sure Amazon pay it a respectable living wage and treat it well, just as they do all their employees..
-
@scarlet_manuka Two Scooby Snacks a day.
