Spot the difference: Chickens.

7Now what?
Filed under: I don't get it, Unless every one of them has a difference I CBA to look for
-
@pjh They're all different from each other; they've got different numbers written on them. GENIUS!
-
@Onyx, somewhat amused that you spoilered the wrong answer but not the right one...
-
@pjh Yeah, I see at least one more now, even ignoring @dkf's approach... still, it's a subset, so it's technically not wrong anyway!
-
OK - an easier one (I think this one's been on here before):

Number 9 is different ... it's invisible.
-
@pjh Hmm... Edited because the post summary in the sidebar causes spoilers by not honoring details tags!
Number 3 is different. The tail feathers are slightly different.Still don't understand how spotting that makes me a genius.
-
@pjh Hah, I get it. I am also going to fill up the sidebar preview text, good call @Atazhaia.
2 is different, the right foot has an extra toe.
3 is different, the tail is missing a feather.
5 is different, the leg doesn't have the crease.
6 is different, the neck feathers are missing a tuft.
7 is different, the eye is rolled up.
8 is different, the wing elbow feathers are shaped differently.
This puzzle is mislabeled; the title should be something to the effect of Spot the Twins, and the answer is 1 and 4.
-
I'm not sure which are the actual differences and which are JPEG artifacts.
-
@pjh Is it that they all have different noise due to awful JPEG re-encoding?
-
Not content with
displayingflaunting his balls in front of us all, @pjh is now forcing us to study his cocks.

Close.
-
@PJH Edit: sidebar preview filler text to take up all the room in the preview so that the answers isn't spoilered. It's probably too late for that, though, since someone else already responded, which makes their post the one that would be previewed.
Answer
3 and 7 are different from the rest, not counting the different labels or positions or other "outside the box" answers.

What about
the creases just above the right leg of chicken #5
-
@PJH Oh, I can't believe I missed that one!
-
The answer is either 1 or 4.
The rest are all different from the others in some way. 2 has an extra toe, 3 has different tailfeathers, 5 has a different leg crease, 6 has a different neckfeather arrangement, 7 is the eye, and 8 has a longer line above the wing. The one with nothing unique must be the answer, but I can't tell the difference between 1 and 4.
-
@pjh said in Spot the difference: Chickens.:
All of them. The red number is different on each one.
But seriously. Each one has a difference.
-
@xaade nope
-
@xaade If you can find one between 1 and 4, I definitely want to know it.

Other than the big red label?
I think the thread is right about the general idea. This was supposed to be a find the twins scenario.

Well. It's easier to make out the captain america chicken if you use the colored version of the game.

Besides the number and compression artifacts there are no differences
Edit: This is what a difference looks like
-
@placeholder Geeky overkill? I approve!

You did the thing I thought about doing to solve this once and for all, but didn’t feel like bothering with.
-
@dkf said in Spot the difference: Chickens.:

True overkill would be creating a stack of 8 chickens and XORing them all together, instead of just doing subtraction on two of them. All the differences would stand out then. I did try that, but after the fourth image there was so much noise introduced via compression artifacts that you couldn't see the changes very easily anymore.
Now, I could have done some preprocessing to get around that, or used something more appropriate than Paint.NET, but we're getting into some serious territory there.
-
I tried it once more with the "Difference" mode in Paint.NET, and while it does give a softer look you can't move the (blurred and compressed) layers close enough together for the aliasing to disappear:
Also, I went to the trouble of finding a slightly-higher-resolution version:
Now hoping the forum doesn't recompress it...
EDIT: It does for the preview in the post, click on it to get the one I found.

Those are good results. The higher resolution image makes a huge difference here.

#4 identifies as a turkey.
-
@pjh said in Spot the difference: Chickens.:

7 is different from others with the eye rolling up instead of down.
5 is different from others with only 1 line extended from the leg to body.
8 is different from others with different drawing line between the body and tail.
3 is different from others at the tip of tail
I think there could be other difference on the remaining pics.
-
I've updated the OP. Currently no discernable differences have been posited for 1&4.
-
Chicken #4 is different: It's the only one that can see a chicken identical to it.
-
Chicken no 5 is the odd one out. The lines on its thigh is one whilelse that of the other seven are two. A very little detail
-
@eniotogr8t You're incorrect. See my post.
Also, welcome to the forums!
-
No 9 is the odd one ... because it's in @stillwater 's garden
-
Distinct features:
2 has an extra toe, 3 has less tail feathers, 5 has only one thigh crease, 6 has extra feather around neck, 7 is looking up, 8 has a longer butt crease.
1 and 4 are the same
But the riddle was never about features guys.......
It’s 8. The only chicken not being looked at by another chicken.
if Chicken 7 werent looking at Chicken 4, Chicken 4 would also have no other chickens looking at it like 8. Since the illustrator made it a point for Chicken 7 to be looking at Chicken 4, the only chicken that is truly different than the rest is chicken 8.
🤝
-
@mbernardi That's a very interesting theory... But are you sure that chicken 6 can be seen by chicken 8 when chicken 7 is in the way?
-
@mbernardi Welcome to the forum!
-
@mbernardi Chickens cannot move their eyes. They have to move their whole heads. Chicken 7 cannot be looking at chicken 4, the way its eyes were drawn notwithstanding.
What I'm saying is, I like my answer better.
-
@Placeholder I just cross my eyes for this shit, its way easier
-
@JBert @anotherusername I’m actually leaning toward chicken 4 now, the only chicken looking in the direction of a chicken that is identical to it
That said, 1 is the only chicken being looked at by an identical chicken
That said, 5 is the only chicken possessing a unique physical trait and is not looking at another chicken
That said, WHICH CHICKEN IS CHICKEN 7 LOOKING AT!!!!😩😩😩😩 FML!!!!
-
I believe that I've found the correct answer, exhaustively detailed in this paper:
-
@PotatoEngineer Chicken chicken chicken-chicken
-
@PleegWat
It crossed the road
-
@Luhmann But that still doesn't answer why...
-

It does indicate the existence of at least one why.
