I don't have much trouble with actual moderators, but the armchair ones are really annoying.
-
@TimeBandit
Given that 13 of those were before 1967 (where they only had to beat out 5 other teams for the cup!) -- and one of those 13 was awarded by default because the other team was on strike for the moneys...And that they only have 2 Cups since the league expanded beyond 20 teams, and none in the past 23 years (having missed the playoffs entirely in 8 of those 22 seasons that had playoffs)...
I'm going to stick with perennial loser. After all, what have they done for you lately? :P
-
@wharrgarbl
Well, if you stop advocating abusing our friends by creating spurious flags to make them do spits work, then maybe we won't have to armchair moderate and agitate for you to receive consequences for your actions...

I've never noticed before, but are the red diagonals supposed to be off-centered?

Yes: that way, the flag can be mounted upside-down as a distress signal.
-
Oh, almost forgot: the white diagonals are the same width as the red diagonals.
Yes.
The extra white is padding to be symmetrical with the white padding between the red diagonals and the blue background.

There Is no "dismiss all flags," for the simple expedient that you would not want to dismiss all flags. There might actually be legitimate ones mixed in with your bullshit. In fact, there were two posts flagged as spam so far today.
To reject a single flag:
- Go to Flag Interface.
- Expand flag you want to handle.
- (Optional) Click "Read More" to see the entire flagged post.
3A. Return to the tab containing the flag interface. - Select yourself in "assigned to" dropdown (that's really two clicks though).
- Select "Rejected" in the status dropdown (again, two clicks).
- Click "Save Changes".
So that's 7 or 9 clicks, depending on if you decided to read more, just to reject a flag. If you are rejecting multiple flags at once, you can skip the first click for the additional flags, giving you 6 or 8 steps for every flag you reject after the first one.
Seems like you should stop assuming.

Considering the flexibility in the flags interface, and the amount of tracking, it's actually a pretty decent UI. Are there ways it could be improved? Sure, but then is there a UI that couldn't be improved?
-
@abarker IMO it should list the flagged posts like if it were a thread, and there should be action buttons like "dismiss" that would solve it in a single click. A "dismiss all" in case of a serious flood and some rate limits.
-
@wharrgarbl said in Re: The official flags topic:
and some rate limits.
Well, there's always a way to introduce those...
-
@Maciejasjmj I think haproxy can rate limit http requests. At least it would prevent the worse bot attacks.

i mean i've got a bunch of alts (they're pretty much exclusively bots) and i'd expect if i made an alt that was effectively shitposting that it would be banned pretty much immediately and if i made another one to continue so would i......

unless he's making this his permanent account it's still an alt ant i'm assuming the old primary is still active.

Well, there shouldn't be, for the simple reasons that "dismiss all flags" doesn't adequately explain what you the button does, and that you shouldn't be destroying that data. Hacking it out was the right call.

How are misbehaving alts any worse than misbehaving main accounts?
because anonymity breeds misbehavior.
also, misbehavior on mains should risk banning as well, it's just a different level of..... lets just say that the trigger is more sensitive for alt accounts.
-
@accalia - That's indeed encroaching on anti-alt prejudice () - if anonymity breeds misbehaviour in a specific case, then that specific alt would behave far worse and we'd want to ban them. Otherwise, if anonymity breeds the same amount of misbehaviour as in a typical "non-anonymous" account, what's the problem?
Assuming @wharrgarbl listened to the mods and stopped flagging, I don't personally see his behavior as particularly problematic - there's no need to become a police forum.
-
@accalia so what's your main account? @fox @Perverted_Vixen or @accalia? @Accalia_de_Elementia?
